This book surprised me in a lot of ways, all good. First off the two main characters, hunters Shaun and Lucas, are human, although Lucas does have a sixth sense. The third character in the triangle, Nic, isn’t human but I'm not going to give the game away as to what he is. Secondly, I’m fussy when it comes to threesomes. I like emotion, particularly love, to play a big part. There is love here, albeit repressed, but it isn’t shared openly by all three men. Having said that I loved it, it worked. Shaun, Lucas and Nic are all complex characters whose multiple layers and intriguing backgrounds really drive the story forward. As a result the plot is tight and fast paced and kept me on my toes from start to finish. The premise of hunters who go after shape shifters is a lot different to normal shifter storylines, making the book more than a little intriguing. This book is the first in a series but the story stands alone well. The plot is tied up neatly but the relationship between the characters has still to be fully resolved so this is a HFN which leaves enough for me to really want to read book two. Note I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
