This book held my interest in the beginning. However, it needs editing. There were several places that the wrong words were located in a sentence. Also, the chapters need to be more defined and rearranged. I was part of the way through the book when it went directly to the last chapter. Then after it said I was at the end of the book the missing chapters were there.
If you've read the first book in the Nanny Shifter Service, there is no need to read the others, because they follow the same exact outline, with many of the same scenarios as the first book, only with a new type of shifter and new character names. The stories are flawed with the incorrect word choices used, or words missing in the sentences which lead to issues with the flow of the storyline. This story, along with the others in the series, needs a good editor to help the stories stand out.
A little repetitious of the first book also final chapters are reversed or added incorrectly so chapter 11 should have been the Final Chapter and gave away the nice ending before the big events happened kind of disappointed about that should have been caught in editing otherwise okay Style
I really hate to write something negative about a book because I can imagine just the time, energy, and thought went into the work. However, this book and the bonus stories, was very disappointing. The first story just kept droning on and on and could have been half the story that the writer made it. The subsequent stories just didn't do it for me either. The other thing is the editing was absolutely horrible! I found myself more involved in the editing process then and reading the storyline. There were misspelled words, wrong names, conceptual mistakes and I'm not talking just a few of them I'm talking riddled throughout the book. I hope this can be found as constructive and not destructive. But the characters were weak and the storylines the same.
I will start out by saying that I enjoyed the first book in this series, and I would have liked this one if it was not basically the same as the first. The ways and the number of ways in which they are alike are ridiculous. If that wasn't bad enough, the editing wasn't very good and....the last two chapters were reversed! So, I ended up reading the ending before part of the middle! I am very upset. I'm not sure how that happened, but there is no excuse for a book to be published that way. These things need to be checked.
First it's the same exact story as the first book, just a different city, names, and bears instead of wolves. There were so many times Sky seemed to forget what she was writing and used the wrong names or pronouns or described things that didn't fit with what was going on or say the character doesn't swear then have her cuss like a sailor the very next page. That being said, the story was cute, the bonus material was actually my favorite part. Great little stories of complicated characters coming together. Just needs an editor.
I really wanted to love this book. It was so similar to the other two in the series. I read them out of order. But what bothered me the most was that there were quite a few errors, that needed correcting in the worse ways...some were just typos, easily corrected. The worst was that it went from chapter 10 to 13. Has to go back when I noticed the book made no sence to chapter 11 and 12. I really liked the idea of a shifter nanny series, and the stories could be great.
The Author seriously needs a proofreader, halfway through the book I am suddenly on the last chapter and I was like WHAT??? what happened ... then I went to the next page and I'm at Chapter 12 ... there were a lot of misspelled and misplaced words. Since I was forced to read the last chapter in the book before I got to read the rest of the story. I know how it ends. Which irritates me.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Hannah is leaving NY and heading to San Francisco to start a new life. Luckily she has an Aunt she can stay with while job searching. Hannah reaches SF to find out her Aunt is going away the next morning but she is told to feel at home.
Hannah sees an ad for a Nanny. She loves kids and always hoped to have her own but....
She applies for the job and is called in. She meets with Alexander, the client. He tells her what he requires...someone to care for his 6 year old Gracie and sometimes be his arm candy for work functions. The biggest is the fact that she must sign a non-disclosure form and cannot discuss any aspect of her job with Alex and Gracie. She is hired and moves in that night.
Hannah soon learns one of Alex's other secrets....he is a bear shifter. He is exposed when they are walking home from a function and they are approached by 3 men...who suddenly turn into bears! That evening their work relationship waves on the personal side, with neither of them having any regrets.
Life is settling nicely. Hannah and Grace are bonding well.
Alex and his team, the Elders, are up against another, the Red Fangs for a lucrative contract. It is decided each team will do trial operation but Alex's team has been sabotaged. In the meantime, Hannah and Grace are kidnaped....
Will Alex survive? Will Alex save his girls?
I really liked this story. The description of Alex almost had me drooling, LOL. While it did have some editing errors it wasn't anything major except for when the chapters at the end weren't ordered correctly. I also felt like there was a problem finding a comparable word when a word of thought was used repeatedly. It seemed to interfere the flow of the writing for me.
