What happened in Vegas didn’t always stay in Vegas.
Tiffany Blackburn couldn’t believe what occurred during her recent vacation in Vegas. The careful, single mom decided to let loose and took a risk for once, allowing a man to buy her a whiskey sour. Regretting it the moment she woke up alone in a stranger’s bed the next day. Naked. It only got worse, when she tried to sneak out and discovered something he left on the table. His wedding ring. Jagger Chance never failed to deliver when he was working undercover as a spy for the government. Women found him sexy and mysterious, which the loner preferred. He was happy to take risks bringing down notorious criminals but never with his heart. Until one night in Vegas, after a lot of drinks and a beautiful woman too sweet to resist, suddenly risking his heart to say ‘I do’ didn’t seem like a bad idea.
If you read the book, you will see that when the excerpt above first show up and when it is explained, it's not the best scenario. But if you read closely the story, you'll see that that is exactly what happens between Tiffany, David and Jagger. They honor always, Protect Fully and Love Forever.
This is the first book I read by Elizabeth Lynx, and although it would be better if I had read if after reading the whole series, since it's a standalone, I could totally enjoy the story. And, boy, did I?
I was torn between being happy I was reading The Spy Ring and beating myself up for not reading the series sooner. Saying I loved is not enough.
one of the things that amazed me the most was reading about David. I'll try not to spoil, but I have to say it: today, we read a lot of real life issues, and that is incredible. Romance is not black and white anymore, romance speaks to our heats and souls, it tells about drama we face every day, our real pain, our real fear.
And that is such an advance. I love that reading is that real! And in previous books that I read, I saw medical issues, people being sick, characters facing cancer (and that one is so sensitive to me, so close to me, that touches me everytime). But never have I read a book that told us about special needs children.
And. That. Was. Wonderful.
It was so beautiful reading about it, about the struggles, the battles, the fears and failures and victories. People always see from afar, they never take a closer look to the difficulties that all that brings.
It was so sensitive and so fundamental. It was representative. It surprised me and amazed me.
That being said, I need to also say this: David and Tiffany were extraordinary. They faced so much together, they deserved every little and every big victory and step foward they got.
"You're like this candy bracelet, Tiffany. A never-ending loop of sweetness and joy. And I don't want to spoil your goodness with my bitter life. I'll never forget you"
At the same time, being that devoted to each other, specially devoted to a son who needs her so much, Tiffany had to step back from her own life so that David could have his.
But even a strong mom like that can't do everything. She needs help, support, a standing hand. Enters Jagger.
"'Tiffany, you know I won't ever let anything happen to you or your son. I'm afraid you are stuck with the most well-trained ninja at your side for as long as you'll have me' 'Is that a promise?' 'It's more than a promise. It's a fact'."
Jagger, a spy, a government secret agent, a man used to danger with a void in his chest in need of true love. A man determined to do whatever it takes to procet and love. A man determined to "Honor always. Protect Fully. Love Forever". Even if sometimes he did by making mistakes.
"If you are going to hate me I wanted you to know that I love you. I may not know how to give you my heart without breaking a few pieces first, but I wanted to write you so that if you should ever need some comfort, some help, and anyone fall at your feet, then I will be there. I promise to love you always. I will be there to protect you if you should ever give me the chance. And I wil always admire your quiet strength."
They were an explosion together. Sexy, hot, intense...but also tender, caring, comprehensive, protective.
"I will always want to take care of you. Unless I f*** you. Then I only want to ruin you."
They were what the other needed, what the other wanted and desired for so long. They were the escape and the love that could fill their lives and keep them walking, even if life was messy and disturbing.
"The curve of her lips was more than just a turn on, it was life-giving. Her smile could light the way at night, and still have me refreshed by morning."
They had a lot to adjust. They had a lot to take in. Their lives were different and needed compromise. More than that, they weren't alone. David was a priority for both of them, and even with all the ugly outside, they had to bring the beuaty from inside to make it happen. To make Them happen.
"I love you, Jagger. I want you to know that. Right here, in this spot, you are so loved (...) Caring isn't always wanted or pretty, but it's forever needed."
Love wasn't easy for them. With all their baggage and past, with all their struggle and fear, with all their pain and the ones they needed to protect, face the unkown to take a show at love was a high risk to take. But it was totally worthy.
