Son of Saint

Rate this book
An old lady from Delirium MC.
The president from Reckless Rebellion MC.
Merge between the sheets in one hot, illicit affair.

An unexpected pregnancy.
And the birth of a son – Deacon Cruz – torn between two clubs.

To be a ruthless outlaw or a charming gentleman, Deacon ignites a wild reaction everywhere he turns. From childhood with his mother, Trudy, to running away at sixteen, he remains allied to both good and evil with his own brand of spiritual wickedness. His mother built him and his father defined him, but his friendship with Sal Raniero tests his fortitude, forcing the uprising of a Deacon – the future Saint – and learning to play for one––Himself.

Standalone.
There is no romance here, but there is plenty of BROMANCE in this brash look at the two young men – Sal Raniero and Deacon Cruz – from their early days on the streets of New Orleans. Lots of kink, violence, and Sami-stylings.

We are dropped into a tale of a young man raised in the rough and brutal world of gangs, clubs and mobsters. Deacon grew up the blood son of a legend, raised by his rival. Without some sort of grounding background to identify who Deacon is and why we are getting bits and pieces of his life’s story, this is a slightly jarring read. Imagine trying to piece together a puzzle in the dark. That is how I felt reading SON OF SAINT by Kailee Reese Samuels.

Deacon’s story is told in fits and starts, feeling like just one more page would so often have completed a thought started. I still do not know Deacon, I was a voyeur to his sexual experimentation, his affinity for breasts, I witnessed his ability to bring pain and death, I heard brief snippets about his parents, but nothing gelled for me. To call this a standalone is misleading to readers who have no previous knowledge of a series this character is mentioned in.

Perhaps I was even more disappointed because I thought I would be getting another dark “bad boy” story uncovering a tarnished knight in shining armor, an anti-hero who melts one’s heart as another gritty, no-holds barred author writes.

I received an ARC edition from Kailee Reese Samuels through Book Funnel as part of a blog tour review!

I've been intrigued by Deacon since I met him in Kailee Reese Samuels' other books, so of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn more about him!

Through flashbacks, interviews and present scenes , Deacon's personality reveals itself little by little. I don't want to say to much because it would be so easy to spoil the experience! He has that darkness inside of him and at the same time he yearns to find his tribe. His evolution from the sixteen years old he was to the master he is becoming was impressive.

"Walk your own path.”

Son of Saint is a complex book, clever, its multi-layered plot gripped me to no end. Trying to keep track of everything was very fun and entertaining. While you focus on one thing, it's so easy to miss the larger picture or on the contrary, the little hints sprinkled everywhere! In true Kailee fashion every word counts!

That bromance made me cry, laugh, swoon and furiously fan myself. Once more the author perfectly captured her characters' emotions.  The Unholy Trinity that are these three alpha men shares an incredible bond, but don't think everything came easily....  Oh, the first time Sal and Deacon met was priceless. And memorable! Hate, jealousy, love, trust, respect, created an astounding cocktail between the three of them, where it was fun to lose myself.

"We are bonded so deep in our soul that nothing could break us apart.”

Be careful, though, not to get too comfortable because these testosterone infused pages have a way to make you let your guard down, and when reality (KRS) strikes...

Don't wait any longer,  take the plunge into KRS's, I can't recommend it enough! Enjoy, ladies!!!

Son of Saint is another fantastic read by this author. This is my favourite of this authors so far. I’ve prob said that before but she has this knack to amaze me each time I read a book from her.

In Son of Saint we get Deacon Cruzs story. We met him in Raw and I was super happy to hear his story. As well as reading more about familiar characters such as Sal Raneiro we get introduced to some new characters as well.

I cannot praise this author highly enough. This book pulled on all my emotions. I found the storyline well thought out and unique. The characters are solid and likeable.

I’m really looking forward to reading more from this author.