What I did like...OK, besides Alex, Hannah who had always been curvy was about pounds curvier with the stress of her divorce. She was very self-conscience 0f it. I love Alex's positivity of her body...he appreciated all of it! I loved the relationship between Hannah and Grace. The writing was very realistic, as in Grace being wary when she meets Hannah. The author let the relationship develop naturally.
Great story. If you want to get into a book that will draw you into a world as a human you've never been apart of not quite sure what's going on then this is the book for you.
Changes have come to Alexander's life and he is learning to deal with them the most important person in his life is his started great and he will do anything to protect her and give her the best he possibly can this is where Hannah enter the story.
Now Hannah is a different ball of wax she's had a lot of upheaval in her life and now she is starting all over when she takes this job caring for a little girl. Little did she know this job is going to change her world.
There's a lot to appreciate about the story and I'm not going to go into it in this review let's just say I don't believe you'll be disappointed you may even be intrigued and you won't be able to wait to find out what happens.
The first book in this series wasn’t bad, wasn’t great, but wasn’t bad. This one on the other hand...
Let’s just say the editing it TERRIBLE. It instead of in. He insisted or her. Wrong name used on a major character. But the glaring mistake that finally made me quit?
*Spoiler alert*
Chapter 9 - Hannah finds out she pregnant after les than 2 months together
Chapter 10 - op is a set-up that ends in a shoot out and Alexander vowing to figure out who did it
Chapter 11 - sex scene in which you figure out they have been together for almost a year (ie 9-10 months after chapter 10), Marcus is dead via the “Elders,” and Alexander’s proposals and HEA
Chapter 12 - rewind 10 months and Hannah is pacing the apartment trying to figure out how to tell Alexander she is pregnant!
Can we say oops! Talk about a copy and paste error! *smacks head repeatedly*
I can forgive a lot when the story is good enough but I’m sorry, that is just unacceptable.
This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Daddy Bear by Sky Winters is the second book in the Nanny Shifter Service series and my first Sky Winters read. Despite the fact that the later chapters were scrambled and I inadvertently read the ending before the lead in, I really enjoyed this book. Hannah and Alexander had great chemistry and there was a lot of heat in the story. (So Mature Audience Only Please) This fast paced, action packed, spicy quick read kept me from putting it down. Here is a really entertaining feel-good story that will have you craving more. The book is also loaded with bonus content. I highly recommend this as a weekend, coffee in hand treat! (Check the table of contents for the correct chapter order before starting!)
Sky Winters has written another excellent book in the Nanny Shifter series. The book pulls you in and holds you there till the last word has been read! The story involves Alexander Price (bear shifter) head of a top mercenary group who needs a nanny for his daughter Gracie and Hannah who has just been through a horrendous divorce and is broke and homeless. Although neither Hannah nor Alexander are looking for romance, there is an instant attraction upon meeting. “Daddy Bear” is wonderfully written with intense action, suspense, drama, passion and romance. This book is well worth reading.
Daddy Bear, The second book in the Nanny Shifter Service series by Sky Winters is filled with action and a steamy romance between a Nanny and her Boss. Hannah is on her way from New York to San Francisco to start a new life after her divorce to her college sweetheart that's left her with nothing but a suitcase of clothes and a run down car. She applies for work as nanny and is hired by mercenary Alexander to take care of his daughter. After Alexander's wife's betrayal and divorce he has no interest in woman, but he finds himself attracted to the curvy Nanny. I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book
Aside from the editing issues—there’s a whole chapter out of order—I have some issues with this book. There is some serious repetition from the first book. Like the ‘revelation/reaction’ scenes are basically the same..right down to the dialogue. I’m not a fan of weak females who do nothing except raise babies and shop, needing their big strong men with giant cocks to rescue them. Not my cut of tea. I did love the curvy girl aspect, however. The sex scenes were a little better in this book with raunchier dirty talk, but they aren’t good enough to suffer through the rest of it to read the next book.
