About the author

Novels of French writer Jules Gabriel Verne, considered the founder of modern science fiction, include Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864) and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).

This author who pioneered the genre. People best know him for Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870).

Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before people invented navigable aircraft and practical submarines and devised any means of spacecraft. He ranks behind Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie as the second most translated author of all time. People made his prominent films. People often refer to Verne alongside Herbert George Wells as the "father of science fiction."

On continue les effroyables histoires qui se mettent sur la route du brave Michel Strogoff accompagné de la courageuse Nadia.
Il faut se hâter et ne pas perdre de temps. Ce temps si précieux est vivement compté pour arriver à Irkoutsk pour délivrer le message de l’empereur à son frère, le Duc, pris au piège par l’armée Tartares qui arrive sur la ville.

De belles rencontres en chemin, des paysages magnifiques mais également des orages, des animaux, les affres de la guerre, les durs tartares et la mort se mettront sur sa route.
Embarquez pour la deuxième partie de cette aventure à cent à l’heure où chaque pas devra être minutieusement choisi pour échapper à son ennemi juré Ivan Ogareff.

Gracias a esta novela, estuve viajando a través de la Rusia imperial. Seguí los pasos de Michel Strogoff en un mapa. Me gustó mucho el viaje, aunque al final estaba un poco harta. Suele pasar en los viajes.

El peligro que suponía viajar por territorios que ya han ocupado las fuerzas rebeldes se ha consumado: Miguel Strogoff ha sido hecho prisionero. Mientras no se descubra quién es y cual es su misión no hay problema, pero si no pudiera mantener su anonimato, se encontraría en graves problemas. Tanto él como sus seres queridos. Será muy difícil acabar la misión, aunque nuestro héroe, como decía Ethan Hawke en Gattaca "nunca dejé nada para la vuelta..."

Como buen escritor de novela de aventuras, Verne putea a sus personajes... demasiado. Vale que están bien las estructuras en las que se incluyen "un triple mortal con tirabuzón reverso", pero en cierto punto cansan, o al menos a mí, un poco. En ese sentido, me ha recordado un poco a "Los hijos del Capitán Grant". Por eso no le doy las cinco estrellas. Eso si, en los momentos de pausa, hay algunas escenas muy emocionantes, pocas veces he visto a Verne tan sentimental, en el mejor sentido de la palabra.

Según veo en internet, creo que me he saltado "El Chancellor". Voy a ver si la encuentro y puede ser la siguente reseña.

It took me more than 10 years from first reading the first volume, and maybe 2 years since buying this volume to read it but it did not disappoint.

Can't say it is the best book i have ever read, what with it being an old portuguese translation and all, but it was entertaining.
