5 Stars - Can't believe it's the end of an era!!

Midnight Hour is the conclusion of the Shadow Falls: After Dark series and it is given from Miranda Kane’s point of view.
Miranda and her sister go to a fortune teller that practices dark magic. When something goes terribly wrong, Miranda finds herself accused of blowing up a drug den and wearing a moving magical tattoo. Just when she thought all the bad has fallen her sister disappears.
There is love triangle between Miranda, Perry and Shawn. Which it seemed pretty obvious from the start which way Miranda was going to choose.
Midnight Hour was fun, with lots of humorous banter to break up the suspense filled tension the plot provided. Written for a young reader, this is sure to be a huge hit with all the loyal Shadow Fall fans, Hunter ties up the loose ends and gives you a clean and satisfying conclusion.

I'm so upset that this series has come to an end!!! It was a perfect way to end it, with a book from Miranda's POV... Although I adore books about witches so I do wish there would have been more! This one, just like the others in the Shadow Falls/After Dark Series, was filled with humor, suspense, and heartwarming moments. Hunter has the amazing ability to make you laugh and cry in the same sentence. She is a master storyteller and has created such an incredible backdrop for amazing characters that have gone on some pretty incredible journeys! I have loved going on this journey with Kylie, Della, and now Miranda! Another book you absolutely HAVE to read! Hunter does not disappoint!

And so the conclusion to the Shadow Falls series is here! The release of Midnight Hour actually came as a huge surprise to me seeing that I thought this series ended last year with book three, Unspoken , but I’m not complaining since this gives me another excuse to revisit this world one last time.
In this fourth and final installment, like the rest of the students at Shadow Falls Miranda Kane is preparing for her senior year graduation (meaning she has to study and take the SAT once again for college entry because of her dyslexia). But, of course, at Shadow Falls where all things paranormal exist nothing stays normal and calm for long. Miranda unintentionally becomes involved in a crazy situation, and when she awakes in the hospital after the near-death experience she finds a growing tattoo on her body. Many are already disappointed in her for not meeting the standards and surrendering the title of High Priestess (basically the most powerful witch) to her sister, so adding this mystery is not going to please her mom. But then her sister’s kidnapped, and all hell breaks loose in town as local robberies and murders surface. With Midnight Hour, the unstoppable team at Shadow Falls (Miranda, Della, and Kylie) are back to kick butt and set everything right.
Because Unspoken gave readers full closure on most of the characters’ stories and was a sufficient finale to the series itself, Midnight Hour isn’t entirely mandatory for readers of the series. They can choose if they want to continue on with this conclusion or leave this world at where Unspoken ended. I suggest picking this up if you’re curious about Miranda’s end, really enjoy her as a character, or like the Wicca mythology in this series. But, yes, this is the true conclusion to the Shadow Falls spinoff series, Shadow Falls: After Dark, not Unspoken as I previously thought.
Of the roundtable diet coke girls (only fans of the series will understand this reference), my favorite has always been Della not just because she happens to be part Asian but for her spunky attitude and boundless sardonic remarks. Plus, reading about vampire lore is more my thing since it’s a great guilty pleasure of mine. Honestly, I liked this spinoff series (even more than the original Shadow Falls) because of Della. Though, like I said, readers already reach a satisfying end with her story in Unspoken. So, even though Midnight Hour is part of the Shadow Falls: After Dark sequence, it’s no longer written in Della’s perspective but Miranda’s (as well as Perry and Shawn’s). I must admit that this sudden narrator change in the series-even though it made complete sense why it had to be done-affected my enjoyment of the book in a slightly negative way.
And another part of me is bummed by a few other reasons:
It irked me that nearly all the characters were paired off with a love interest in the end-even the rebounds and defeated contenders in the love triangles. You guys know that I’m a total romantic and love when ships go cannon… but that doesn’t mean I believe that you have to be with someone in order to achieve happiness.
Speaking of love triangles, many of you know it’s not really something that annoys me like other readers if done convincingly. However, as I read Miranda’s tale I couldn’t help but find jarring similarities between her and her best friend’s arcs. Kylie, Della, and Miranda all were mixed up in a love triangle, chose the “bad guy” among the two love interests, possessed a variance of the “special snowflake” or “chosen one” syndrome (Kylie being chameleon, Della being a reborn, and now Miranda being ), and shared abilities (which is supposed to be super rare among paranormals for this world). Midnight Hour did feel, at times, familiar, repetitive, and predictable. And these coincidences are the primary reason why I’m knocking off the amount of stars I did.
Yet, despite the flaws and lower rating, there was still much to like about Midnight Hour.
There is talk of sex more in this one compared to the previous books in this series, which I don’t necessarily consider to be bad at all since I’m an advocate for sex positive themes in YA literature.
Of course, knowing Hunter, all the action scenes with the FRU were executed perfectly and remained as my favorites. Seeing the girls kick butt will never get humdrum. We, thankfully, still see a lot of Della, and with her there are a myriad of belly laugh worthy comedic scenes. (Her and the fur balls moments though, haha.) I was beyond happy we got more Holiday and Burnett since they’re such lovable, parental figures to the young cast. Even reading the short moments with Luke, Chase, and Perry working together under FRU made me smile (the boyfriends unite!). All in all, it was just nice to see the reappearance of old characters.
Lastly, “attending” the girls graduation evoked nice, heartwarming feels. I literally started reading these books when I was a young teenager so somewhat growing along with this cast has made this a special series for me.
I know this review may not reflect it well since I did elaborate on the criticisms than the positives, but I enjoyed Midnight Hour. It’s debatable if it is an necessary or unnecessary addition to the series. Again, that depends on how the reader and how he/she feels about Miranda. But either way, it was still nice to visit Shadow Falls once again. It also feels extremely gratifying to say that I’ve read the entire Shadow Falls series (spin-offs, novellas, and all). I spent time with these characters over a stretch of more than ten books, and it was great witnessing their growth and stories come full circle in the end.

