A textbook on
- becoming a perfectionist,
- living one's life for the sake of other people solely and only them,
- being rigid in one's thinking (proudly calling that 'a structured management approach' or something along the bullcrap line),
- taking oneself too seriously,
- feeling righteous,
- having non-stop meetings/discussions/calls/etc.,
- blabbering all kinds of motivation and hygiene stories (2-factor, 3 needs, goal setting, reinforcement and other theories of all kinds of shapes and forms).

Interesting read, if one wants to have some droll and pointless subjects to talk about. I'm adding an extra star for this and for the material being well-structured. And I do like to pull people's legs with all this fun-tastically pointless stuff.

For its target audience, it's a pretty good book. It's primarily aimed at providing an overview of management principles and related topics. It's an attractive book with lots of diagrams (with some of them being overly complex) and what are good explanations and details about the topics addressed. It should be noted that this book focuses on the techniques and processes, rather than actual practice or the ethics of said practices. It also could use a bit more proofreading as there are bad typos and a few formatting issues, as well as issues with different uses of definitions. Overall, an adequate introduction book geared for learners.

A great book for everyone not only for managers

-To get where you want to be, do something you are afraid to do , get out of your comfort zone.
-Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
-we are creatures of habit..every day when you go school or work, probably go the same way.
-Always treat people how you want to be treated.
-Stress is not always bad.
- Things are never as good or as bad as they seem.
-Listening is an active search for meaning , whereas hearing is passive.
-Look to hire people who bring to the table a different set of strengths or skills that will complement your own .
-It's not about you …the life it is about others.

This is the very first management book that I have read in full, and it was in its middle east edition. I have read it once, but sure will return later to specific chapter or topics. To my mind, it is not peculiar that some experts on the subject consider it a basic book, not only in the academic sense but on the practical side too. It is a well-written book, appealing to read and study. It actually discusses the way of management and all that surrounds it, in corporate business mainly overlooking other type of private businesses and specific sectors which should have merited a general description. I benefited a lot from reading the book.

i'm not sure if it's due to my class set up or what but i was jumping all over the book. it's also super technical and then redundant in places. also way too damn wordy where 2 sentence would work they go into a 2 page explanation on irrelevant!

I was hoping this would provide guidance in management techniques, but it was more of an overview of general managment pronciples. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised since it was the textbook for my Principles of Management class, but most of the info provided seemed to me to be common sense. Not necesarily a bad book, but not exactly useful either.

Obviously I was required to read this book, it served it's purpose, my favorite chapter was "Introduction to Controlling." Very helpful, very helpful indeed! The flowcharts are outstanding in instructing the proper behavior to obtain control over people, I might have one tattooed on my arm in case I forget.

Buen libro, bien explicado con conceptos relevantes de la administración. Los ejemplos son abordados dentro de empresas que hoy en día siguen vigentes. Ciertas perspectivas de los autores en la edición 13 se puede tomar con pinzas con respecto a la realidad actual (del lenguaje usado por el líder a sus trabajadores) , seguramente en las siguientes ediciones se modifiquen.

Ok, let's be honest. I would have never read this had it not been required for school. It's a textbook. It reads slightly better than some textbooks I've read, but it's still a textbook. Has some good insight into management, and some cool case studies.

McGill, AGEC 242 - Management. Worst course ever! is it me or management is a study that translate simple words into difficult and confusing terminology. Nothing is really new, everything is just common sense.

I read the Canadian version for a class I took at BCIT "Principles of Business Management". It was pretty interesting for a text book containing lots of examples from Canadian Businesses.

تحية للأساتذة ديما جمالي و يوسف صيداني على شغلهم الرائع هنا، كان ينقصها الترجمة فقط و يكونون سووا خدمة عظيمة للعالم العربي.

في وقت المحنة الحالي و ضغط الإختبارات جميل جداً تقرأ كتاب مرتب و مفيد. و الأجمل لما تكون كل أمثلته و تطبيقاته من العالم العربي، طفشت و أنا اقرأ عن وول مارت و جي إي و كل هالشركات الي ما عمري واجهتها في حياتي الخاصة.
الكتاب مقدمة ممتازة لعلم الإدارة. مثل ما قلت الأستاذين في الأعلى بذلوا مجهود ضخم في ضرب أمثلة عربية و إضافة جزئيات تتعلق بنظرة العرب و المسلمين للإدارة. و في كل فصل يجرون مقابلة مع مدير عربي يأخذون فيها رأيه عن مواضيع إدارية معينة. قراءة رائعة جداً.
