Amit Malhotra, 35, is a highflying investment banker who loves his gut and all things gourmet. Amit is living the proverbial good life, which includes a loving family, a successful career and a luxurious life – albeit with a paunch.
When a pretty twentysomething calls him ‘uncle’ by mistake, the young corporate honcho is forced to evaluate his lifestyle. As if that weren’t enough, Amit has to face the harsh realities of his fastpaced life when he loses a close friend and colleague to a fatal heart attack in the middle of a conference.
After this shock to his system, the gymhating, foodbinging couch potato realizes that he will have to change his ways before a heart attack claims him too. But will he be able to accomplish this steep climb?
Change Me captures in detail a common man’s inspiring journey towards holistic fitness with the help of a life coach. Join Amit as he discovers his true being – his mind, body and spirit – and marches towards a healthy, fulfilling future.
Jasmin Waldmann is a renowned life coach and fitness expert. She is the inventor of Pilardio®, a concept that combines Pilates and Cardio, and the developer of JaWa Diet.
Our first impression of the book was "Self Help" and we are very-very selective about the book in the self-help genre. When I started seeing reviews on my timeline, I went to Goodreads page and checked the blurb. From there I came to know that my first impression was somewhat wrong. The book is written as fiction with hidden layers of self-help.
The story revolves around Amit who is successful in his personal and professional life, so are his friends at age of 35. But things became nightmarish when few of his closed one became a victim of lifestyle and succumbed to a heart ailment. On top of that, Amit's ego was hurt when a young girl called him uncle. When he did self-assessment he realized that while chasing materialistic goal he became addict to lifestyle-related issues. This realization fueled him to improve his health physically and mentally.
Jasmin has done a good job of converting a serious topic of wellbeing self-help into a fiction work. Very few self-help writers understand that there is a need of flow in the book which connects difficult islands of heavy topics/theorems with help of bridge called story. So I would give a clap for her efforts. The language was easy and the flow was straight.
Now coming to hidden part (i.e. self-help) I would like to complain, Jasmin, when you write a book especially self-help, it should have a certain amount of information that can be useful to the reader. I know your Pilardio method of exercise and JaWa diet plan are copyright / patented, if you don't give proper information and just used names & one-liner it will look like marketing brochures and that can affect the overall reading experience.
The book starts with a very relatable prologue by author. This book is written in a very clever way. Instead of making it a self-help book, the author took us through Amit’s journey of improving his life.
This was also very easy and quick to read. It doesn’t get dull at all. There is a lot of much-needed advice in it. You just have to reflect as you read.
I really loved reading this book. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Change Me by International Life Coach Jasmine WaldMan is a story of a 'well settled, 35 something, Amit Malhotra who is facing his mid-life crises. Review copy by Jaico Publishing House (India) . Honestly, when I first started the book, I felt like this is yet another self-help book that touches similar subjects. However, this book is not at all preachy which is the best part. Amit 's story becomes interesting the moment a twenty-something calls him 'uncle'. . Just like Amit, even I binge on ice when I am frustrated or confused. Like the author said, you will discover a lot of things in the journey. The language is easy and narrative is free-floating. The book serves valuable information about fitness and diet. It narrates the power of taking up charge over our life and taking care of our body. How little steps can transform our body, mind and life!
Change Me is a health book written by the international life coach Jasmin Waldmann to provide a lay out of ideal life to adopt by the readers for a healthy lifestyle and to enable them to transform their mind and body.
But the book has not been properly written and reads more like a marketing gimmick. It doesn't provide the detail procedure of Pilardio, a concept invented by the author which combines Pilates and Cardio nor it gives the menu and recipes under the JaWa Diet, another concept developed by the author.
I think there are better health book available in the market written in a better way.

Change me by Jasmin Waldmaan is an eye opener and an inspirational book. Author has used a fictional character to convey which is very hard yet important thing. Amit realises the importance of health and fitness in daily life by an incident that occurs in his office, after which he decides to meet a life coach or trainer who explains the harsh realities of lack of fitness and ignoring health at cost of wealth of laziness. The book brings out various interesting aspects of life and health and deep insights about them, I can personally relate to it, as we in genral ignore health and only consult doctors when we get seriously sick and sometime it can be वे too late that's what the author tries to convey through the whole story. The idea of creating a healthier impact through a fictional story and true facts is just amazing along with a smooth narration and strong language. Though I don't agree to certain mentioned things but still it is an eye opener to all those who say "chalta hai". The book stresses a lot more on a support to live a healthy life but you have to be warrior of your own life with bravery and understanding. It is a book that should be read so that atleast you create a realisation of importance of what you are missing is the most important thing i.e "Health".
