Dear God: Hear My Prayer

Rate this book
Since the age of 14, Jayme’s life has been hell and she has one person to thank for it, Pastor James Madison. He stood in the pulpit on Sundays waving the same hands that abused her at night. He glorified God with the same mouth he used to chip away her self-esteem, daily. He was a man of God who had turned her away from the same God he told people they needed to serve. He was the man who was supposed to pray for, take care of and eventually love her. Instead he preyed on, took advantage of and shattered her heart before it had a chance to truly love someone else. Now, 14 years and a son later, she finds herself needing God yet she doesn’t know how to reach Him. She longs for God but isn’t sure He can hear a sinner’s prayer until she starts to say, Dear God ...

Very good

At the very beginning this story pulls you in and captures your emotions. Fear, shame, pain, and not forgiving self makes the struggle hard. I'm happy that Jayme had found forgiveness within herself, I love the strength of lil Jace. 5 stars to a powerful message of opening those doors to letting GOD do what one cant.

If you decide to read this book, have a box of Kleenex nearby because you're going to need it.
No human being should go through what Jayme, Jackson, and those other innocent kids went through at the hands of James. He abused the cloth and his ties to the community for his own sick and selfish reasons.
Jayme went through hell and back before she finally let go and let GOD. With a God fearing man like Jacob right beside her, she will get through it.
Abusing his power as a preacher got James just what he deserved. It's so sad the those innocent children will have to live their lives because of James' poisonous venom.

This is a story about sexual abuse

This story had me captivated from the beginning to the end. So please have your tissue ready. This story shows you a viscous cycle of a generational curse. This curse can make you give up on god. As people we wonder why would God allow us to take so much punishment or be hurt beyond our control.
This is a book about questioning God. We know it’s not right to question him but have you ever caught yourself saying why me.
Do we really believe that God give his toughest battles to his strongest warriors. What Dont break you make you stronger.
Well the main character in this book fought hard to believe these quotes. Especially since the person who was abusing her was a man of God and a pillar to the community.
She didn’t have much support and she had to live with the daily reminder everyday. I knew she was compassionate by the way she loved her child.
She closed the doors to mostly everyone including God. Her barriers was so tight air couldn’t sleep through. How can you really trust when your own mother couldn’t protect you from monsters, maybe she didn’t want to because she wasn’t protected. Like what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
The God we serve is a mighty God and when he breaks through he shows out! This didn’t happen overnight but when it did. You tell yourself won’t he do it!!!! God is good and his word never changes....
If your going through something read this book and watch some burdens be removed. God can work through this read also.

This was a good book. The main character and her brother were molested and raped by their stepfather. The daughter gets pregnant and now has a son who's calling his dad grandpa. The stepfather is a well known and respected pastor of the community who has aids and gives it to his wife who is dying. Read the book to find out his fate.

The only reason I'm giving this book 4/5 stars is because of the typos and grammatical errors. There weren't that many & you knew what the author meant but I just feel like someone could've proofread this first. The story was really good. Unfortunately there are a lot of bad, evil people doing things in the name of the Lord that push people away from God, Christianity & the church. This was the 2nd book I've read by this author and I really do enjoy her books. You don't even realize that her books fall under the "Christian fiction" category because they really are everyday life occurrences, which is rather unfortunate.

Stay prayed up

Lakisha Johnson girl you did your thing!!! This was my first time reading a book by her, but definitely won't be my last. As a matter of fact I'm about to order another one after this review.
There is power in prayer it changes things. When I say someone is a prayer warrior!!!!!HUNNY... THAT NO GOOD step dad got exactly what was coming to him and the mom. All it takes someone's it's the faith of a mustard seed or someone with strong faith to help you through.someone who will not give up on you in your time of need.

Great

Great quick read. I enjoyed the storyline but most of all the wonderful way God used this story to teach a lesson. Having just heard a sermon on the story of Gomer I find it no coincidence God is up to something.

"Dear God: Hear My Prayer" by Lakisha Johnson

My Opinion:

'Dear God: Hear My Prayer' was quite a sad read for one to read, even though it was a good read. For Jayme, Jackson, and the other children who went through this abuse because of James's molestation ways. And oh yes, he was a minister and had a church to be a man of God and a pillar to the community. I found this story one that could have one questioning God. Now, why was that...as we see Jayme saying so many times...why me?
I still don't know what to think of Jayme's mother, Josephine, who seem to let this go on and did nothing. And as I was feeling so sorry for Jayme, her son.. leaving one to say now who his father was? It was good for Jacob to meet Jayme and show interest in her and her son Jace. Jayme, definitely went through more than enough before she finally started seeking God in her life. To understand this whole story, you will have to pick up this good read to see how this author brings it all out for Jayme, Jace, and Jacob. Will Jayme be able to turn her life around. Well, it seems like something will happen that will bring it all out so well for her and Jace. Again, to find out, you will have to pick up "Dear God: Hear My Prayer," and He did!

“Some people are born evil and they seek to devour and destroy those who believe in God. Some of them are even people who do work in God’s name.”

Meet Pastor James Madison who uses his highly respected position to prey, betray, mislead, and destroy. Just when Jayme thought life couldn’t possibly get any worse than the reoccurring nightmare she’s endured since her early teens, James is hell-bent on reminding her that HE is her gatekeeper.

Layered with heartbreaking abuse, hope, scripture, and shocking plot twists…This story is not for the weak at heart. Nonetheless, underneath the brutal storyline, there are some relatable instances and powerful testimonies.

This is my first time reading this author’s work. While the writing flowed smoothly, the editing oversights were a bit distracting to the read. However, Dear God: Hear My Prayer is a captivating story that will surely stick with you. I look forward to reading more from this author.

