TELL ME I’M WRONG is a mystery thriller novel by the successful independent published author Adam Croft.

What if you discovered your husband was a serial killer?

Megan Miller is an ordinary woman with a young family — until a shocking discovery shatters her perfect world.

When two young boys are brutally murdered in their tight-knit village community, Megan slowly begins to realize the signs all point to the lovable local primary school teacher — her husband, Chris.

“We all got secrets. We’ve all got things we’d rather our family and friends didn’t know…because we want to protect them. Protect them from harm. Protect them from the truth.”

But when Megan digs deeper into her husband's secret life, she makes discoveries that will make her question everything she knows. She finds a kid’s baseball cap in the garbage bin, with number 82 on the front…in blue and white, but stained in blood! Megan must now come to terms with everything, and her gut feeling is that somehow Chris is responsible. A young boy murdered. A boy who’d been taught by Chris. She now fears for both her life and her and young daughter's life.

Megan is starting to believe her husband could be a child killer. Now there is no turning back, and not everything is what it seems…

A very enjoyable read with an ending I didn’t see coming.

Many thanks for my copy.

If a book's cover tells me I’m going to have to answer the question . . .

“What if you discovered your husband was a serial killer?”

I expect to discover that my husband is a serial killer. I WANT to discover that my husband is a serial killer. I mean, doesn’t every red-blooded American woman?????

What I don’t expect is . . . .

That is so poorly executed you can tell instantly what is the false flag . . . . .

There is nothing more satisfying than picking up a book that misleads the reader, one that constantly has you questioning each characters narrative, and Tell Me I’m Wrong by Adam Croft does exactly that! With an array of psychological thrillers on the market and one of my most read genres I find it difficult to find a book that stands out from the crowd. For me a psychological thriller has to mess with my head, keep me gripped and most importantly hit me with that “OMG I never saw that coming” moment and yes this book managed to do just that!

Like most psychological thriller Tell Me I’m wrong could not be considered to be fast paced, but like any really good psychological thriller the author builds on the suspense and mystery the whole time leading the “reader down the rabbit hole” into the world of Megan and Chris, where nothing is as it seems. On the surface Megan and Chris seem to be a “perfectly normal couple”, when two young boys are brutally murdered in their tight-knit village community, Megan slowly begins to realise the signs all point to the lovable local primary school teacher, her husband, Chris.

Fuelled by lies and mistrust the story is told in alternating chapters from the POV of Megan and Chris. As I got to the 60% I can honestly say I had no idea where this book was heading, yes I had numerous theories but I found myself so caught up in where the author was leading me I really couldn’t turn the pages of my kindle fast enough. The sense of foreboding radiates from the pages of this well told tale, at times I find myself holding my breath as the tension and mistrust between Megan and Chris grew.

Adam Croft certainly surprised me with a couple of those “OMG I never saw that coming” moments, so I applaud the author for being so devious. Well written, this is a book that I will definitely be recommending to anyone who loves a gripping psychological thriller with some very devious plot twists. Tell Me I’m Wrong is the first book I’ve read by Adam Croft but it certainly won’t be my last!

Domestic thrillers always excite me and the premise that the husband was a serial killer intrigued me. However, I did not like the writing style at all. It was flat and lacked any depth. The characters were not fleshed out and it dragged the whole time. Thank goodness the book wasn’t very long because I was very bored and would have DNF it.

What would you do if you found out your husband was a serial killer?

Megan Miller is a new mom buckling under the stress of having a new baby. She and her husband have drifted so far apart they are more like roommates than husband and wife.

Two young boys are murdered and Megan begins to see unexpected changes in her husband. He’s cold, demeaning, and then she finds the black garbage bags.

Told in alternating POV with Megan and her husband you get glimpses into both their side of the story.

Tell Me I’m Wrong is available now.

Wow this is one roller-coaster ride of a book that will have you turning page after page through twists and turns that keep the adrenaline pumping right to the very end.

Megan is a new mother struggling to bond with her daughter after many years of childlessness. She built herself up to having a son and ended up with a daughter knowing there would be no more. She is suffering from post-natal depression and her husband keeps taking himself off fishing leaving her with a screaming child. Despite support from parents on both sides she still isn't coping and Chris doesn’t understand.

