A dark enemies-to-lovers mafia romance

Loyalty is the deadliest sin

Everything has been one elaborate lie.
My name.
My identity.
My entire existence.
Crafted by one man and revealed by another.
Brody Harcourt exposed me as a fraud, turning me from a queen into a pariah.
Now there will be hell to pay.
But I'm back for more than revenge. More than blood.
My eye is on the prize.
The Carrera throne.
I'll win the kingpin's trust at any cost, even if it means crossing enemy lines with Houston's political pin-up boy. Brody's chiseled chest and cocky smirk won't distract me.
But things don't always go as planned.
Sometimes a queen has to steal her crown.
And the one man she should never want...
...is the only one she does.

Cora Kenborn is a USA Today Bestselling and Top 50 Amazon Bestselling author whose readers have affectionately dubbed her the “queen of plot twists that’ll ruin your day in the best way.”

Best known for her dark mafia romances, Cora has an insatiable bad boy obsession, which she believes started in the third grade when she chose Bruce over Todd in the Sweet Valley High books. To this day, give her an unhinged antihero who falls hard for a feisty heroine, and you’ve won her heart.

As a native North Carolinian, Cora claims the domestic Southern Belle gene skipped right over her. Her villain origin story was the day she tried making her mother’s famous biscuits and gravy, only to turn them into paste-covered dough bricks. That’s when she decided fiction was better than reality, and microwaved mac and cheese counted as fine dining.

description Anyone that knows me knows that I have been struggling lately with a major reading slump. In fact, I haven't picked up a book in two weeks. However, I have been waiting for this book like a kid waiting for Santa, I love Cora's writing. I love this series, and frankly, as readers and reviewers we need to support author's like Miz Kenborn that are both talented AND know how to act professional. This industry is imploding because too many readers are settling for mediocrity and allowing author's to get away with shady and unprofessional behavior.

OK...off my soapbox and onto the review... 😂

I could gush forever about this book. I legit loved every minute of it. Fantastic writing. Well paced. Engaging plot. Smokin' sex scenes. No OW or OM drama. Some super hilarious one liners. Excellent banter between Brody and Adriana. There weren't too many secondary characters, but we get to see the couple's from previous books a little. However, there was one that stole the show for me. I won't name names, but COME TO MAMA!! 😂 Both Adrianna and Brody were fantastic main characters. I already mentioned the banter between these two, but the sexual chemistry melted my tablet (I am sending you a bill Miz Cora 😚). I loved that Adrianna was a strong lead, feisty, but without coming across like a psycho. Which honestly is a fine line to skate. Last, it was all wrapped up in a good happy for now.

So ya I loved it! I recommend it (anything  by this author). And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Talk about saving the best for last!!!

Now I loved Val and lusted for Mateo but Brody set my soul, and other things 😉, ablaze.

Ever wonder what happens when a tornado and a volcano collide? Well you get Drawn Blue Lines. I mean I was left awestruck and utterly speechless reading these two. Former ADA, and current Mexican Cartel lieutenant, Brody Harcourt is sexy, deadly, and way more than meets the eye. Former rival Cartel queen Adrianna Carrera is a smart and sassy femme fatale clawing her way back from rock bottom. Val and Eden were smoking hot, Mateo and Leighton were a five alarm blaze, but Brody and Adrianna are a volcano eruption.

Cora Kenborn has broken the mold and set a new standard for what Mafia Romance is. Drawn Blue Lines is mucho caliente to the 100th degree. What a great way to end an explosive series. Five stars aren't even enough. This is definitely one of my top 5 reads of the year. #2019Top5MustRead

Brody and Adriana give new meaning to the phrase "they deserve each other." I love a heroine who isn't "strong" or "sassy" but will straight up cut you. Adriana is a cartel princess and she is not about to put up with Brody's All-American smarm. Yep, I said it. He's smarmy.

Two people who'd gladly kill each other have to work together instead. Chaos ensues; they can't keep their hands off each other (or themselves, as the case may be); and mafia stuff goes down. There are some sexy laughs (and gasps), but also ruthless bad guys, kidnapping, mayhem, and murder. And at least one of them isn't showing all their cards...

