Amazing Story - Riveting, Engaging, Suspenseful
I was instantly pulled into this story set in a future South America after a nuclear war. It is not a long book and you can read it pretty fast, which is a good thing since you will not want to put it down. This book continues the story from book one, there are more outcasts who join the group. They go on a mission to rescue the mother of our main character Jin. Jin had been a prisoner of King Borran for a year. After she was grafted, against her will, with animal tissue and cells she was able to escape with the help of Adan, who is also now being hunted. King Borran then abducted Jin’s mother as bait. There is so much more going on, lots of great characters you feel for them all. A story filled with hope but also has its share of sadness and tragedy. It is non stop action, suspense with a good mix of plot, great characters and very interesting descriptions of the setting. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

I am going to preface all of my reviews for the books in the series by saying that I wish I would have reviewed each book as I read it; instead, I kept reading right on through & now I don't remember exactly where each book ended. Regardless, I loved the whole series!
I was glad Graph Secrets left no gap when it picked up where Animal Graph left off, especially since so much was left unresolved; I wouldn't have called it a cliffhanger exactly, yet we were left mid-story in terms of finding Jin's mother. In this second installment, as Jin & Adan, along with Ostir, Klen, Sum & Lila, continue the quest to find & rescue her, they connect with a doctor and a small group of illegal graphs. The storyline is full of action & all the different abilities the characters have are so darn interesting, I think it would be impossible to lose interest! I love the descriptions of the scenery and events; being set in the African jungles makes it colorful & intriguing.
The only downfall for me with this particular part of the series was the graphic description of violence toward an animal character. While I shouldn't have been surprised based on the premise of the series, it still came as an unwanted shock for me as I am incredibly sensitive to any animals being hurt, even fictional ones. All-in-all though, I was invested enough in finding out what happens with the remainder of the characters & their quest to change their world so that I was committed to continuing. This book again ends with the culmination of one sub-plot while leaving the bigger storyline of ending Borran's reign unfinished, so I was totally compelled to read on....

Book 2 starts from the end of Book 1 and the action is non-stop. I sat down and read it all in one setting. Had to know what would happen. Loved the twists and turns and the scenery as Jin looks for her Mom. Was interesting to read how the group stuck together and made plans to storm the Mansion. Was surprised a few times too. I love this series as I can easily see it all happen in the future so made the read more realistic. Loved to hate the bad guys. I received a free copy and my honest review is that I love this series. I feel it has it all - twists, good guys trying to defeat the bad guys, great action scenes that made me feel like I was there and true friendship. I just got sucked into the story just like book 1 and was upset when it ended. Wanted more story. Oh wait, there will be more coming.

Just as in her first book, author M. Black takes readers on a fantastic journey in Graph Secrets, book two of the Graph World series. The book makes use of the author’s talent for description and dialogue to create strong, active scenes that beg to be part of a film, as well as begging for more story to be told by the end.

Black takes a series of science fiction ideas and juxtaposes them with a first person narrative that creates energy and intensity. Not only that, but the characters Black paints into this world carry the story for us, as well.

There is a lot at work in this book, enough to fill several entries in a series, and the result is something like The Island of Dr. Moreau meets The Maze Runner. A highly enjoyable second entry.

I really enjoyed both Animal Graph and Graph Secrets but be warned that Graph Secrets starts abruptly in the middle of the story so it is worth taking the time to read Animal Graph first. In Graph Secrets Adan and Jin team up with Juan and some of his friends, get themselves tattooed so they won't stand out, and they plan the attack on Borran's animall facility. For Jin this is a way to negotiate to get her Mama back, for most of the others they want to get back at Borran. They attack and place bombs at the animal facility, releasing the animals. They then head to Borran's home to release Mama. Not everything turns out quite the way they hope but the story keeps you enthralled and it is definitely worth the read.

I enjoyed this second book in the series … Jin is trying to rescue her mother … we find out about more graph abilities and gain some new friends along the way. Lots of suspense and creativity in terms of blending humans and animals. Note: I received an Advanced Reader copy; this is my honest review.

This book picks up right where Animal Graph left off. Jin and company make a play to stop the government control over Graphs. I found that this book moved faster than the first one did. I'm excited to read the next book in the series.