A short read. We have Hanna who just got out of a divorce and unable to have children.. She goes to her Aunts home in California to recoup. She files a few applications for a job. She gets a response right away for a nanny position. Since she loves children she excepts the job. Alex is a bear shifter who is a mercenary. She finds out that he wants more than just a nanny, but also being his date to functions. What will she do when she finds out he's a bear? Will Alex be able to protect her from his competitor?
I liked the story line but didn’t even bother finishing the book because it wasn’t proof read and the ending chapter of the story that told u of how everything had happened and the baby was born and they were a happy family etc was placed in the chapter of the book before the big event of the book happened that told u how the events unfolded as they did. After reading that chapter and then realizing that it went back to the plot where it was supposed to have left off I just closed the book altogether. Disappointed that it was spoiled.
I really liked this book. Just as much as the first one in this series so I hope you give that one a try also. Both Hannah and Alexander has bad luck in their first relationships and are just trying to move on. He is trying to keep his company going and she was hired to take care of his little girl. There are some twist and hot sex along the way that kept me interested the whole book thru! I honestly reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
There were a few spelling errors. The name of one of the characters changed completely halfway through the story, that threw me off a little. One thing I disliked though was chapters 11 &12 where backwards. After chapter 10 ends, chapter 11 jumps to pretty much a year later telling the end of the story. But then chapter 12 starts right where chapter 10 leaves off and that's the last chapter of the book.
This is Alexander and Hannah's story . Hannah comes across an ad for a nanny and she is in dire need to find work after her divorce . But now she is in trouble ! War is happening between clans and she is caught in the middle ! This is the second book in the series and it will keep you reading !! Well written and recommended !
Hannah and Alexander are great characters. Their feelings for each other grow stronger, the more they are together. Some action-packed scenes amongst the romance, makes this a delightful story to add to the Nanny Shifter series. I enjoyed the book immensely. Well done Sky. I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This was a book that kept you interested the entire time. There were quite a few grammatical errors, mainly typos & a few misspelled words, but not bad enough to make you want to stop reading. Also chapter 11 is actually the final chapter, so I would skip that then come back to it.
Alexander is a bear...a big well to do bear with a security business and a little girl. Hannah was a divorced woman that needed a new start...also wanted answers to the dreams she's been having. She gets hired as the nanny and is happy because she can't have children. See the road she travels along with the Bear family.
Even though I like this book. I got kinda confused while reading it my version seems to have the chapters out of order. The baby suddenly appeared and then I was throw back to when Hannah tells Alexander she was having a baby made for a confusing read. Overall just a ok read
This is the second book in the series. The first one I liked, this one not so much. The story was ok but it really needed a proofreader. Missing words, misspelled words, even chapters out of place. I read the ending before the rest of the story. Really confused me. Was so glad I didn't buy this book, I got it from KU. Not sure if I will continue to read this author or not.
First let me say that I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, but it in no way influenced my feedback. I always leave an honest review.
OK, this is the second book in this series, and I have to say I liked it better than the first. And that's hard cause book 1 was gr8. I do recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
Well there are actually 4 different stories in this one book. The Daddy Bear story over all is pretty good but it is riddled with spelling errors and the end is misplaced in the middle of the book. Editing needs to be a lot better. The other stories are okay. Happy reading.
Enjoyable if simplistic read. Liked the characters but the plot was a bit fast paced and felt rushed, especially at the end. Also the last chapter was out of place Chapter 13 is after chapter 10 then 11,12, so I read the ending before we were actually there. Spoilt the story. Few proofing errors too. The baddie Marcus was just a bit laughable.
I enjoyed reading this book, but then all of a sudden it got confusing! Sky Winters, Chapter 11 came out of nowhere. You may want to go back over that! Also, I found a lot of errors, too many to mention! I enjoyed the story line so much that I still have it 4 stars! I think the storyline was good and I think others will enjoy it.
So far, this is my favorite non-harem story in this series. Hannah deserves some happiness and a man that accepts her without expectations. I like that Alex is older and more "experienced", that Hannah is curvy and I also like the fated concept. Little Grace is sweet and feisty. Story lays out the challenges of being a bear shifter and how to handle adversaries.