Have you ever been so engaged with a story that you FEEL everything that the characters feel?
THAT is exactly what happens when I open up a story from Cora Kenborn, She pulls you into all the turmoil and angst and keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end... And what a bittersweet end to the Carrera Cartel Series, but I have a feeling it's not the last we see of Val, Matteo, Brody and Adriana.
Adriana and Brody have a toxic relationship to say the least but what they both don't realize is that love happens when you least expect it to with the person you least expect it with.
The plot twists and turn had my head spinning trying to figure out who did what and who knows what and WHO IS WHOM...…… I think this has to be my favorite Carrera book because it ends where it all began and EVERYTHING came full circle and things ended up the way things were meant to be.
ABSOLUTLEY LOVED this series and I am sad to see it end but as I stated before I have a feeling we will be seeing more of the Carrera family in the future.... I CAN hope ;-)
Cora Kenborn to you and your brilliant writing!!!

This book literally kept me up at night reading! So stoked to have finally gotten my hands on the final Carrera Cartel book in the series of standalones. Having caught glimpses of the characters, Adriana aka Marisol and Brody, in previous books I already knew these two were stubbornly set in their ways which made me all the more excited to finally see exactly how many fires they’d be setting ablaze. 😏

Drawn Blue Lines did not let me down! There were so many intriguing revelations and crazy explosive plot twists that it had me thinking just one more chapter... then I’ll think about sleep. But holy moly it’s the tension between the counselor and his princess that kept me fanning myself and thinking “‘¡Ay, Dios mío!’ These two are sizzling together and just need to give in to what they both need!”

I definitely don’t want to give away any plot line details because this book needs to be read going in blind. The build up of everything coming together is what will have you thinking you know but trust me you have no idea! I totally recommend this suspenseful read to all romance readers and believe me when I say it’s caliente (hot) 😉

The Queen of dark romance has outdone herself! Adriana and Brody's masterfully written journey is filled with plenty of darkness and grit, condescending yet teasing banter and sinfully arousing heat. Literally. Sinfully arousing and delectable deliciousness. Did you get that? These two will make your Kindles combust into flames!
The suspense and shocking twists will indeed catch the readers off guard. Readers won't be able to help themselves as they become entangled into the web woven by these two. They'll grab hold of you and drag you down into the depths of their Mafia Underworld.
This entire series, starting with book one, Blurred Red Lines, followed by book two, Faded Gray Lines and ending with this impressive and explosive conclusion, Drawn Blue Lines, are all truly epic works of art and shows just what makes this author the Queen of all things dark mafia and enemies to lovers genres of romance.

Adriana Carrera aka Marisol Muñez’s life is one big complication. Raised by a monster she thought she was the daughter of the former slain cartel King. She wants to seek vengeance for her real family... for the lies, decent and betrayal that was bestowed upon her. Brody Harcourt is the way to get that revenge...a pawn so to speak. Brody is a former DA and now the second lieutenant of the Carrera Cartel. Revenge, blackmail, deception & lies, is what you get in this romantic mafia suspense. Adriana and Brody are twisted yet the perfect mix of hate/love. Their push and pull together can spark a fire. This is the third book in the series but can be read as a stand-alone, however I feel it would be helpful to read the first two books in order to understand some of the other characters/backstory. Get ready to enter the carrera cartel world. Told in dual POV

Brody and Adrianna are EXPLOSIVE!

Holy Crap! You need to have your fan on high while reading this book. Drawn Blue lines is the final book in the Carrera Cartel Trilogy and holy hell, Kenborn saved the best for last! If you are looking for a story of two characters who are just completely broken, this is the book for you. This is part of a trilogy but you can read it as a standalone (though just read all of them, trust me, they are fantastic!).

Adrianna is lost. Everything that she thought she knew is a lie, and she is going after the one who made everything crumble around her, Brody Harcourt. I'm not gonna lie, I have a hard core crush on Adrianna. She is EVERYTHING that I love about a heroine. She is strong and not afraid to go after what she wants, she makes no excuses for who she is and man, when she loves, she loves DEEP. The growth of her character throughout this entire book is amazing. She is ready to take what she is owed and what has been stolen from her, and she isn't afraid to play dirty.

Now... Brody... OHH Boy... I didn't know that he had all that bad boy alpha in him from the previous books! Brody is broken, he feels that he has let all the women in his life down and he doesn't know how to redeem himself, or if he even wants too. Adrianna comes strutting back into his life, and he just can't resist her, but he is going to play by his own rules. Brody is SMOKING hot. I LOVED his character as well. To watch him go from just basically giving up and making stupid choices, to finding who he is again with Adrianna, and learning to live again was amazing and I loved every step of it!