As sad as it was to know that in a few weeks she wouldn’t call Shadow Falls her home, she knew change was inevitable. And while this address wouldn’t be listed on forms, it would always be listed in her heart. She took with her the life lessons she learned. Here, she’d found self-confidence. I can’t believe it is over! I have grown to really love these characters and will surely miss them. These books have always got me out of my reading slumps and been with me for some time now. For the conclusion I was happy to hear from Miranda’s POV, but I would have liked more books from her than the one. Miranda definitely picked the right guy in the end and provided a great fair well to the Shadow Falls world. If you have not read this series, what are you waiting for? You really are missing out!

AFTER 6 YEARS: 5 BOOKS IN THE ORIGINAL SHADOW FALLS SERIES, 4 BOOKS IN THE SPIN OFF SHADOW FALLS: AFTER DARK SERIES, AND ONE WHOLE BOOK THAT INCLUDES 4 NOVELLAS…THIS.SERIES.IS.OVER?!?!? I LITERALLY HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES!!
I don’t even know where to start with this review. My emotions are kind of all over the place because this series is so precious and dear to my heart, the fact that it’s over…is this how you all felt when Harry Potter was over? Cause my lawd!!!
A Brief Explanation of How This Series All Started:
If you haven’t read this series, then let me explain a little bit. There are 3 musketeers in this book, in other words best friends: Kylie, Della, and Miranda. The original story, Shadow Falls, centers around Kylie entering a boarding school named Shadow Falls Academy full of paranormal creatures. She actually doesn’t know of her ability and what she is capable of. I am keeping her paranormal creature status unknown because when you start the book, you have no idea what she is (neither does she). Then there’s Della, who is a kick-ass Asian Vampire, and the spin off series, Shadow Falls: After Dark Books 1-3 centers around her. Miranda who’s a dyslexic witch has a novella titled Spellbinder and the 4th book in the After Dark series, Midnight Hour.
This series includes faeries, vampires, werewolves, warlocks, witches, ghost whisperers, and all types of paranormal things!! It’s also full of love, laughter, friendship, family dynamic, finding yourself, and eerie things.
One thing I admire about C.C. Hunter is that regardless of who’s POV you’re on throughout all these books, you still get the Trio within all the books. Plus C.C. Hunter is one hell of a cliffhanger type of writer, leaving you wanting more of these characters.
Review:
Miranda is very hard on herself for being a dyslexic witch. Meaning sometimes when she says her spells, they aren’t correct and instead of turning a person into a cat, she’ll turn them into a kangaroo. Miranda is the type of character I can fully relate too since I am dyslexic myself and I know how frustrating it can be when you misread something a million times or say something you didn’t intend on saying so it comes out all messed up meaning something else.
Miranda goes through a near-death experience which almost ruins her and when she wakes up in the hospital, she notices this mysterious tattoo that NO ONE can explain. Holiday, who runs Shadow Falls Academy is trying to contact one person who may help explain the tattoo but getting ahold of this person is hard and while trying to get one explanation, a lot of other things are happening.
A lot of other things like: struggling with the SATs and wanting to get into the same school as her besties Kylie and Della, also struggling with her relationship and this boy she’s madly in love with. Miranda’s parents don’t have it easy as well and she pretty much pays for their broken plates.
On top of all that, there’s an FRU case going on. FRU is exactly like the FBI but they’re intended for paranormal creatures ONLY. Miranda and her sister are the highlight of this paranormal case. And if the case doesn’t close fast, loved ones might get hurt.
The writing and the plot were phenomenal and spot on. C.C. Hunter always brings that element of surprise that I absolutely love with her twist.
I loved this whole story and I ate it up quicker than I thought lol. C.C. Hunter does it again and I really wish this story wasn’t over. I can’t deal with this. On top of 2016 being a shitty ass year, us the readers also have to deal with one of the best series ever to be over? So not fair!! *throws tantrum*