Why is it we are not allowed to give Books more than a 5 star rating? If we could, I would give this book 10+! It tells the story of Deacon Cruz, who we were introduced to in Raw. And Sal Raneiro, who needs no introduction if you are a follower of Juliet and SOS and The Ride Series. It tells the story of how these two Alpha males became friends and the journey it took to get them there. Throughout this book many questions were answered and new ones brought up. This book is at times funny, dark, emotional and even “Kindle throwing”. But all in all I absolutely loved this book. This is so extremely well written and I am a bit emotional after reading it. But I can’t wait for the next one! Do yourself a huge favor, and read this amazing story! Just remember Believe.Faith.Trust.

Deacon, the son of Saint, hits the spotlight in this book. Introduced in Raw, Samuels brings us back to where it all starts for Deacon. Parents from opposing clubs and step-son to a monster, Deacon tries to forge his own path in life. Yet with so many different hands at play, his life, for the most part, is on a pre-calculated trajectory.
Samuels writing style was different for this book, weaving the past and present together, and then alternating with various characters we have come to know in her books being interviewed.
Of course, these books cannot be complete without Sal Raniero, and we learn how he came crashing into Deacon's life and built a lifelong bond.
I found so many quotes in this book that I either could completely relate to or that just hit me hard. But I think this one was my favorite because too often in life, we are walking blind, and only realize something treasured when it has passed us by:
"I wanted that kind of beauty to be blessed on me. It was an odd request, I know. I had walked the path to an enlightenment for so long, but I had missed the lessons of splendor."
Son of Saint is another great book in the series that helps to close some of the gaps while leaving it open to give us more in the characters we have come to know and love.

Deacon Cruz, DAMN he is one hot, hot complicated but definitely HOT man! Born of his mother's affair with the president of a rival MC club he is a tough and ruthless biker with a troubled past. This story takes us on Deacon's journey of self discovery and it shows him how life and loyalties truly can set us on path we never thought of before. Very well written this book was a triumph of miss Kailee's ingenious and very creative mind, the characters are so well rounded you believe every moment and are kept captivated until the very last word.

I've been a long time fan of Kailee Reese Samuels' mostly because she has a very interesting spin on a popular throbe ever since the release of 50 Shades series by EL James. BDSM isn't very well received on the most part - too many think that submission is almost equal to rolling on to your back and giving the other person whatever they want, bordering on abuse. Kailee Reese Samuels takes that subject, shows her readers the potential and the effect that this lifestyle has on an individual and then makes it her own.

It won't be explosive. It won't be flagrantly erotic. Nor will it make your stomach turn with gore. What her books will do is create a slow burn. A feast for the senses. And it will make you want to find out everything there is about her characters. When she first introduced Deacon in Raw, everyone, and i do mean everyone, was curious about the man that came to save Amber, the princess that thought she could have it all. Deacon is a mystery. He's heir to two different MC's because of his lineage, and yet, he's nothing of what i would have expected. He's hard and dark, yes, but he's more than that.

This book gave us the first initial taste of how Deacon is linked to the Juliet world, on how he's able to connect with Sal in many aspects, and at the same time, it's absolutely different from all of the Juliet books, mostly because it gives us a look into a new world separate from Juliet - a world where anyone can be your best friend and your worst enemy.

Let's get down to business... I'm so freaking happy that this lady has a new book. I love her writting and I'm always eager for more.
Kailee Reese Samuels is a genius. Not only can she write some heartfelt and intense stories as well as some steamy and raw ones. I'm addicted to her writting and I can't get enough.
Son of Saint is her latest release and tells Deacon's story.
Deacon was known to us after appearing in Raw and I wanted to know more about him since then. I had so many questions...
I'm not gonna talk to much about this hunk of a man because I hate spoilers so I totally advise you to read all books from this series. Let's just say that he's a ruthless man with a troubled past...
The plot is amazing, very well written, super engaging and with a touch of hotness.
The interation between the characters, despite being surrounded by troubles and darkness is engaging and amazing.
This book presented us with darkness, deceive, crime, punishment as well as love, friendship and so much more.
Once I started to read this story I simply couldn't and wouldn't put it down. I wanted to keep reading and reading non stop.
This author is becoming one of my favorite authors because her writting has the ability to do things to me.
Oh Kailee I'm so glad I found you. Your books are imprinted on my heart and I want so much more. What's next?
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Lovable Chaos

Son of Saint is the perfect addition to the Sugargrove saga. Kailee Reese Samuels once again nails the dark, kinky romance. It’s a high octane thrill ride with a surprising, but welcome, lightness.