"What we have isn't pretty like a picture, it's the mountains and the valley and the sun that inspired the artist. We are forever like that rock and earth and ball of fire. We may be hot and cold, but we will always be solid because we are the eternal. You are what I had been looking for most in my life."
Blurb: What happened in Vegas didn’t always stay in Vegas.

This is a hard one to rate. I loved Tiffany and her son, David. They were sweet and deserved some good in their lives after everything they've both been through. But what they ended up with was Jagger.
From the very beginning, I didn't like him. He remembered everything that happened in Vegas, but that didn't stop him from continuing to live his life the way he always had. Not that there's a problem with that (because they were clearly too drunk and it's not like it was real anyway), but don't try to tell me he felt a connection with Tiffany when his actions afterwards clearly stated otherwise. Then he lies and manipulates the situation to get Tiffany to do what he wants, then walks away. The ONLY reason he came back to her was because his job came to an end. So what else is there to do but go back, right?
While the romance in this book was severely lacking (I don't think for one minute that Tiffany is the love of Jagger's life), I still enjoyed other parts of it. Maybe if I'd read the previous books, I may have liked this better, but Jagger kind of ruined it for me. Still, if you're looking for a light, easy read, this could definitely work for you.
ETA: I probably won't read Morgana & Henrik's story (even though I really liked them) because my sister's name is Morgana and that would just be...weird lol. But I will try other books from this author because I think it's just a 'me' thing why I didn't really enjoy this one.
I wish I would of read the entire Cake Love series. The Spy Ring by Elizabeth Lynx is the 4th book in this series and the first one I've read. It can be read as a stand alone. I thought this was a well written story. It had just the right amount of sweet and sexy romance. There was a few spots that I shed some tears and where it was funny. Such an easy read. I loved the main characters Tiffany and Jagger. Tiffany and her girlfriends take a trip to Vegas. Tiffany wakes up in a strangers bed and doesn't remember anything from the night before. Tiffany quickly exits the room after thinking she had a one night stand with a married man, Jagger. Little does she know she didn't have a one night stand but married an Secret Agent who was working undercover. -What happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay in Vegas.- Tiffany is a single mom to 12 yr old boy. David has special needs from the car accident that took his fathers life 10 yrs before. Jagger and Tiffany have lots of hurdles to conquer together through the book. They both gain more love and understanding from each other then they knew was ever possible. Jagger did a great job with David. He didn't treat him any different then your typical 12 yr old boy. This book is a Must Read. Im looking fwd to reading the rest of the books in this series.
The Spy Ring is amazing. I can't tell you how excited I am to finally get Tiffany's story. If you've read the first 3 books in the Cake Love series you get a little bit of Tiffany here and there. And now onto this 4th book you finally get to see Tiffany's strength as a single parent. Not only does she kick booty at it but she also lets her hair down a little finally too. I could only imagine the stress and selflessness Tiffany has gone through with getting David to where he is by the end of the book. Its so heart warming and enjoyable to see everyone grow so much.
Okay enough of this babbling ramble lets get to the fact I love Jagger. Right now he is my favorite of the men in this series. Yes he edged them all out. Come on yes I love the fact that Henrik is so loving and caring with Tiffany and David. But there is something about Jagger that just pulls me in. The chemistry is amazing between Tiffany and Jagger. The bound he develops almost instantly with David is wonderful. It was a breath of fresh air to see him treat David like a normal kid even though he has his limitations at times. The Spy Ring is one heck of ride. You get the laugh out loud moments with the ladies of the SWIM Meet that will also have you craving some kind of sweet treat. You also get action and a wonderful romance. I seriously love this series. Elizabeth Lynx does amazing job pulling you into her characters world.
I loved this book for so many reasons, the main on is because you can tell this book was written from the heart. It will make you laugh, scream, and fall in love.
This is Tiffany’s story; she is a single mother who is smart, sexy, and devoted to her son. Jagger Chance is single, hot, and definitely all man. I loved these two characters together more than everyone else in the whole series. They just were so real and down to earth and their chemistry was combustible like no other.
I have read all the others in the The Cake Love series and I was so looking forward to reading this one too. I was not disappointed at all; I love this series and I will be recommending The Spy Ring, it is such a good read.
