Magic meets football in this fun-filled series from legendary footballer Frank Lampard, for readers aged 5 and up. Frankie and his team love playing football. There's always time for a game - whether it's real or on-screen! When Frankie is injured just before a five-a-side tournament, he's worried his team will have to pull out. So, when the magic football brings Frankie's gaming avatar through into the real world, it seems like they've got a perfect substitute. But E-Frankie starts to cause lots of trouble on and off the pitch. What will it take to get him back into the game where he belongs? Have you discovered the rest of the series yet? Frankie and his team play football with pirates, dinosaurs, aliens and everything in between!
I think it is great that Frank Lampard is (co-)writing books for kids, both boys and girls. Having worked hard to make the most of his abilities to reach and stay at the top of the game and his clean image, he is a great role model and this connection through books could inspire the next generation not just to read but also to lead clean, healthy, sporty lives.
This is the 20th book in the series and starts with the doctor seeing Frankie who has ankle ligament damage. The doctor orders him to take a couple of weeks' rest. "A couple of weeks! The town under-12 five-a-side tournament is happening in six days' time." "[Frankie] felt like he was letting everyone down - Charlie, Louise, Kobi and Hannah."
With Frankie feeling down Charlie wants to cheer him up so brings round a games console to his house with the game FantastyScorer2. First thing they do in the game is create their avatars, E-versions of themselves. They stop playing for dinner but Max, Frankie's dog, is playing with Frankie's magic football next to the console and makes the E-version of Frankie comes alive. "Maybe my team don't have to pull out of the tournament after all. What if we've got the perfect substitute?" thinks real Frankie. But E-Frankie ends up being troubles. E-Frankie is a bit of an evil-Frankie.
Overall a good, exciting story, that mixes football and computer games, two favourite activities of children today.
It was good for football lovers it wasn’t real but it made me feel in the book. It was also good for console lovers I’ll try not to spoiler but they make characters and they come to life…. It was really good hope you like my review. I think it’s good cause the frank lampard written it!