This ride with Deacon and the gang invites you to see old characters and answers questions about how they came to be who they are in present day. The lovable chaos between Sal and Deacon is downright hilarious, making this reader snort and he-haw more than once. I will not leave out that there are a few moments of pure tragedy (KRS would not have it any other way), but she softens the blow by once again leaving us with a mind-bending twist! Be prepared with tissues, soda, candy, and cigarettes because you are going to need some comforting!

I don't feel right only giving this a 4 star. I'm sure if I would have read the other books this characters were first in, it would have been great. I was trying to figure out what I missed. I really want to read the other books and then come back and leave a new review when I'm more with the characters. I mean the book was great but I was kind of lost to why. I don't know. I loved the other book I read from this author so I was excited. So let me get back on this review for you. But I did find that Deacon Cruz is a seriously hot guy with deep emotions. Off and on I did like this book but I just need to know more.
Thank you. Be expecting an update review soon.

This one is about Deacon Cruz. Very interesting book from beginning to end. I will admit I did have a hard time reading this one that is why it took me so long to finish. It is intense and interesting book don't get me wrong was just difficult for me to get into. Deacon is a very unique character and has a unique story line. It is about Deacon finding himself and seeing how he became the person that he is. A good interesting book.

Ever meet an author who drags you into a storyline, rips out your heart, but leaves you begging for more??
Let me introduce you to the Amazing Kailee Reese Samuels, not only is she an Incredible Writter, but an All together Incredible Story Teller.
Here she introduces us to Deacon Cruz, another “Bad Boy” in her wonderful world. But is Deacon really a “Bad Boy” or just another misunderstood young man? ust the name Deacon makes me sigh, add in Sal and lets not forget Dom.. straight to tingles!! If you've read most of Kailee's books you know Sal and we met Deacon in Raw, and let me tell you that man... swoon worthy... looks, attitude, and damn does he love his woman!! But this book takes us back to his beginnings, his parents (if you want to call them that) from two different MC's and all the abuse thrown his way and how he decides to take on his life. This is also a story with Sal's start, how these two meet and become friends and share a loyalty and friendship that spans years. This story has some characters that we know from the past books and I so enjoyed getting a look in their pasts, you will laugh with these men, wonder wtf, and definitely need more of them. Ms. Samuels writes beautifully, layer upon layer, giving use drama, angst, intrigue, loyalty, friendship and lets not forget those "special" moments.. and boy can she write those scenes!! If you want a book that make you think and feel, that makes you think your right there with these characters, then get this book. You may get mad at times, laugh at others, maybe even want to throw your reader, but I bet you'd wish you could climb in and be a part of it all. No one tells a story quite like Ms. Samuels and I must say outstanding job!!

Deacon Cruz

“The scribe, the killer, and the holy Saint.”

Where the heck do you start with this trilogy? SONS is the backstory of TAT in all its Mafia, MC and kink glory. These three may lull you into believing they’re an easy read, but this is just the calm before the storm. Sons of mafia and MC royalty, their lives were destined to head down a path they’d never control.

I adore Deacon Cruz. Thus begins his induction into the unholy Trinity, and Sal.

“If they were saving the helpless or exorcising the demons of their past, they did it together with the blessing of their unholy trinity—Sal, Dom, and Deacon.”

After Juliet, and Kaci’s death, we’re introduced to Deacon’s reason for being. Son Of Saint is delivered via flash backs and interviews with the main characters, setting the foundations leading into TAT.

These two are inseparable in their shared lives, love and loss.

“The archangels wake the minions of their homeland—hell. Seeing them together, I understand their bond is tight and almost impenetrable.”