CHANGE ME by International Life coach Jasmin Waldmann is a self-help book in the health /wellness category. She is the inventor of Pilardio, a concept that combines pilates and cardio, (It is well discussed in the page 96 of the book. It works on ten important principles) and the developer of JaWa Diet. Though a non –fiction the book unfolds in the form of a story with almost thirty characters, which helps the readers to be more attentive and breaks boredom. The book has 240 pages with ten chapters. Even the titles of the chapters are so exact almost conveying the message themselves. The special attraction comes in the form of ‘’R”, all the chapter’s titles begin with the same letter. Life has become so busy now- a- days that it took toll on one’s health. To gain wellness and to be fit, demands a routine and a regime. This book steps in as a caretaker and a guide to support us in the process of getting back all that we have lost. The most general question rises among many-Why a personal trainer? The necessity of a personal trainer is well emphasised in the book and the simple answer being, to understand your difficulties, provide solutions to your problems, customise a plan according to your requirements and a tailor made regimen and routine that suits your body type along with a diet plan. Above all a support in your endeavour, If this along with the support from the family, then the task can be accomplished with flying colours. I quote from page 53 “Of these, only one is about physical workouts. I call it the “movement Pillar”. This includes different practices like pilates, weight lifting, functional fitness training, Pilardio and floor exercises. It depends on what’s best suited for you. The other three pillars- meditation, life coaching and diet- will also be a part of our programme, we will gradually explore all four facets to transform your mind and body. This way we are able to establish a mind set in place so that you remain committed to your fitness.’’ “Resolve to be a master of change rather than the victim of change- Brian Tracy. The author tries to instil this feature among the readers. The concept of REBUILD is well established in the book, I quote from page 93 of the book about Happiness- “I mean that you can be happy whenever you choose to be so. Happiness is independent of any condition or secret or any path. It is simple formula; reality minus expectations. That’s happiness. Once you accept what is and decide to do the best with what you have, the misery ends.” Description of a personality largely depends on the physical form, the author is successful in bringing out the image - widening paunch, fat jowls, bulging eyes, large stubby hands, bright shiny eyes, rippling taut muscles, too fat, too dull, too un trainable, bright shiny almond eyes etc. In order to accept change, we need to find meaning in it - Mary Norton Gordon. Jasmin tries to help us to understand the change as well as the need to change. I quote from the page 117. “Pilardio comes with a diet plan called JaWa diet. It is a unique diet with a very holistic approach. It can be practised for life. It is about what your body needs, not what your body is craving for.” Nothing is particularly hard if you decide it into small jobs - Henry Ford. In the words of the author obstacles or challenges can also be handled gently with “One baby step at a time”. The author also always insists to avoid short cuts. “Short cuts are not always safe. Besides, allowing the body to gradually adjust to something always works better than shocking it into accepting something.”(Page 119) Jasmin takes the readers on a tour of different perspectives for almost everything. she answers all the questions of a normal man and clears the doubts with her book. Author states success as being excited about what you do, sticking with what matters to you during the rough times and living a life you can feel proud of when you look back. The author provides the readers a necessary tip on pain relief. I quote from page 191, “Simply by deciding to change and controlling your emotions. A conscious decision followed by action can help your brain activate its own pain-relief mechanisms. You don’t need chemical interventions.” Apart from health and fitness, author teaches the readers about baking. The baking is a magical experience right from kneading to waiting for them to rise. “Baking is intoxicating and sensual”, these words of the author shows her interest in baking. She preaches what she teaches. “Enjoy your food.” More than all these, the book also covers on topics like belief, passion, yoga, meditation, ego, dreams, sleep, parenting and discipline. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments - Jim Rohn. The personal trainer in the book sticks to this always. The author concludes by directing the readers towards a lighter mind and lighter body. (Received a copy of the book from WRITERS MELON in return of a honest review)
This book came to me as a surprise and I am really glad that it did. Sometimes, receiving something unexpected makes you curious and same curiosity-driven me into reading this book. Here is my short review of the book names “Change Me” which is written by Jasmin Waldmann and published by Jaico Publishing House.
This is a book of around 250 pages which packs the story of Amit Malhotra, a 35 years old software engineer who is living a successful professional life and a pleasant family life with his parents, wife and a daughter. Then on a tragic day, one incident which occurred in his office changes his entire perspective of looking at life. That day pushes Amit into self-analysis mode. He began to think about what he’s been doing to his life, his mind, and his body. These thoughts were coupled with his friend’s suggestion to hire a personal trainer for a better and healthy lifestyle.
After thinking for days, Amit finally decided to give this idea a try. He meets Natalie who is a trainer by profession and has a solution for almost every problem, whether it is physical or phycological. What follows is extensive sessions of discussions, churning and talk about problems Amit faced in daily life and the solutions for that.
Amit Malhotra, even if just a character of the book, most of us will connect with it. He represents most people who are overburdened in the corporate world and our achievements are defined by the salary cheque and position. Amit’s story is a lesson for all those corporate employees that a healthy lifestyle is not a choice but a necessity.
I enjoyed the book thoroughly because it has explained many techniques of how we can improve our lifestyle to live a healthy life for long. This book has given importance to mental stability as much as physical strength. The only negative point I found is excessive importance to a personal trainer. A personal trainer is not something that everyone can afford or even need that. Apart from that, this book is must read to everyone because it will make open up your mind. Such reads widen your scope of thinking and allow you to explore an alternate way of living.