Another great addition to this series! So glad we have gotten books from the perspective of different characters! Would recommend it if you enjoyed the original series!

For a change the love triangle didn't bother me. I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. maybe that's because it wasn't so prominent and neither of the guys were dicks. And that I really love Perry. His storyline was awesome. And I live for the Perry-Burnett relashionship. Again, I loved the multiple POVs. But there were still a few tiny things that bothered me.
1. That Shawn just found another girl. In all three love triangles everybody was happy in the end. Just great. But doesn't feel real.
2. The book was about Miranda, but it felt more like a Perry book. To be fair, I like perry, so that wasn't to bad. But I was disappointed that Miranda wasn't really badass. The only female character C.C Hunter did really well was Della. Kylie and Miranda were both just kinda...there.Not really investigating or anything. And I really hoped Miranda would save Perry's butt. I think I should just be glad that she saved herself in this.

For a change the love triangle didn't bother me. I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. maybe that's because it wasn't so prominent and neither of the guys were dicks. Turns out Miranda Kane had been worried about never being a good witch for nothing, she finally found her way and her magical abilities are awesome.
Glad she got her own story finally but sad to leave Shadow Falls behind after reading the novella collection next and rounding out another great series set in that world and following up with all the characters who inhabit it.

It looks like this is the final book in the series of Shadow Falls books and spin-offs. I love these characters, and I am really going to miss them. It took many books for me to warm up to Miranda, but I am glad she was the lead in this one. I love a good transformation, and Miranda went from the helpless, whining, constant-obsessing-over-boy-drama third wheel in the group to a badass who can fight her own battles... while obsessing over boy drama a little less. The girl grew on me, and I think I'll have an easier time with her when I re-read the earlier books now that I've seen what she becomes.

I finally, finally, finally finished this series!
I really love these characters. I feel like they have grown into some of my own best friends.
With that being said, I tend to lose interest in the story line with this book and the last one and was pretty much just holding out to know what everyone's final fate was.
I can't put my finger on why exactly but I just couldn't get into the mystery and the problem solving. I guess I just have enough faith that the characters will figure it out that I don't find the need to try and figure it out myself.
The final battle scene was my favorite part of the whole book and I was so happy with the "happily ever after" I'm feeling accomplished getting this series under my belt.
I really love these characters. I feel like they have grown into some of my own best friends.

I have been addicted to this series since I was in middle school. I was scared to read it because then it would be over, but it was a finale that closed the series beautifully. I love these characters so much and I'm happy that everyone got their happy ending.