Their backstories are crucial to understand the bond developed between them. I literally flip between timelines happily, checking and rechecking picking up new insights each time.

“Lucas Salvatore Raniero is with me.  And that makes all the difference.”

Back to my re-read and more of these gorgeous boys between TAT books.

“We are not tucked away, fearful orphans—abandoned, alone, and small as together, we become the shadow looming over the face of pure evil.”

To say that this book was on my highly anticipated list would be a huge understatement. I couldn’t wait to get my greedy hands on it. Son of Saint is the epic introduction of Deacon and Sal’s friendship. We are given insight on how the unholy trinity between Dominic Gennaro, Lucas Salvatore Raniero and Deacon Cruz was formed. While Dom is present throughout the story, it is focused mainly on the relationship between Deacon and Sal.

“He is like my blood. The brother I never had. We are bonded so deep in our soul that nothing could break us apart.”

How can I describe Deacon? He is one of my favorite male characters that Kailee Reese Samuels has written, which is saying a lot because of the mad love I have for Sally. Deacon is the child of an affair between two rival MCs and because of this he has not had it easy life. Due to this you would think that he would be unstable, mean and cold but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He is a deep, loyal, honest and charming gentleman who can be a little shy at times. But make no mistakes he can still be a monster if the situation calls for it. I fell hopelessly in love with him in RAW (Ride Series Book 3).

“Deacon had all the makings of charm and wit and spiritual comfort to make a sinner praise his name.”

The meeting of Deacon and Sal is priceless and I enjoyed it immensely. Both are use to being the alpha and always the one in control but their connection is extremely special and something that we don’t see often. Even though, personality wise, they are total opposites they balance each other out and share an unbreakable bond.

“The blood pact between Deacon and Sal assured their brotherhood bond would never be broken. Their web together lassoed with ribbons of fine spider silk.”

Kailee Reese Samuels writing pulls so much emotion from me. I was clutching my kindle nervous as hell over what the next sentence would bring. I always seem to lose myself in her books a feel like I’m right alongside the characters experiencing everything they do. She never fails to draw at least one tear from me. Her writing style is a little different in this one but it is still just as captivating as ever. Ms. Samuels keeps me on my toes with plot twists and questions swirling around in my head. There was never a dull moment. My mind was focused and I was engaged through the whole journey.

“These people they do not play a linear game; it is multi-dimensional and motivational, one plus one doesn’t necessarily equal two.”

We get dabble into other characters heads a little which is an added bonus and I CANNOT wait for what she is giving us next. This is a must read especially if you are a fan of sweet, sexy dominant men who can be ruthless when necessary and stories that will leave you yearning for the next word.

“All things in the interest of Deacon Cruz—after all, he is a Saint.”

Deacon Cruz is a complex man but how could he not be after the upbringing he had and really his conception as well. Complicated seems to be his life, throw in a mix of extreme violence and crime, add a touch of love from his mother and a heap of lust and you have his story...or do you? Did I mention he was complicated?

This story returns to his youth and gives readers his background history, what helped to shape him as well as insight into his two friends Sal and Dom. I have to say at times I did find it a little disjointed in its style though. The interviewing technique had both positive and negative qualities; a lot of information is gained from various characters points of view first hand however I found it off putting at times at the interruption to the flow of the story.

The spiritual side of the BDSM aspect is refreshing in its entirety and brings a different approach to the whole topic. I found this was handled very smoothly. When the tension and drama built towards the end it was extremely exciting and had you on the edge of your seat wondering how they were going to get out of their mess!

I do suggest you read this authors previous books about these characters, it’s not imperative but I believe it’s helpful and insightful.

Son of Saint

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog

If there is one thing I love in a book is a complicated but hot as anything male lead and that is exactly what I got with Deacon and Sal in Son of Saint! I am usually a big fan of romance and happily ever after so I thought it was time for a change – and I definitely got that with this book! I don’t know how I haven’t read anything by this author before but her books are now definitely going on my TBR list!! I especially want to read more about these characters!!
I liked the uniqueness of the storyline, I’ve read quite a few mob/MC stories but this one was very different and I really liked it! I didn’t know if I should like Deacon, I didn’t feel like I got to know him that well but I couldn’t help but feel for him, for the life he led. I think that the author did an amazing job with creating such a complex character.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!!

