Mortimer happens to be the prize widower in town - but finding someone to take on his last name as well as naming sons starting with the letter M, was going to be difficult. This tall still grieving man liked things orderly, and right now there not. Now there's Lady, who never wastes anything. An oversized dog named Sebastian; 'not quite right Bill'; Katherine who is a whirlwind of activity, along with some other people who are pulled into finding out what is happening to bodies missing from the morgue, along with some found in other places.