Chris, the husband, is a typical man who runs away from situations he doesn’t understand or can't cope with. When children he taught are murdered he disappears deep within himself which brings Megan to suspect there is something more going on.

The story is told from the perspective of Chris and Megan and that makes it unusual but it really is a brilliant read that is very well written. There are so many different threads to this story and they all tie together brilliantly as the reader is given an insight into post-natal depression and how the mind can play tricks on you.

It all comes together in a mind blowing ending that you won't see coming. This is an unputdownable read that will appeal to anyone who likes crime fiction. Well worth the 5 stars.

Tell Me I’m Wrong is a sinister, psychological domestic noir mystery filled with secrets.

"Everyone knows everyone. Everyone relies on everyone. It’s a finely balanced ecosystem which can be brought crashing down with relative ease. And this might just do it"

After a gripping first scene-setting chapter, the story is mostly first-person narrated alternately by wife and husband Megan and Chris, dealing with being new parents and the impact of baby Evie on their marriage. Megan is preoccupied with a fractious baby and Chris is, well, distant to say the least. Chris’s chapters reveal someone pretty cold and unappealing with plenty of issues, but is he capable of what Megan suspects and, if not, what is he hiding?

Tell Me I’m Wrong is a mysterious and well-written easy read. The story gets going very quickly – there is no messing about – and I was totally immersed in the story, particularly sympathising with Megan. I enjoyed her chapters more than Chris’s, just because he came across (deliberately) as such a cold fish. The story moves forward at a steady pace but really ramps up the tension in the final third. I was pleased that I did not see the ending coming nor the extra little twist at the very end.

I am very grateful to the author, Adam Croft, for the copy of Tell Me I’m Wrong and would definitely read more from him in the future.

I am amazed at the high ratings for this book and kind of suspicious.

The characterization is just not there. It is very thin, more like a book idea or outline.

When I can read a book in two days it s a sign that it is definitely a five star book. I carried it with me, reading in the car, reading in the store, in the house (between housework, cooking) and of course, before I went to sleep.

And so the story of Meghan who believes her husband is a serial killer starts. She has a young daughter and when two young boys are killed, she starts to fear her own husband...The signs point to him....what does she do next? Her decision, whatever it is, will affect her family - the rest of her life. And so we are tossed back and forth....only to find out that maybe what we want to know is not necessarily what we believe we know.

Great story with a big twist....

Simple writing. Boring. Repetitive. Not suspenseful. The “twist” at the end was expected, no surprise.

Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about this story. First, I absolutely hated the ending. I understand it but I didn't like it. I also had a difficult time with the characters. I really wanted to like them, to feel invested in them, but that didn't happen either. Truth be told, I had to force myself to finish it. While there was nothing wrong with the plot, it wasn't one to really grab you and draw you in. Just mediocre to me.

"Tell Me I'm Wrong" is yet another superb psychological Thriller by the self published author, Adam Croft.
The book is written in short, yet filled to the brim with informational chapters.
Red herrings are splattered throughout the book so I was unaware of the culprit until the very last few chapters.
An excellent book which I would have loved to have read in one go - unfortunately life gets in the way! A 5 star gem 💎 of a book which I highly recommend.

Was ok. Read it in an afternoon. Was quite predictable and I didn’t feel that the author was detailed enough. Didn’t feel as if the characters were developed.

This author popped up with a sponsored ad on Facebook and his presence and books looked promising, so I was happy to find this one at my library. Evidently Croft is doing quite well in the self-publishing world. After reading this, I'm not sure why. The writing is trite and simplistic to the point of having some of the shortest sentences I've ever seen, the red herrings and plot twists are basic and easy to figure out, and chapter after chapter is redundant. Megs' chapters all say the same things, how she "knows" her husband is a killer, and Chris' all say the same things, how he "knows" his "secret" is going to destroy families. It's obvious from the get-to his secret is not that he's killing people, and Megs is so unlikable and dim you can't cheer for her, or even care about her. The ending is fantastic, and I mean that in the unbelievable definition, not that it was great. That being said, it's cool that Croft has found his niche and his audience, and I'd say if you're a super overwhelmed new mom, or a busy college student, who just misses recreational reading, then this quick thriller might just fit the bill.

Tell Me I'm Wrong is actually the first book that I have read by Adam Croft and it certainly wont be my last it has left me thinking about what I have been missing out on that's for sure.