Kailee Reese Samuels has a very original writing style that no one will ever duplicate, and in my opinion, is the reason her stories will always stand above cookie cutter type romance, as they are brilliantly different, not to mention highly addictive. And Son of Saint is another example of what I just stated above. This is the backstory of Deacon Cruz, the man that we met in Raw. He was raised in a rough world of gangs, clubs, and mobsters, as the son of legend, but raised by a rival. His journey also shows how he & his buddy Sal Raneiro, (Who also has his own story out.), became friends along the way. I know it sounds generic, but see, I hate spoiler douchery, as authors work hard on their books, so reviewers shouldn't give things away. I can say this, it's a journey that can be dark & gritty, but funny & emotional on the flip side. Deacon is a complicated, but mouthwatering man that everyone should get to know, so do yourselves a solid & just read this amazing story that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

What an amazing read, If you have read Raw...your going to LOVE Son of Saint!!
Emotional and at times a dark read, it will pull at your heart strings and hold you captive from the first page.
From the moment you start reading Samuels takes you on a journey of heartache, suspense and drama, that will eat away at your soul!!
Son of Saint enhances every emotion you ever felt while reading Raw and doubles it!!
I found the secondary characters held more influence in this book than it’s predecessor, giving the reader more insight into there relationships/friendships.
Samuels has done this with her unique writing style, introducing characters throughout the book, interview style....brilliance!!!
By bringing the past and present together Samuels has enabled the reader to gain a back story which showcases why friendships where formed and how they lasted the test of time and circumstance.
Son of Saint is the story of Deacon Cruz...it’s anything but roses!!

Oh wow another brilliant book from one of my unicorn authors no matter what Kailee writes I know I'm gonna love it.

Son of saint is Deacon's story, we first met him in Raw and after reading that book I couldn't wait to read to about Deacon's back story. We get to see the man he becomes and his life which is colourful to say the least. We get to see some old characters from previous books in the series make a fantastic return especially one of my favourite Dom's Sal from the world of Juliet. And we get to see how these two become best of friends their journey together is amazing and it's the back bone of this story.

This book is awesome and I can't say a bad word about it but then again I can't say a bad word about Kailee either she is an amazing writer that gets into your mind with the characters she writes.

I can't wait to read what's next. Five stars is really not enough for this book.

Ok I’m a little torn about this review, I really like Kailee and I think she has some amazing potential.
Son of Saint can be read as a standalone but for me in all honesty I was lost for most of the book as a lot of characters are from and have obviously developed relationships from her other books. This made it difficult to read and understand some of the plot to a certain point.
About half way through I found my groove for a bit but was still a tad confused at times.
There was however no denying that Deacon Cruz is a deeply emotional and serious hot guy and when you throw Sal in the mix it makes for some pretty hot scenes.
This book is about self discovery and fighting for what you believe in which are two very strong themes. There are a lot of characters to keep tabs on and it’s a heavy read but all in all a good one.

A bit confusing at times
The fact that despite feeling a bit lost-It took me until the end to figure out -somewhat -where everyone was and exactly what was going on - I found myself thoroughly engaged and absolutely captivated
The characters- both main and supporting- were intense - complex - this is a plus in my book when I read
The numerous plotlines interconnected - each unique but still dependent on the events of the other for completion
The storyline does jump back and forth introducing the characters prior to the scenes - this may have been what threw me off
Overall - I was definitely left wanting more
I have not read the previous books by this author but it has been brought to my attention that this is a spin-off from a previous series - which I will now have to grab
I read a complimentary copy

Carla's Four Star Review

Son of Saint is the first book in the Sons series, and it is Deacon's story.

We were first introduced to Deacon in Raw, and I have wanted to read his story ever since. Deacon, along with his buddy Sal, was raised in a world filled with gangs, clubs, and mobsters. He is a complicated man with many layers. His story is raw and real and will certainly keep you glued to your kindle from beginning to end!

