So, Book 18! I usually start with the second book in the series, but here I am, reviewing book 18. I liked it quite enough, taking into account my loyalty to vampire books. Even if it’s not (at all) the beginning of the series, I could follow along the story quite well. The action starts from the first pages and kept me bound until the very end! It is a story that has unimaginable twists, some I liked, some I did not. Because this is a spoiler free review, I cannot touch all of them, but I’ll manage.
The narrator is none other than our main character, Danial. He tells his story openly, more like a confession of all his sins. I felt like I was reading his diary, with all his darkest secrets untangled. We already know half of what is going to happen from the brief description he provides, but the details are so significant and everything is tied together in an interesting way. His life was not an easy one, he has had to work for everything and settled with what he obtained. His love life was nothing exceptional, but his vampire self is what brings interest to the story.
The negative characters had their shade of grey as well. In the beginning, I honestly thought they did what they did just because it was the only way to keep the balance. And maybe that was a reason. There is a soft side to the bad guys and I liked that too.
But there are some items that are not to my taste and I would have liked to be warned a little. There are some M/M scenes that were not descriptive enough, but unreciprocated. Also, there are things happening next to a holy place (cannot detail on that) that almost made me stop reading the book. Once I managed to get over this episode, all it was ok.
With all these in mind, I will offer my 3.5 stars to “Immortal Reckoning”, adding a mental note to read more about this series. I mean, there are 18 books, and if all will offer such turns of events, I’m in for some great reading time. So have fun and happy reading!

This is the story Danial who has tried to be free from his controlling father and makes his life as a farm hand and marries the farmers daughter, who gives him a son. But things drastically change for Danial and lies and betrayal become known. Then years later Danial and his half brother Devlin were attacked by a ghoul. The next morning found there group lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Finding Devlin still alive this was there journey into the unknown. This was a good story , being able to get to know Danial and why he was on this path to revenge. Danial’s half brother Devlin I did like being the only brother that would help Danial out, but also a bit of a playboy. I look forward to the next instalment in this “Promise Me” series by Tara Fox Hall