Great Story!!!!! I love that Tiffany is a strong single mom raising her special needs son David and how she ends up meeting Jagger whom is a spy. I love reading how the relationship with Tiffany , David and Jagger develop. How Tiffany struggles to let her son do things now that he is getting older and able to do more it is hard to let go since she has taking care of David though hard times and good now that David is getting better and able to do more by himself and Jagger understands and helps Tiffany. Jagger and Tiffany fall in love and David accepts Jagger to. I highly recommend this book. As a mom of a special needs child I could relate to this :)
I was so excited when I got spy ring as I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for Tiffany's book. Tiffany has a strength about her that any single mom can attest too. But she caring for a sick child with limits and doing everything else that needs to be done. She is my hero and I am so amazed by her. And finally letting her hair down woot woot did she ever. Let's talk Jabber man that man. I love how he treats David like any other child not like he can't do anything he wants. I loved seeing them together and David getting better. I loved this book so much it seriously is my favorite.
Such a great story... I loved it... Elizabeth Lynx did an amazing job with telling Tiffany's story. I just loved Jagger, I think he was perfect for Tiffany and David. Just what they both needed. This is a great story. I recommend it and I recommend reading the others in the cake love series. It can be read as a standalone but you want to read the others too. Because cake.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series-didnt quite expect the blush factor to be so high but had an edge of your seat storyline. I am glad I started with book 1 because you really do need to read them in order to be able to follow relationships throughout the books. Definitely a good read-I read all 4 books in 4 days! I didn't want to put them down!
Second book by this author I listened to as was free on audible. The narration was well done but I really wanted this to be less erotic and more sweet. To me the plot and story was lessened by the erotic sex. I almost DNF but the ending had an HEA. I just felt this book jumped from cute to erotic to sweet to emotional. The characters were okay in parts and just when I started to like them story veered off in another direction. There was humor but again the sex was too much for this type of book, it seemed contrived as did the suspense near the end.
Elizabeth Lynx’s The Spy Ring is exactly what you need if you are looking for a sexy spy novel. Synopsis: Jagger, a spy, and Tiffany, a single mother, fall for each other after drinking and tying the knot in Las Vegas. The opening of this book is fantastic! It’s the quintessential ‘The Hangover’ start with two drunk people marrying in Vegas. But then a villain gets involved and Jagger tries to protect Tiffany and her son, David. Elizabeth packs a lot of action into this book. Her descriptions of Tiffany’s struggles as a mom of a special needs child will pull at your heart strings. And there is plenty of steamy scenes that will have you pining for your own rendezvous with a spy in Vegas.
I loved reading this book it made you laugh and scream from the very Begining! Tiffany wakes up and she doesn’t remember anything just a guy and she sees a ring so she think omg she slept w a married man. When jagger comes to visit Tiffany bc he has to get her to sign papers he fibs to her and crazy things happen. So much goes on in this book literally your like omg The Whole time! I loved it!
This is book 4th book in the Cake love series. This is a stand alone and can be read without reading the other books first. This book is about Tiffany. Tiffany is a single mom out to have a little fun with her friends. She meets Jagger and one things leads to another. Jagger is a spy on a case but he just wantes to be just normal for a second. These two together throw off sparks. This is a must read. And cant wait to read the other books in the series
Tiffany hasn’t had an easy life. A single mom that is caring for her son who was hurt in a car accident and had to have surgery to start talking and walking. She goes to Vegas for a weekend trip and met Jagger. Jagger was a government official and Jagger was his fake name. They got married and everything was falling apart or just falling into place. Tiffany never counted on anyone for help. She did it all on her own but Jagger wanted to be the one she can lean on and be there when she needed help. This book is amazing. A strong woman and a strong man that is rough around the edges. What happens do they salary married or not?
