We all love stories don’t we, especially true ones. For over 30 years Alex Askaroff has been carefully collecting and sharing priceless tales from his corner of England with his avid readers all over the globe. At last his long awaited next volume is finally here. In his eleventh published book he shows us once again that he is the master of the short story.

We meet Little Sid, who earned his first medal cycling through The Blitz, even before he was old enough to go to war. We meet crazy farmers and mad dogs, great inventors and a host of wonderfully eccentric characters, from corrupt politicians, spies and naked gardeners to the Hastings schoolboy who fooled the world to become the most famous First Nation Indian alive.

Alex Askaroff’s way with words, his funny and thought provoking stories, and the wonderful Sussex characters he meets on his travels will leave you with a smile and a happy heart.

Once again in Glory Days Alex has brought his unique magic to the page and captures England, its history and its people as only he can.

Just finished reading my signed copy of of 'Glory Days' as usual books by Alex Askaroff are so interesting the funny stories he has collected while working in Sussex. Thank you for the memories of visiting those villages driving down the tiny lanes. I remember many happy evenings with Nigel & his blackboard with those delicious meals. Looking forward to your next book maybe 'Hot Coffee & Cold Tea'

I love the book. !! Alex has described his customers in their environment, being comfortable and trusting of Alex. Mostly! There is always the person who does not know Alex well and distrust comes in the form of putting on "aires". I belong to a monthly book club and we will be discussing "Glory Days" in June. The book is not just about sewing machines, even though I enjoy his antidotes about his machines as he makes his house calls. Many times a repair is made due to operator error. I also own 4 antique sewing machines aging in the range of 1893- 1938. Hence, that is how I discovered Alex Askaroff.