Brody and Adrianna together are a fierce couple. I love how they were made for each other, and how together, they were able to pull themselves through all the crap in their pasts and move on together (with lots of hot scenes as well)

I am sad to see this series come to a close, however, I think I caught some teasing by the author on a possible new series??? I can't wait to get my hands on that! The plot was great, moved forward well, and makes it hard to put the book down. The writing is fantastic (though, with Cora Kenborn, I know it will be), Character development is fantastic. While reading, I can feel their pain and the struggles that they went through in order to come out on top. I HIGHLY recommend Drawn Blue Lines as well as the series (and really ANY book by Cora Kenborn.

I have been waiting for this book to come out for awhile. Now I have read the first two in these series and will state that Drawn Blue Lines is a stand alone book. I do suggest that you read the other two books later on as they too are outstanding. Now back to Drawn Blue Lines. Cora Kenborn has baffled me yet again. Her style of writing just gets better and better.
I devoured this phenomenal book the day it landed in my kindle. I had to stop and think about how to tell all of you about this book. This is one of those books that will stay with you for many days after you are finished reading. It grabs you by the heart and just won't let go. Cora Kenborn is magical as she is able to get the reader's attention with the opening sentence, run the gauntlet of emotions, before stunning us so completely that we struggle for words when the last page is turned. Adriana and Brody are dynamic characters. Their journey is filled with; lies, secrets, discovery, darkness and hot steamy times. Down this road they must learn to trust and overcome what life throws at them. I am not going to give any details of this book away, because I want everyone to go in blind and get the full impact of the story. I will say that this book is incredibly well written, has amazing character development, a fully developed storyline. A perfect ending for an epic series.

4 stars Good!

OK, not gonna lie, the first book in this series was fantastic but this was a close second. I really liked it a lot but just didn't love it whole heartedly if that makes sense.

Adrianna and Brody were smoking hot together, I guess I would like to have gotten more "together" time with them...the ending felt rushed and would liked to have seen "more".

All in all a good series!

Loved this book! It’s an absolute page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. Full of secrets, lies, betrayal, deceit, family, love, enemies, loss, heartbreak, and so much more. Marisol/Adrianna's life was a lie, a soul shattering one. Stolen and raised by the enemy now twenty four years later she is in a position where she has to make the begged decision of her life, fight for her self or risk her life for the only two remaining blood relatives. Adrianna’s journey isn’t all rainbows and roses but along the way she finds family, I’ve and her true self.

Highly recommended!

MY FAVORITE IN THIS SERIES 😮‍💨

“Facing death was easier than facing a life without the woman you loved.”

brody … HELLO ?!!? i literally didn’t think he would get a book but BOY AM I SO HAPPY AND FULFILLED 😍 this man is so damn fine and the way he fucks … GOOD LORD 😩🫠 i love him your honor. the way i kept falling for him throughout this whole series 😭 he just made me love this series that much more with this book. i related to adriana so much 🥹 she’s deserves the whole world and all the love. she’s on a revenge / justice path and the way she constantly battles with herself and those around her makes my heart ache. she has such a tough wall up surrounding her. she never kisses anyone. but when she’s with brody all those carefully placed walls comes crumbling down.

struggled through this one

The hero:
EXCERPT: “Stripped of weapons, strength, dignity, and identity...”

in book 1, he's the OM to the heroine (very briefly, not meaningfully, & mostly from his side)
so from the get go, in my eyes he's already at a disadvantage, especially as even in other scenarios he isn't portrayed as a strong man

I searched for a more apt word than "downtrodden" and found this sentence in thesaurus.com , which sums him up to a T: "He was badly dressed, and bore a sad, depressed, downtrodden aspect" add angry, bitter and somewhat slimy-ish
ugh...I hate that for him cos he loves his family so much and has been hurt and betrayed by them
plus, he's just gorgeous, is our H and has so much potential

I really feel I need to finish this one, not only to see him get his HEA but to see if the mcs of the previous books grow at all, because they don't develop much on-page in those books

I'd probably let it go but I want him to be valued and admired
I mean, I'm not asking for an alpha cos that's not gonna happen here but it seems like he's gonna be dealing with a chaotic anti-heroine so I reckon he needs to be equipped to handle her

UPDATE:
he does grow a pair - what a relief and welcome development
she settles down but doesn't lose herself - still feisty

Narrated by Stacy Gonzalez & Alan Carlson.

🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧

I was not as impressed with this story as I was the other 2. After everything that had happened I was quite excited to get Adrianna's story and I totally wanted Brody to get his HEA. But this one just kind of fell flat for me. And in all fairness it could have been the narration. I felt that Stacy's inflection was way to intense and nonstop angry, which maybe that was how the character was interpreted, but it was a bit over the top for me. And Alan's female voice was almost like nails on a chalkboard to me. This was a slow burn, which would have been fine had I felt some of that sexual tension (again, that may have been due to narration). But I have to say I was super impressed with the Epilogue! The proposal was the cutest! And how it ended up bringing in the other family members and showed how far they had come in forgiving each other for all the things that had happened through out the series was beautiful!

Wow, just wow!

I’m not sure how I stumbled across Cora Kenborn, but all I do know is that I saw a mafia book called blurred red lines and knowing my love for mafia I had to read it. By the time I did, faded grey lines was also on sale so, straight after I devoured Val’s book, I engorged on Mateo’s. My love never wavered from Val though.
Even since that first book I wanted to know more about Brody, I couldn’t wait for this one to release. This book saw him come more into himself. The kind of clean cut man in the suit, flirting with good and bad, not sure which side he wanted to be on, until the 2nd book. This third book though, completely blew the other two out of the water.
If you like back and forth, sarcasm, insults flying and banter between two main characters that are fighting for dominance, then Brody and Adriana are your guys.

I loved every word of this book, the twists, the turns, everything that makes a good mafia read. Oh and there’s some hot af scenes. The steam billows from the pages.

One of my favourite quotes -
She’d spent her life fighting. I’d spent my whole life giving.
For once, she wanted to surrender. For once, I wanted to take.

‘Every man had a story, and every story had a villain.’

Adriana Carreras is sassy, hard faced, and totally badass, I love her. Brody Harcourt, well... he’s hot, I wanted to peel that stuffy suit from his body but most of all I wanted to see him happy. There’s a lot to get through first but I spent the last chapter and epilogue smiling like a loon. I never finished reading until 2:20 am but it was worth every minute of sleep I lost.

If you haven’t read this series then what are you waiting for, believe me you won’t be disappointed. Cora Kenborn, definitely has a way with words and believe me you’ll wish you picked her work up sooner.

If you’re looking for a series that you want to lose yourself then grab this believe you’ll want to meet these cartel guys.

If I could rate it higher I would, but 5 stars from me.

LOVED this story HARD!! I want more of Adriana and Brody! The chemistry and magnetism of both these characters was over the top smokin’!! The banter between the two of them is parallel and entertaining, I honestly couldn’t get enough!

~𝐈𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝, 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲. Brody was not of cartel blood, he was the gringo that had been appointed lieutenant to a cartel king, Valentin Carrera. Brody doesn’t really fit the mold, but he has a darkness that brims just under the surface, trying to balance on that fine line.

Adriana, born under one cartel organization and raised under another, oblivious to her true identity until recently, has a vendetta against the eye-catching Counsellor Brody Harcourt.

Both are damaged and drowning in sins and rivalry, they navigate around the truth, lies, threats and vulnerabilities seeking some sort of salvation and hoping to come out the other side.

Cora Kenborn has certainly brought a befitting conclusion to this trilogy, and I couldn’t be more content with Brody and Adriana’s story. As I said in my first review for 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒅 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔, “~𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝒷𝑜𝑜𝓀 𝒾𝓈 𝒶𝓃 𝑒𝓍𝒸𝑒𝓅𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝒶𝓁 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝒻𝒾𝓇𝓈𝓉 𝒸𝓁𝒶𝓈𝓈 𝓇𝑒𝒶𝒹 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝒾𝓈 𝑔𝓇𝒶𝓉𝒾𝒻𝓎𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓌𝑜𝓇𝓉𝒽𝓎 𝑜𝒻 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓇𝑒𝒶𝒹𝑒𝓇’𝓈 𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝑒𝓂𝑜𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃𝓈 ~”, and the same rings true for 𝑫𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒏 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒆 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔. If you’re looking for a story that is richly crafted with detail and loaded with tension and suspense that will take you to a bursting point, then you need to read and get acquainted with the boys in The Carrera Cartel. Just be prepared to read late into the night, you won’t want to put this story down.