Tiffany’s girlfriends wanted to take her to Las Vegas to have a one night fling. She wakes up n the morning a strange room with a man in the shower and she wouldn't know what he looked like. Then she stops and finds a wedding ring on the dresser. Tiffany couldn't believe she had slept with a married man. Meanwhile three weeks later his superior officer asked why he didn’t tell them he was married. Jagger was floored he would not have been that drunk. Jagger gets Tiffany’s name and goes over with divorce papers for her to sign but there was a mix up and she thought he was his new PT for David. Finally with a little help Jagger got Tiffany to sign the divorce papers. Jagger ran into Tiffany and David on his run. Jagger asked if he could do some more Ninja training with David and his new friend. Tiffany and Jagger were having a conversation and she started to talk about her mom. Jagger went to make her feel comfortable. Time goes by and Jagger was really falling for Tiffany and she was having thoughts about him. That was not what happened he was saying goodbye. Jagger finds out that he fired by the agency because he could put the mission in jeopardy. After Tiffany threw him out of her apartment he has been feeling terrible. Jagger finds out that Alex’s mother escaped so he knew he had to get to Aria,Tiffany and the rest of the ladies. Jagger told the men what was going on and then he left. Emma takes Alex and David Tiffany’s son as a hostage. The next thing that happens gets trickier David did a maneuver and got the guy who was holding him down. Jagger was able to get the gun and when he fired at Emma he saw David bleeding. Jagger had to let Tiffany knows that David was shot did. . She told him in no uncertain terms that she never wanted to see him again and to stay from her son. David drags his mother over to an apartment that happens to be over a gym. The apartment that David took her to see Tiffany realized she would have to see Jagger. Twist,Turns, Kidnapping, and Redemption..
The Spy Ring is the fourth book in the Cake Love series by Elizabeth Lynx. It’s not necessary to have read the previous three other than for all the yummy goodness that has gone before this one and for the little tidbits of Tiffany that are in them. Here, she gets to come into her own, show her strengths and yeah, her weakness too. She gets the chance to be the kicka** mom and woman that she truly is. Basically, she gets to be herself. If you’ve read the other books, then like me, you’ll have been waiting on this one with as much anticipation as I have. Elizabeth did not disappoint me. This one is the best so far. Tiffany and Jagger’s story will give you all the feels. Love, aggravation, laughter, the swoony moments where you just want to be that character. They are just that real… and believable. I hope you will fall in love with both Tiffany and Jagger, like I did. Tiffany’s a single mom, working hard to raise her son David, right, but it’s hard being the only parent. She’s fully committed to him, but she’s fun and sexy too. Jagger, meanwhile is totally single. He has to be for his job, relationships just aren’t on the cards for him. But, when they meet, their instant rapport and chemistry was hard to deny. I loved both these characters, Jagger was such a wonderful person and the way he took to David from the get-go was heartwarming and sweet. He and Tiffany make a great couple and I really enjoyed their story. I can heartily recommend it.
This is an entertaining story with action, comedy, and a bit of wild sex. Tiffany and Jagger got wasted and then married in Las Vegas, though Tiffany doesn't remember that at all. When Jagger shows up with plans to get Tiffany to sign divorce papers, he keeps lying and dragging things out because he feels such an attraction to her. Jagger also begins to bond with Tiffany's son David. I never really connected with Tiffany or Jagger, though I like him more than her. There are moments that make me wonder why he even wants her at all, with the way she turns on him without a thought. For a government agent, Jagger is pretty self-esteem challenged at times. The only character I truly care about is Tiffany's son David. The danger in the story comes from someone whose motives I don't understand, possibly because I haven't read the rest of the series. I like the story, for the most part, but I think I'd be less confused and care more about this group of people if I had read the other books in the series. While I enjoyed the humor and the sexy times between Jagger and Tiffany, I can't really recommend this as a standalone. I think it will probably be much more enjoyable to someone who's read the rest of the series. Despite the fact that I didn't absolutely love this book, I enjoyed the writing style and will be interested in reading more from this author.
The SWIM ladies are back and this time it is Tiffany’s turn! Tiffany lost her husband in a car accident that almost killed their son also. He was two at the time and she had to take over for him in all aspects. He had had a surgery months before that turned the tides in his favor. He is 12 and can finally walk and talk on his own. Tiffany went with Morgana to Las Vegas one weekend and ended up marrying someone, but she did not remember. Jagger works for the government as a secret spy. He was mixed up with Grace and a couple others from the SWIM group at one point. Now, he drunkenly married Tiffany! A month later, his boss found out and told him to get a divorce. He went around to Tiffany’s and ended up botching the whole thing. Later, he did get her to sign the papers. Through a series of events, they end up seeing one another and disaster after disaster keeps occurring. Just when Tiffany gives up on him, an old criminal pop back up to ruin things for the ladies and men of the SWIM! What will happen? Who will die? Will Tiffany, Jagger and David get the HEA they all deserve? I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
Jagger and Tiffany are a wild ride. Quite honestly, how can you not love a book that starts with the main character waking up in bed in Vegas and seeing a wedding ring on the end table and thinking that she just left with a married man? You come to find out that she had actually eloped with the spy, Jagger. Jagger has to get a divorce from Tiffany, but he doesn’t really want to or does he? Jagger’s in the middle of trying to complete his previous assignment the arrest and trial of the infamous the jewel. While dealing with all of that Jagger and Tiffany have to deal with their feelings for one another. Tiffany also has a son that had been disabled, but thanks to surgery is now on the mend. There are plenty of issues and emotions that need to be dealt with, and they are handled quite well. Will they be able to make the relationship work or, will they have to make their divorce permanent?
