A vampire and a town manager walk into a bar in Charming, Alaska…

It's no joke that D'Raynged takes slacking his undead life away wicked seriously. He's a vampire of simple needs. All he wants is warm blood, his roommate's Netflix password, and to be left the hell out of all the supernatural crap that keeps happening to Chia Petit (aforementioned town manager, roommate, and best-friend-that-he-may-or-may-not-be-in-love-with).

Household maintenance is definitely not on his to-do list, especially not when it comes to the boiling red energy leak in Chia's bedroom ceiling that is dripping ghosts of all the former town managers all over the carpet. Things go from bad to worse when Chia's boyfriend insists she kick him out, and a great snowy owl bashes him in the head, sending him back to the 18th century—the last place he wants to be, and not just because of the lack of indoor plumbing.

D'Raynged must fight his way back to the present, but every choice he makes could not only change the course of the very future he's trying to get back to, but also spell certain death for the woman he can't seem to get out of his destiny's hair: Chia.

D'Raynd has lived a long time but his origins are anything but humble. In order to save himself and his roommate Chia Petit, he needs to go back in time. He needs all his wits about him if he's to succeed in this task and not lose himself along the way. Can he save them both? Your answers await you in Soul Shift.

I didn't expect the story to head the direction it did but I'm sure glad that I read it. The story and characters are real, rich, bold, honest, raw, mysterious, and complicated too. I look forward to more from this author.

Awesome and gripping read!

Well, I did not expect this turn of events when I started this book.
If you wanted to know more about D’Raynged and how he came to be then this book will keep you hooked.

In a battle of wills between the vampire, his roommate Chia (whom he may be having feelings for) and her boyfriend Hung, D’Raynged has an unbelievable trip down memory lane. Strange things are still happening in the town of Charming and the battle with Red Mountainbear continues.
D'Raynged has a chance to make a change to his destiny and his actions will have consequences that he could never have imagined.

I can't say too much without giving away the plot but this book was epically awesome and I cannot wait for the next one!

I read an ARC of this book voluntarily for an honest review.

This is a very interesting read and gives you a very intimate look at D'Raynged's life before and after he became a vampire. He and Chia Petit have had a very different kind of relationship and it is pushed to the breaking point in this book.

It started a little slow for me. I wasn't sure what to expect and really wanted to see more of him and Chia together. Once it got more into his life and how it shaped him, I got really interested in it. It is quite an adventure to see him go thru centuries of experiences. There are some very difficult times in his life that pack a very emotional punch. The end of the book really brought it all together for me.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

I was more than ready to get into this one needing the wrap up also. I did not want to leave Charming though with thoroughly enjoying this place and the characters. You also will find that Netflix will find you anywhere lol. We are really taken on a humdinger in this one with us hanging on tightly at times. D'Raynged and Chia present this one to ya with their story of adventure and mayhem. I think I took alittle longer in reading this one to so I could savor the story. For sure the unusual does come about in this one with it keeping you on your toes on what will go on next. Holding tight can be said also when things get a bit chancy. All in all excellent addition to this series.

Wow, this book took a turn I was not expecting, but I will say it kept me interested. We get to know more about D'Raynged on his past and what choices he makes now reliving his past. Hung has kicked him out and Chia went with it. Hung wants to kill him. Will Hung kill him or will he fight back? What does Chia think now that D'Raynged is gone? The red energy in her home is getting worse will she survive this or will he parish without D'Raynged's help? What will Hung do to help her? I received an ARC copy for my honest review.

My fourth read from author Calinda B & the fourth book in The Charming Shifter Mysteries. Well-written & enjoyable (246 pages & almost 8 hours of listening enjoyment); I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the southern drawl, vocal variety & inflections of the narrator, switching to a male narrator as the point of view of this story changed to D'Raynge was a nice touch on the author’s part. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

What a rush! This story kept me on my toes unlike any of the rest. We’ve all watched Hung try to control things and failing epicly. D’Raynged has been a major staple to the story but things have been hard with her being hung up on Hung. With this story, we learn a lot more information and find out how things end with Red and all these confusing feelings that’s been going on. I cannot wait to see how her magic progresses and how these two make out in their relationship. I loved this series and I’m looking forward to more from the series.

I’m voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Wow. So apparently what it took for me to love the story wholeheartedly was for Chia not to be the main leading character. I adore who we see D'Raynged to be in this book. There are so many more layers and depths to him than we’ve been allowed to see up to this point. Even Chia seems to have grown by the time we reach the end. What I didn’t expect, was that I would actively dislike Hung during this story. I can’t wait to see what the final book has to show us.
I received a complimentary copy of this book as part of a box set.

Soul shift is the fourth in the Charming Shifter Mysteries series. This book is written from Chia's former vampire roommate, D'Raynged. D'Raynged disappears from Charming and finds himself back in time, reliving the life he'd lived before being turned vampire. This time he is given a second chance to redeem himself and in the meantime, realizes he cares for Chia much more than as a friend. As always, Calinda B has packed this book with interesting characters, loads of action, romance, suspense and a happily ever after for our favorite town manager.

First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.

OMG!!! This is book 4 and it's just off the charts, so much better than books 1, 2, & 3, and they were gr8. This story was mostly about D'Raynged, the vampire. This story opens up so much more than I thought possible. I loved it. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up

I am loving this series! Each book can be a standalone but the characters are involved in each book. The stories just keep getting better and better. This book deals with Chia and D'Ranged a vampire. Lots of suspense, action and some time traveling. Imagine having to go back in history to change the present to save the future. Great story! A must read! You won't be disappointed! I received this arc and volunteered to review it.

At first, I was so confused about where this storyline was going. it's so different from the other books in tbe series but I have to say that I absolutely loved it (except for Hung). Great narration, loved the depth that this read/listen gave Chia and D. Good flow (there were a few parts in this listen that repeated) but this definitely has me wanting more!

this book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

I have read all the previous books in the series but this one is very different. it is nothing like the others. I guess things are going into a completely different direction. I will have to wait and see what happens to judge if I like it or not. I really liked it up to now.

What an adorable story that is impossible to not love. A vampire that just wants to be left alone to do his thing. Obviously things don’t work that way. Ready for more by this superb writer.

Loved it. So interesting how a change can make a difference. This is the best book in this series. I hope that there’s going to be more books. Just prepare to hold on because there’s a roller coaster coming.

Well written but not my cup of tea. I really liked the first three books but this one incorporated themes/troupes that just DO NOT interest me, had a hard time finishing!

Again, this book as all the others was Well written with interesting characters and wonderful world building.

However, time travel even minimal amounts is not even remotely interesting to me.

If you like the previous books and don't mind time travel, read this book!

I received this as an Advanced Reader Copy.

Ok, this is just a a “quickie” review. Unfortunately, I’m in in a hospital and asked my husband to post this since I don’t have the time to do better - even though the book definitely deserves it.

Charming, Alaska is the perfect place to set an urban fantasy, and I totally adore both D'Raynged, with his vampire-slacker of simple needs lifestyle, and his roommate / best friend / possible live interest Chia Petit. Getting the aforementioned vamp in a different setting / century? Pure catnip. Bottom line: five stars. This was one wonderfully fun novel and definitely recommended. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters.