With two young boys brutally murdered all the signs of the murderer point to her husband who is a primary school teacher.

The author weaves a story with alternating chapters told from Megan and her husbands POV with each chapter leaving you wanting more. This is one of those stories that slowly builds up the tension and will really get you thinking about both of the characters.

I love the fact that the author has kept it simple with only a hand full of characters, so you really get a feel for them and what they are thinking.

This is a very cleverly written story that will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat and just when I thought I had it all worked out the story takes a turn that I wasn't expecting! Don't you just love it when a story does that.

This is a must read for psychological thriller fans which I highly recommend giving it 4.5 stars.

Being a mum, I have over the years, spent restless nights with all of the ‘what if’ scenarios going through my mind. Weighing up all the risks of just letting my children venture outside but what if the danger to other people’s children was in bed next to me. Bloody hell! Now that is a terrifying thought.
Megan had struggled to get pregnant, the birth had been horrendous and even now she was still struggling to bond with her 6 month old daughter. She knew her husband had longed for a son and she knew that wouldn’t ever happen, not with her anyway. He was either at work, as a teacher or fishing, which he did now more than ever.
When two young lads from the small village they lived in were found brutally murdered Chris’s behaviour changed. He had taught both boys when they were younger but there was more to it than that, she knew there was. When she found physical evidence at their home, she couldn’t deny it any more. Chris was the killer!
Whoa, by this time I was having kittens! Adam Croft put me right inside both Megan’s mind and Chris’s. I didn’t just know what they were thinking I also knew how each of them were feeling, not only about themselves but also about each other. The chapters bounced back and forth between them, with each of them having their say retelling the past and present day as events unfolded.
This is one of those stories that you have to remember to breath, because you really aren’t in your body, you are there in the book every step of the way. The murder of children can’t be an easy thing to write and although the crimes are described it isn’t done a macabre twisted way, it is in a very sad and sort of helpless way. The story never really diverts to other people much. Not the families of the boys or the investigation side of things, except when it directly involves Megan and Chris.
There are quite a few heart in your mouth moments too, where I was left irrationally giving advice to characters that were not taking a blind bit of notice of me. This is a brilliant read that I felt so very involved in. Highly recommended!

Riley loves football. He wants to play for Crystal Palace as he likes their kit. One day after playing with his friends he is taking the path back home, being careful to stay away from the water as his Mum has always told him to, when everything goes black. Meanwhile, Megan is trying to bond with her baby Evie. Chris her husband likes fishing and whilst doing so decides that he should do more to help.He has a secret but thinks that no-one knows. Chapters are written voiced by the different characters mostly in the first person, which made me take to them quickly and easily. The chapters are short and punchy which keeps the flow. There is of course a twist or two, one of which I didn’t see coming and then…. I won’t give anything away other than to say an excellent ending which for me is very important as so many are left on a cliff with no real answers. A very well written engaging tale. This is my first book by Adam and it won’t be my last,

*Spoiler Alert*
I had difficulty relating to and empathizing with any of the characters. Unfortunately the author did such a great job convincing me that Chris murdered the two boys that when the actual murderer was revealed I was just no longer curious. I feel as though the first person points of view prevented adequate character development. I don't know what any of the characters looked like, but they were all just unpleasant. Megan's chapters were mostly whiny. Chris's chapters became redundant because he repeatedly talked about how he feels guilty about "it" and knows "it" would ruin his life if he tells anyone. When his affair with Megan's sister Lauren is exposed he looks as much a scum bag as if he did kill the children because Lauren was portrayed as insensitive and inconsiderate, especially toward Megan that it made Chris look equally thoughtless. It's not as though Lauren and Chris fell in love and had an affair, they were just selfish. Which leads me to the ending. It was interesting that Megan survived the suicide but I was curious as to what she felt about it.

The best thing I can say about this book is that it's a fast read. But there's too much repeating of the same events, the same words, by both main characters. And there's some flashbacks to years prior that I don't see the relevance, particularly the scene in another country from years ago. Maybe I just read it too fast and missed the connection.

There's a twist at the end of course, but not enough for me to bump this up to 3 stars.

This was a quick read filled with tension and suspense. I figured out the one twist right before it was exposed. That is the sign of a good story, the timing and pace was correct.

Well done, perfect length, not drawn out too long. Some repetition in points in the story but I think it was necessary.

I would read more from this author.