Gah, I just fell head over heels for Deacon. That man is just too hot to handle! And his friendship with Sal? Well, that just sealed the deal for me! I will warn you that his story is not one filled with fluff. Heck, there are points in his story that will break your heart, but, I promise it is all worth it! Grab some tissues and buckle up buttercup because you are in for one wild ride!

When you read any book from Kailee, be prepared to have your mind blown. She has such a complicated intermingled group of characters. You can't learn about one without it leading to another. I think the way Kaci set things in motion shows you the mind set of this author. I loved Deacon, he's a bit of an enigma in this world. The result of an affair between two MC the father known as saint sure isn't , and the monster step dad from hell should leave this man an evil sob. While he can be somewhat evil in his actions when needed he's also a sweet, loyal, quiet and shy at times. I enjoyed the bromance if you will, between Sal and Deacon. I would not object to being the filling in that alpha sandwich. These two are so different, yet so much the same. I look forward to reading more about Deacon Cruz! "Walk your own path"

Kailee Reece Samuels does it again with another great read. "Son of Saint" is fast from start to finish. This is the story of one man trying to survive his heritage, his circumstances and sometimes his family. Deacon Cruz is a loving son, a caring and loving friend and a man trying to find his way in a world he doesn't always understand, or want to be a part of. He learns more about his sexual needs and learns to take people as he finds them and not on how society dictates he should perceive them. He falls in love, feels great loss and learns the hard way how much pain his friend Sal is feeling. This is a book you need to read and I can only say you are going to want to.
Well done Kailee, waiting for the next instalment.

How explicit 2.5 / 5
Story 4 / 5
Overall: 4 / 5

Son of Saint is not your typical MC/Mafia romance. This story is more of a giant puzzle, and I was determined to piece the story together. The book can be read as a standalone, but I very highly suggest you read the other books in the series. I was a bit lost, wanting desperately to understand each of the characters backstories.

Son of Saint shows the growth of Deacon Cruz, the son of two rival MCs. I was fascinated to learn about Deacon and especially loved when Deacon was with Sal and Dom. The story is told in clips and told from multiple POV. I really wanted to love Son of Saint, but I was busy trying to figure things out to truly able to enjoy it.

Deacon is such a good guy, it was great to finally get the story of his early days. He’s the real deal, sexy hot and loyal to the core. He’s also had his wild days, and his horrible excuses for parents didn’t help at all. We find out how he and Sal meet and build up a tight friendship that survives the test of time. We meet other characters along the way that we’re familiar with too. This is a beautiful look at a man who has given his all for those he loves. Though there’s definitely sex in this book, it’s more focused on Deacon and his character. There are so many amazing aspects to this story – if you are a little confused, by the end you will know all about this swoon worthy man! Ride on the roller coaster with us!

KRS has this splendid way of dragging you into her vast, complicated, intriguing world of characters. She entices you to trust, and get on this ride, but once you are on you can't get off. It's okay though because every word she breathes and every tale she weaves brings you closer to something wonderful. She doesn't Disappoint in Son of Saint. This story takes you on a journey of trust and love, betrayal, loyalty, HOT as heck men. *seriously snap me out of reality and put me in a big ole Sal, Deacon samich and I'd be a blissfully happy woman* KRS never fails to make me glad I am an avid reader. She hit the ball out of the park with Deacon' story.

Son Of Saint Growing up on the Delirium M/C Compound Deacon and his friends knew the In's and Out's of the Club life. The death of a friend can change you. Deacons mother was a stable part of his life and claimed he was always a perceptive child and knew who was not good.Deacon was the result of an affair between his mother and Victor "Saint" Cruz. Freedom from jail and a request to get outta town has him trying to find his way and discover who he really is.He is torn between two M/C's and trying to see were loyalties lay within the people in his life. I love that Sal from her other series is one of Deacons frineds. You really get a deeper look into the man Deacon is and becomes.