I will not get emotional writing this review, I promise! Who am I kidding? I read the dedication page and got emotional! I’ve been with the Shadow Falls series all six years that it’s been showing up on shelves. The mystery that was Kylie Galen, the snarky vampire that was Della Tsang, and the dyslexic and oh-so-lovable witch that was Miranda, hold a special place in my heart. I don’t want to let them go! Alas, all good things must come to an end, I suppose, but what an ending it was!
Kylie had Lucas (werewolves for the win!), Della finally admitted her feelings for Chase (about time!), and all that was left was for darling Miranda to find her true love. No doubt about it: #TeamPerry! When I read her novella, I just had to read the rest of her story and find out whom she’d choose. Like I said, this series means so much to me, and I wanted my girls to all have their happily-ever-afters.
Miranda and Perry had a tumultuous relationship to say the least. He didn’t think he was good enough for her; she wanted to turn him into a kangaroo with the flick of her pinky whenever he thought such a thing, and they loved each other so much that it made it difficult for them to commit. It sounds backward, I know, but it made their relationship have depth, meaning. Since Miranda only got one book in comparison to the five for Kylie’s story and the three for Della’s, her HEA felt rushed at some parts. Then again, she was around for the others’ stories, so it made sense. A part of me was ecstatic that I didn’t have to sweat through a love triangle with an inevitable favorite, but the other part of me did feel the urgency to finish the story. Nonetheless, it finished perfectly, so I’m going to go wish upon a star for my own Perry…or Lucas…or Chase. I’m not picky.
There was a lot of story packed into this one book. That being said, some of the connections were complicated, and I’m still not sure how everything ties together but more invested in how everything ended up. I would have liked for Tabitha and Miranda’s relationship to have shined through a bit more, but that would have made the book longer—so long that it couldn’t have been only be one book. The Evans/Kane family had issues that will take more than the teenage years to fix, so while I would have liked more, it made sense that it stopped where it did.
I’m glad that Perry got some closure. Perry had a presence at the very beginning of the Shadow Falls saga, and it felt right getting to know him so well, being able to understand what went on in that gorgeous blonde head of his. I got to see a different side of Burnett James, the brusque vampire and closet softie, and wanted to give them both Miranda-sized hugs.
Can I reread them all again and cry while eating a ton of ice cream? Is it really over? It can’t be over! Ugh. I don’t want to accept that it’s over! This series has a special place on my shelves and in my soul! Whether you grew up with Shadow Falls, like me, or are just now discovering the eerily calm angels of death, this camp—these characters—will latch onto your heart and refuse to let go. Review: 5 out of 5 stars
I think Midnight Hour by C.C. Hunter might be my first 5 star rating all year! I am so sad to see the Shadow Falls: After Dark series come to an end, it’s been one of my favorite YA Paranormal series.
Midnight Hour is our favorite kind-hearted, lovable and at times ditzy witch Miranda Kane’s book, she has to go through many struggles in this but along with the other characters we have met throughout the series and their unwavering support she got through it all.
Miranda is having to contend with a few mysteries – an explosion that almost killed her and her sister Tabatha, a strange creature and ghost following her around, an odd tattoo that appears and disappears at will, new abilities, her conflicted feelings about Shawn and Perry and of course passing her exams so that she can go to college with her best friends Kylie and Della. A lot was fit into this book and I loved every moment of it.
There was so much happening which kept the pace flowing at a fast pace, I was excited to find out what was going to happen and I wasn’t disappointed, there was action aplenty.
The romance was done very well; I have always loved Miranda and Perry together so when she was ‘sort of’ with Shawn, despite him being great I wasn’t completely happy so I was eager to see how everything would play out; I won’t reveal who she chose to avoid spoilers but it was all done very well.
The secondary characters are all fabulous! I love the friendship that Miranda shares with Kylie and Della and the respect she shows for Burnett and Holiday. All of the characters play a pivotal role in the overall series.
I adore C.C. Hunter’s writing style, the dialogue, humour and the banter always keeps me amused. The gripping story-line kept me flipping the pages, of course we have the bad guys but they are all written to perfection and as an added bonus we get a few POV’s from Perry and also Shawn. Everything came together well and I was extremely satisfied by the conclusion.
I am saddened this series has come to an end but I am excited for what C.C. Hunter comes up with next! I’m sure it will be just as amazing.
Overall, I love the mix of paranormals we get in this series, vampires, witches, shape-shifters, fae etc. The mystery element is always done well and the characters are wonderful! I highly recommend this series to all YA paranomal fans.

Dyslexia is NOT A CURSE!!!!
Today I was procrastinating doing my homework by going through goodreads. I clicked on Midnight Hour book because I am sucker for covers with girls in floaty dresses (shallow but sadly true). I was completely shocked and insulted by the first sentence of the blurb:
"Being a dyslexic witch is a curse in itself,"
I am dyslexic and proud of it. Dyslexia allows people to think outside the box and be creative in ways non-dyslexics can't. That is not to say Dyslexia is always easy to cope with but this negative view of it is very damaging.
Dyslexia is something that is part of you and will remain part of you for your whole life by hating it you are hating part of yourself. Viewing it as a 'curse' increases the stigma that surrounding dyslexia promoting the idea that it is something you should be ashamed of and try to hide. I personally do not think it is right to make people feel like they have to hide part of themselves. Do you?
It is very easy to develop low self-esteem when you have dyslexia as you often feel stupid particularly if you only see the negative side of dyslexia. Too start to rebuild your self-esteem you have to accept there will be things you find more difficult than other people but there will also be things your better at!
It is my personal opinion (which you can disagree with) that it would be much less damaging if instead of viewing dyslexia as a disability we viewed it as a different way of thinking.
I am sure C.C Hunter did not mean to upset me but I ask that in the future that she and her publishers are more sensitive in their phrasing as their words can have a large impact .