I'm not even sure where to start with how epic this book is. My mind is blown! I wish you could give a book more than five stars, because this story deserves so much more. While I know you can read this as a standalone, I recommend reading Blurred Red Lines and Faded Gray Lines first in order to truly understand Brody's character. I have been waiting for a story all his own, and this author knocked it out of the park! Brody is a complex character, who knows right from wrong, but is loyal to a fault when it comes to his boss, Valentin Carrera and the Carrera family. When Adriana comes into the picture, Brody is unsure how to handle her. There is no doubt, he lusts after her, but everything he knows about her makes him hesitant. And Adriana is definitely a woman you don't mess with. She is a mysterious, strong character who comes across as completely tough, but as you read, you do sense there is a softness to her as well. Can Brody bring that side out of her? Will she let him get close to her knowing all that he does about her? There is no doubt in my mind that these two belong together, not to mention their chemistry is chart topping! This story has many twists and turns and it is a wild ride that you'll never want to get off! I am in awe of this authors writing skills, she has a way of making you fall in love with her characters, even the ones you don't want to! I am a lover of Mafia style stories and this series just proves why! Brody and Adriana's story is a phenomenal read and I truly believe everyone needs to read their story. They will embed themselves into your very heart and soul.

After reading Drawn Blue Lines, I REALLY wish I had read the first three books in the series first. It is not necessary, but I felt it would have made this book even better for me, though it was SO FREAKING GOOD.

These characters are straight up dangerous and PERFECT for each other. In their world people lie, cheat, steal, kill all day so they have to have a leg up, but what happens when you actually start to care about the person that ruined you? What happens when you start to have a heart? Gahh, this book legit makes me shiver with how good it was. I HIGHLY recommend that you read this right away.

I want to say so much more about the book, but honestly if you like Mafia reads that are full of danger, lust, hate, and some major chemistry- you HAVE to check out this book 5 outta 5 stars from me!!

PS Thank you to Cora Kenborn and Enticing Journey Book Promotions for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

Drawn Blue Lines by Cora Kenborn is a dark mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Stacy Gonzalez and Alan Carlson.

This is the third book in the Carrera Cartel Trilogy and each book can be read as standalone. However, for maximum enjoyment, it's recommended that you read them in order.

I absolutely love Cora's books! I was hooked from the very beginning and I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Adriana and Brody. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

Stacy and Alan did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend his book to anyone who loves mafia/cartel romances, dark romances, enemies-to-lovers romances, or romantic suspense.

Adrianna was absolutely fierce and fearsome. I really wouldn't've wanted to mess with her. I'm pretty sure that there's no way that I wouldn't end up with my rear end handed to me. She is very savvy, very smart, incredibly strong, and fierce. I do think, though, that there is also a terrible fragility about her, and a very deep hurt to her. That drives her decisions sometimes, and I think that it makes her make some bad ones.

Brody is smart, but I think not quite as smart or savvy as Adrianna. I think that he's also wallowing quite a bit in his past and he would rather drink it away than try to handle it. I think that he really needed to have Adrianna come into his life and smack him around and make his life better.

I'm going to have to read the other books for a better appreciation of the series.

A very enjoyable read.
We have two characters who hate each other but are forced to work along side, one is a cartel princess and the other a former DA and now second lieutenant of the Carrera Cartel.
Their interactions are raw and cutting when they meet up, they would gladly kill each other to clear the planet of their existence but unfortunately for them they have work to do and they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. The mafia shenanigans are on high so lookout for murder, kidnapping and general mayhem, anything could happen in this intense thriller.
A very exciting story. It was a riveting read, full of intrigues and suspense, and watch out for the unpredictable twists. A great read!

Drawn Blue Lines is book three of the Carrera Cartel series and unlike most series can be read standalone. Having read Blurred Red Lines and Faded Gray Lines I was excited to see what Drawn Blue Lines would give us. Cora Kenborn out did herself with this one. (Please excuse me while I shove Mateo aside and make claims to Brody.)

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, chewing my lip and praying my racing heart didn't give out on me. This book needs a warning sign to ensure that no one disturbs you while reading, after all the Carrera cartel is at our disposal.

Brody and Ariana's story is one that the tension burns so hot. Their explosive together, everything we'd ever want out of a couple.

I highly recommend reading this series!

Holy cow. Where do I begin? I've been waiting for Brody's story and Ms. Kenborn did NOT disappoint. Brody has been a favorite character of mine since Blurred Red Lines. He's so well written that I didnt want the book to end. The series as a whole have been phenomenal. You have dark, dirt, twist and turns. Something you wont see coming until the very end.

Adriana and her past will break your heart. The things she endured when her "family" betrays her made me want to throat punch them all.
So well written, I couldn't put it down. I'd give this book more than 5 stars if I could. If you want a well written Mafia series, read these!!