I enjoyed this book however I read it believing it to be a stand alone, although part of a series. This was my error but I would advise reading the rest of the series before this as there are established relationships that are obviously the earlier stories but you don't understand the context if events they refer to.
I found tiffany to be a bit annoying. Fortunately I have never been in the position of caring for a disabled child but I felt she was militant in her treatment. She was unable to let him grow now he didn't need her as much. I think this could have been explored further and shown her growth as every little freedom for David seemed like a battle.
Jagged was quite possibly the worst spy ever. Blurting out his real name and telling random bar tenders he worked for the government. If you want a quick simple read then this is a good option.
The story of an unlikely marriage in Vegas, Jagger is an uncover agent whose current assignment includes watching Tiffany and her friends. Following them on a girls trip to Vegas, he is struck by his attraction to her. A few drinks later and Tiffany wakes up unknowingly married to Jagger. With his job at risk Jagger must get divorced but he quite let Tiffany go. Tiffany is a widowed mom with a disabled son just looking to have fun while in Vegas with her friends, last the thing she expects is the wake up married to a stranger. This story follows them as they try to make a go of their marriage and learn to trust each other. A great plot line, with good characters. I just wish the writing had been a bit more substantial, it felt a little all over the place and I sometimes had trouble following the connection between each character.
First off I've only read book one in the Cake Love series, I loved it so I knew when I saw #4 I wanted to read it. Having not read two of the books in the series did not take anything away, I wasn't lost or felt that there was something missing but I will go back and read them. The Spy Ring is Tiffany's story. Single mom, Vegas trip, one simple mistake in her normally straight-laced life has it's consequences. When Jagger shows up at her door he realizes she doesn't recognize him and takes advantage of that. When the truth comes out the fireworks fly! I enjoyed this book, love the authors writing and the characters are memorable. This book is non stop, it's well paced and worth the read.
The Spy Ring follows Jagger and Tiffany. Tiffany is a young widow with a son who hadn’t been able to walk since the accident that killed his father, that is until a recent operation has given him full function back. Tiffany is slowly learning how to give her son David more independence. Jagger, is an inter-terrorism spy. The two somehow get married in Vegas, although Tiffany has no recollection of Jagger or the marriage. Jagger can’t do relationships with his job but when he finds himself let go by the agency anything can happen. Took me a while to get into the story and it was OK but not sure if I’d read others in the series or not.
This was my first book by Elizabeth but it will not be my last. This book definitely gives a whole new spin on what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Jagger and Tiffany heat up the pages with their instant chemistry, but the drama surrounding them had me intrigued even more. The twists and turns kept the story exciting. The friendship between Jagger and David was sweet. As an adult with CP, I could see my mom in Tiffany and her overprotective but loving ways. Jagger can spy on me anytime. Spy Ring will keep you enthralled as the mystery of love and redemption unfolds.
When she woke up after a night in Vegas in another room and found his wedding ring she felt sorry for the guys wife! Whilst on an assignment Vegas Jagger Chance meets Tiffany and they get married the same night only problem she doesn't remember it and legs it the next morning when he is in the shower. When is boss finds out Jagger had to go find Tiffany and ask for a divorce. The book had some twists and turns that keep u turning the pages to find out if Jagger gets to have his happy family or will his cases from the past will stop him.
This story of a mother accepting that her child may not need her as much, accepting that she needs a male connection, that change is inevitable is heartbreaking and also so hopeful. I loved Tiffany, even with her ramblings, I got where she was coming from. Jagger was a little weak for a special agent, made a few too many mistakes. Still this was a good read and a twisty mystery.
This is the fourth book in the Cake Love Series but is a stand alone. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas ---- right?!?!? Well when you get married and don't remember it, it may follow you home. Jagger was on the job but wanted to feel like a regular guy for one night and he gets so much more than expected.
This is a story with great characters, plenty of emotions, angst, suspense, mystery, and so much more. Each chapter is a whirlwind.