Oh, how I hate to be at the end of all the Shadow Falls books! I still have the novellas, but I have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of these 8 books. Hunter has a way of pulling you into her stories and making you identify with her characters. I am looking forward to reading another series from her!

Such a great ending to a great series. The friendships in this book was one of the main reasons I loved it so much. Damn though cc Hunter has a thing for love triangles. Who knew that Miranda was such a badass. I think Della is my fav from the trio.

This series was so fun to read. I love all the characters and it was great getting to see each of the girls and them coming into themselves and their powers. The romantic relationships were good, but the friendships were the best part. I love seeing girls empower and support each other. The different supernatural creatures made the series very interesting and the bits of humor lightened the books. I highly recommend this series and will definitely be reading these books again!

Ugh! The series is over! I have been addicted to this series ever since I picked up the very first book: Born at Midnight. Once I started it, I binged on the whole series! To see the characters leave any future pages that could have come breaks my heart. Okay, so on to the review.
First, this book is Miranda's story. She's a dyslexic witch with issues. Her family is a hot mess. She has a choice to make between two very different guys. Magic has gone awry and she is the focus of it. Her friends are happy with their own boyfriends. She's experiencing new, very scary abilities.
1. Her mom is crazy jealous and angry with her dad. Even though she was the other woman, she hates the original wife. In her mom's eyes, Miranda is the real daughter and Tabitha is just the daughter that's in the way. Lots of screaming and family drama ensues.
2. I loved the relationship between Miranda and Tabitha. They are newly discovered sisters and are really bonding. Being sisters naturally comes with unconditional love, which these two are experiencing. Even though they are very different, it doesn't matter.
3. The magic. One wrong decision leads to a magical mishap of epic proportions. There are some unbelievable things that others have trouble believing. Nevertheless, the situation brings them into terrible danger as well as some magical problems that can't be explained. The gang tirelessly researches to find a solution.
4. As angry as Miranda is at her shape-shifting ex, Perry, she still can't shake her bond with him. He finally opens up to her about his feelings, hangups, and what he's really up to. Now she has to choose between him and her warlock boyfriend Shawn, who are compete opposites.
5. Perry's situation and Miranda's situation somehow become one in the same and all of Shadow Falls must work together to save them.
6. All of Perry's newly discovered famiial ties just complicate things more. Talk about one crazy twist after another! I would definitely have issues after dealing with his revelations.
7. I love that all Miranda's friends are there for her through the whole crazy book. The round table coke drinking didn't stop and Kylie, Della, Holliday, Burnett, Perry, Shawn, and even Tabitha were always there for her.
8. I was so sad when the story ended, but came away satisfied. The plot resolved itself in a way only C.C. Hunter could do.
This book gets ten glittery stars because it was a great end to a wonderful series.

I started reading C.C Hunter's books back when Kylie first started at Shadow Falls and was a total misfit. But then she met her two best friends: Della and Miranda. They were a balanced trio, always keeping each other in line.
I was SO excited to finally get into Miranda's head. Her and her pinky swingy head. :D The book starts out with Miranda and Tabitha (sisters) going to a cabin to get their fortunes told because Tabitha wants to know if what she has with her boyfriend is real. But things go to hell before they can find anything out. The building explodes and they barely get out with their lives.
Tabitha's boyfriend keeps looking guiltier and guiltier as the book goes on but Tabitha insists he's innocent. Miranda tries to take her sister's side but when the evidence builds up more, Miranda is starting to think maybe Tabitha's blinded by love and that maybe Anthony is guilty.
Then, there's a point of view for Perry. He found his family and is trying to find evidence to bring their gang down but not everyone trusts him so they keep a close eye on him.
In the middle of everything Miranda is trying to figure out if she wants to stay with Shawn (her new boyfriend) or go back with Perry (Does he deserve her after everything he put her through?) But I kinda started to dislike Shawn because he doesn't always seem to be too loyal.
