Three soldiers decide they've had enough and decide to strike out on their own. They go to west Tennessee in search of Brandon Crawford's aunt and uncle. They soon descend into a world of marauding in order to survive. Jump forward to eight years later, Zach Gunderson and his family have made a home at Mount Weather. Everything seems to be working and the President's dream of reestablishing the USA is progressing, but then, disaster strikes. After being vaccinated, two survivor groups in Ohio become infected, unleashing an apparent new strain of the zombie virus. Through Zach's investigation, he finds a traitor in their midst who is trying to sabotage the rebirth of America by any means necessary.

About the author

After being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the United States Army, David Achord found his true calling in law enforcement. His twenty-five year career included stints with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. A lifelong Tennessee native, he is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Cumberland University.

I’m invested now.

This book wasn’t like the previous ones that I’ve read. Was really slow and but the ending has me really intrigued and ready for the next book. Plus I’m 6 books in so I can’t just stop the series, lol.

So hooked!

This one starts different from the rest. Instead of starting with Zack, we start with True. At first I was annoyed, missing "my characters", but as always the author tells the story with such ease you are quickly captivated.

I really liked how time went by. With shows like Walking Dead or books like Zombie Fallout, I have lost my patience for PvP with humans and no one really going into the how, why, when, where and what now?!

David takes us into this wonderful zombie world he has created. He gives us heart and as I have said in all my other reviews, he makes it feel like you are reading about people you actually know. He thinks of small details that grip your mind into making your own theories as to how this happen and how it will end.

The only bad thing about this book was it was not on audio when I read it. I like switching between listening and reading. There were a bit of errors on the kindle version, mainly repeating passages.

One thing I kept wondering was how old were Zack's kids, they are six and seven. It doesn't come up until almost the end of the book.

I was waiting for more of an explanation on Peggy and how she "talked". We do hear about her again but all it did was leave me wanting more.
I happen to know David is looking to add two more books, so I am eagerly waiting!

I really loved the pregnancy twist. It reminded me of Twilight movie and The Originals. Especially when Fred tells Zack who all is expecting.

A great departure from the heavily Zach oriented previous installments. Actually, I’m not a fan of Zach; He is cocky and full of everything annoying in this world besides the fact that he is portrayed as Know-it-all leader which was off putting. The series has great supporting characters who annoyingly can’t shine in the presence of Zach and here why this book was different. As Zach is overworked or shall I say overwhelmed with Bureaucracy, other characters are given the space/papers to shine like True for example. Fred is a favorite but he has been too passive for this installment which could be a reflection of the character unhappiness with MountWeather structured arrangement but What can he do? He lost everyone dear to him and his hometown is not inhabited by those dearest to him. Justin and his wife have been sidelined which is typical of the author. Sometimes, I think of the gay couple and Tanya who were left behind in Tennessee; Considering that establishing contacts with survivors and communities has been a priority for MountWeather, there hasn’t been a single update about Tennessee’s residents?
Interestingly, I thought that this would be the last book of the series until the last short chapter! A new piece of information that surely rocked the boat !

Amazing wonderful Book

This was book six in a series by David Achord. Filled with love hate mystery and Zombies. If you are in fact a reader of such you don't want to pass these books by.Follow the years of Zack and Fred and many others. I couldn't wait to read each following book thus I spend many nights going to sleep after 3 am. My only negative thing I can say is Why Why David Why did you end the series at 6 books? I felt there was so much more to tell us. You could have followed the team's as they went out west, what about the Russians? The elections? The long process of rebuilding America? Please give us more on this great and well written series.

Slightly better than some pf the books in the series, but not by much. Still good for a rainy night in, or in audiobook form when you are out walking. Like every other book in the series, an editor is needed- or else the author needs to keep track of his characters. There were times when the main character was out with a group talking to someone and bam, mid conversation, the person he was talking to would change and be someone else. The ending was a surprise, and you can tell the author is setting up another book or two.

"Fever!" was just as good as "Mount Weather." I enjoyed it more because I already knew who the people were.

I enjoy post-apocalyptic because the focus of existence is less. Zach writes about civilization-building and problems that come with prosperity, mainly greed.

Deuteronomy 15 talks about how every seven years, the Jews were supposed to cancel all debts, among other things, because "there will always be poor people."

Maintaining a healthy civilization is about balance.

I loved "Fever!" and hope to read more of the series soon.

Zach is Back

I love this series because of the main character Zach. His zombie rules helped many survive. Now after being safe, a new zombie virus, sabotage, and other threats keep Zach busy. His character continues to grow, he is becoming the leader t hast will be needed in this harse world. Great series, read and enjoy!

Not worth the price of the ticket

This was the most Nothing book David Achord has written in this series. My recommendation is to just put your money ba c in your pocket and save it for something worth while. I'm not gonna say it was something it's not. This book was a total waste of time and money. I have read the other 5 novels and they were great,, not this one.

What??

First zombie book series ever to highlight a pregnant zombie, zombies that communicate through grunts and telepathy, living body functions, can be taught basic tricks like that of training a dog, zombies that feels terror, zombies that can talk, etc., etc.
Holy smokies, this is by far one of the best zombie series I've read, and want to know where this is going!!!

Well, book six was a lot of recap of the previous stories. Attempts at delayed gratification by telling a tad of the story then revisiting it dozens of chapters later was major theme. These books are akin to trashy romance novels!

Another good book in the series. Again, this was another informative read some good surprises some mystery solved. It’s good to see Zach rise in the community and in politics very smart kid, but I do hope the next book is a little bit more dramatic because I think it will be my last.

So far, so good. Some more evolution from the living dead that could be promising in the next book, we'll see.

This book gets us back on track in the series. There were some good twists and turns, including some semblance of an origin story. There were several chapters narrated by someone other than Zach, which I believe is the first time in this series that we saw through someone else's eyes. Also, there was a significant amount of back story retelling, including physical descriptions and histories of characters that we have known for several books. I'm not sure of the intent behind this, but maybe some readers are just now reading the series, starting with this book.

The editing (of the Kindle version) is better than some books in the Zombie Rules series but still leaves much to be desired. Commas and semicolons are everywhere, most often where they should not be. There is also some confusion between the use of semicolons and colons.

The story is still going strong, and I am looking forward to continuing with this series until the bitter end.

Very good book

I enjoyed reading this book. Great writing and the characters are mostly the ones you would hope to be with in the apocalypse.