God Does Hear Our Prayers

This was a very good read by this author. The storyline of incest, sexual abuse, emotional pain is something that goes on from generation to the next generations. This is a subject that is tabor to talk about and for families to stop it. Especially the mothers all in the insanity of holding on to a man no matter how low Dow and disgusting he is.
I am so glad the author showed that no matter what happens God is always there waiting on you to turn to him. He will send someone into your life to guide you back to God and his Word. Even thought we turn away from God and blame him for the bad things that has happen to you, he is still there and has not forsaken you.
I recommend this book to read and also it makes a good book club discussion. Your attention will be held from the beginning to the end.

The reviews lied

Highly upset. I quit 40 minutes in. No character building no plot nothing just a bunch of misspelled words in sentences. Grrrr. I hate when my time is wasted. By the reviews you would think this book is beyond great but honestly whoever wrote it is a beginner and needs someone to be truthful and tell them that. Smh. It has the potential to be great but it needs a lot of work. For example the main character is raped by her step dad who is also a pastor and tells a man she just met. Then explains her whole past. That's the whole book. The author stating personality traits and situations instead of letting it show through character building and detailed situations. Annoyed.

Well written

This book touched my heart! It brought out pain and hurt that's going on in the real world. It's sad how there are those in the church that hurt so many. This book showed how we must depend on God to get us through our worse. Love can succeed even during the it all, just call on God. Jayme went through a lot with her mother but her mother saw fit to try and write a wrong when she died. I really enjoyed this book and the flow of it. I would have liked to have known more about the bits but that's the suspense. I love Lakisaha Johnson writings. Great book I recommend this book to read and use as discussion.

Jayme is a single mother that lives life constantly looking over her shoulder, because of the abuse that she suffered at the hands of a trusted member of the community. This controlling narcissist continues to eat his ugly head, until life …and karma, catches up with him!

This book may trigger some people, but I encourage you to keep going. This was also the case with Jayme. Once she gave her traumatic situation to God, her prayers began to chase her down, one by one. Every book by @kishajohnson is blesses my soul, but this one took my breath away. The themes of healing, salvation and freedom were visible and necessary.

I might have been late to the party, but I'm here to stay!

Inspirational story !

A story of finding faith in God even though you are going through tragedy and pain. Learning to trust in God's word, such is the story of one young woman who faced abuse and pain from the ones who were meant to protect her. Lakisha Johnson created a incredibly powerful story about discovering that even in difficult circumstances God is always with us.Characters that are amazing ,and compelling story packed with inspirational moments that will touch your heart. This dramatically portrayal of faith and trust was a truly appreciated read.

Read it all in one sitting

One star is missing beause of grammatical errors, sadly that distracted me from the reading of this book. Content wise this so was sad, but so hopeful and relieved in the end. I love the mother wit from characters who helped Jayme along the way...almost thought this was based on real events... All in all, a good read and the spiritual lessons, scriptural references and prayers made this book come alive with hope for the weary. God bless You, Min. LaKisha Johnson.

The Glory comes after the Gloom

Jayme is an innocent victim at the hands of her demonized step-father and the deaf ear of her “entitled” mother. Her freedom that helped to transform from a victim to a victor was able as she began to speak her truth, forgive herself, and allow God back into her life. Through the journey of sexual abuse, violence, intimidation she was still able to blossom into a tower of strength not just for her but for other victims as well. This book will not disappoint you!!!!

I felt this book on so many levels

A book hasn’t made me shed tears in a long time, but this one here brought it out of me. Lately I keep coming across so many people telling there story, almost makes me want to tell mines. A story I said I would never share. I feel this same way she felt in this book. This book can definitely encourage people to tell their own story one day, to not be afraid of what others may say, feel, or think. I would recommend this book to anyone who feels like god doesn’t hear them.

Powerful

A powerful testament to God's grace and mercy. A tearful journey of an abused woman. An amazing acknowledgement that God always surrounds us with Christians that will stand in the gap on our behalf. Proof that prayers are heard, frees and heals us. Vengeance is the Lord's and victory goes to Jesus Christ. I hope this book is healing and motivating to anyone trapped in bondage.

I read this book at a time in my life where what was read l needed to hear. I can relate to her feeling of thinking no one understands her feeling of being alone with no support. The one thing I've yet to find is that man that says don't worry babe it's going to be alright.

No matter how many times you say go I'm going to be right here. That persons probably there I just haven't taken the Do Not Enter sign down to see he exist.

Forgiveness starts with you

This is a good book.It really hit hard on abuse. There are so many that get abuse. They harbor it for years. This girl was abused by her stepfather. She also conceived a child by him.Her mother knew about the abuse but she kept letting it happen. When this abuse was over. This young lady was unable to forgive so she could heal. This book would be a great book for anyone who has been abused.

Another helpful story!

Author Lakisha, I should think about adding another title to your list of professions. The story was hard to read in the beginning, the first 19%. The subjects that u write are very heavy. U have a way to make better ones that have the problem or know someone with a problem. When U get started praying, counseling, quoting scripture, always takes me to the throne of God. I always feel like I have heard a good sermon.

A must-read this book is 🔥

Thank you for sharing this this story with the world. There are so many people who have experienced some type of abuse, and they really need to read this to see that God has never left their side. He was right there. Thank God for all the praying people she came in contact with who helped her. I pray that God continues to protect and cover her and her son. I feel bad for her mother and brother. But her step daddy got just what he deserved.

Wow

This book is an awesome story/testimony that spoke to me on so many levels. It is a story of abuse, circumstances, tribulations, consequences, forgiveness and love. Forgiveness of self which is so empowering. It also speaks on no matter what position you hold you are human and are capable of bad things. I pray for a love like that to find me. Jacob was a Godly lifesaver.
