Adorable story about a father who hangs a feeder outside the family home for the birds. The kids love the project, but a pesky squirrel spoils the event by eating the seeds and leaving the birds with nothing. The father keeps coming up with ideas and each one is foiled by the clever squirrels. Together, the family comes up with a solution that leaves everyone pleased. Cute and realistic, I sympathize with the father- we have a similar squirrel problem with our feeders. Colorful with lovely pictures identifying local birds. Informative, fun, and a pleasure to read.

This story starts when some kids make a bird feeder at school, but it is not that effective because they find out a squirrel is eating all the seeds. Determined not to be outdone by the mischievous squirrel, the family decides to make another bird feeder. This time it is more sturdy and many different birds come to feed from it. But even with the new feeder they are outsmarted by the squirrel who still eats some seeds. So in a twist that shows kids how to tackle practical problems, mom and dad experiment to solve this problem too! Kids will love the antics of this cheeky squirrel and will be eager to know what happens after various experiments with creating feeders, so that a happy solution is finally found. Highly recommended.

Daddy vs The Squirrels was so much fun on so many levels! I started to suspect that the tale of daddy trying to stop the pesky squirrels taking the bird seed from the feeder was true (It is!). This book showed you all the drama step-by-step of the things that daddy tried, and how the squirrels outwitted him again and again. Will he succeed? The pictures are cartoon and fabulous with a great sense of movement and drama, the wording is clear and you really want to find out what happens next. I really recommend this! Oh, and you can learn how to make a basic bird feeder too. Any child will love this. Well done

Author Paul Sterman has penned an exciting adventure of a family fighting to keep the squirrels away from the bird feeders.

Eric and Emma each made a bird feeder at school. Their father hung both in a tree. This humorous story tells how the cunning squirrels devised a way to eat all the seeds from the birds.

Will the family devise a way to get rid of those pesty squirrels?

Boys and girls will love all the information in this story, like how to make a bird feeder, the names of some birds who eat from a feeder, and how the problem was solved so birds and squirrels could learn to live together.

The illustrations are brilliant and help bring this kid-friendly story to life.

Dad Figures It Out

This is a great picture book that tackles a real problem that many children have witnessed. Squirrels are experts at figuring out how to get bird seed from a feeder, but this story is of a persevering dad that just won’t give up. In the end to everyone’s surprise, the problem is solved and the squirrels do not loose. I love the bird and squirrel info provided. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this book about the family versus the squirrels. I loved how the dad kept trying new ways to stop the squirrels from stealing all the seeds. It reminded me of my dad when I was younger and how the squirrels drove him nuts stealing from the feeder. The illustrations compliment the story as well. I highly recommend this book to families with little ones.