I will give this book 5 of 5 stars. I would highly recommend it to all those who are about to join the competitive and brutal world of corporate or who are already in that.
I have read quite a few books on self help. Most of the times, I have put them down after reading a few pages or even half of the book because of the monotonous preaching of the author in the books. So, the bait of storytelling in Change Me worked for me. The author lays out the focus areas of her chapters through the titles and goes phase by phase into Amit’s transformation. The journey from Recognize to Resurrect is a story many of us would relate to. On the way, Jasmin has packed up quite a few practical lessons on physical exercise, breathing techniques, and meditation which makes sure that the book is more than just a marketing material for the author and her coaching programs. However, you must bear in mind that this is a self-help book and hence, you must not look for an epic story in these pages. The characters and their conversations are sometimes clichéd, the plot is often predictable, and the text is at times ordinary. It doesn’t help that there are a few typos as well. However, what the book loses in such shortcomings, it gains in the pace of storytelling and the practicality of lessons imparted through conversations between its protagonists.
My favourite part of the book would be the dialogue between Amit and other characters when Natalie takes Amit to his childhood to heal some wounds from the past. I would have liked a few more practical points or To Do things in the book but I believe that there is only one test for any self-help book. Did the book inspire enough to invest more time into my self-improvement? The answer for me is Yes. This is a good, earnestly written book and ends at a sweet length for you to read less and do more. As the title of the book suggests, this book indeed changes not only some perceptions or beliefs, but it has the potential to change the whole of you.
This inspirational and highly impactful book by Jasmin Waldmann takes you through some deeper insights into your lifestyle, food, response to stress & emotions, family, ambitions and, above all, you as a person. In this book, the author speaks to us through Amit Malhotra, a guy whose life externally looks perfect in every way and there seems to be nothing lacking in his life- he has a high-paying job, authority, a perfect wife, good kids and parents always thinking about his success. However, when he dived deep, many gaps could be found and it was all reflected in his food, sleep and various habits.
But then occurs an event which brings to fore all those realisations which Amit already knew but shelved deep in the recess of his mind. He decides to take his life in his own hands now and engages with a life coach, which leads to considerable positive changes to his life and personality.
This book serves as a reality check for readers, reminding us of how we all speak about physical and mental health all the time but never really take any constructive steps towards its improvements.
This is where our protagonist of this book, Amit, resonates with us very well. I am quite sure most of us would identify closely with Amit and his journey to break the shackles of lethargy, procrastination, fears, eating disorders and insecurities.
This book is certainly a page turner and the nuggets of wisdom explained by our fantastic author Jasmin Waldmann will certainly leave the readers with refreshing viewpoints on their own physical and mental health.
Cover is beautiful. It has been designed well. The form, landscape, picturesque of the person portrayed who dreams of redeeming himself has been done appropriately.
Title is good. Its perfect & blends well with the content presented in the book.
The book talks about Amit Malhotra, a high-flying investment banker who loves all the thrills life has to offer & doesn't mind a knack or bite some high-spiced grills or gourments. He has everything which any man could dream of - a loving family, successful career, proverbial good life, luxurious life & not to forget, all included with a paunch of course.
However, things go hay & his life comes to a transencendental halt when a pretty 20 going lady calls him 'uncle' & he finds himself in an awkward phase of life where he's forced to evaluate his lifestyle. The pain adds further, when he loses his dearest friend on a fatal heartattack.
That's when he realises the wrong life he has been leading until now. The gym-hating, food-bringing, couch potato intake system, late-night sleeps, & all that leads to an unhealthy life style must be evaluated, checked & rectified at the earliest with much delay.
That's when he meets his life coach. The simplicity of the book explained via the real life examples, instances which have been extrapolated from daytoday life indulges in inducing positive changes in our lifes with good vibes.
The book is new & refreshing. It's precise & upto the point. It doesn't drag unnecessarily. It's a good self-help book which can be implemented in our daily consumption & daytoday lives.
Language is simple, easy to read and easy to understand. An important book. A must read for all the readers!

The writing style of “Change Me” is quite unique. It preaches the concept of personal development by taking charge of your life through a fictional story. Sometimes it is okay not to be able to do it alone.. at that times you should take help from outside. In today’s times the concept of Life Coaching has come up and is becoming popular by the day.
Complete sustainable control combines the four pillars of Diet, Fitness Training, Life Coaching and Meditation. These four are usually seen as separate pillars but are actually interconnected. These being seen as separate leads to the results achieved from either to be short-lived as the root causes barely ever get fixed. It is true when you really think about it!!
I have always believed that “Living is an Art” and totally stand by it! In order to live life well, one must find balance and control whilst taking care of one’s happiness. You can only keep everyone around you happy if you are content.. else dissatisfaction is bound to crop up at one point. Small changes in your life can lead to big results. Changes in eating habits, thought, handling people, exercising, composing thoughts, increasing family time, anything.. no change for the better is too small.. it always has bigger outcomes.
“Change Me” focuses too much on the importance of a life coach. While it is great to see someone getting their life in track using the concepts of life coaching, this book often felt like a promotion of the author’s classes. However, the key takeaway from the book – the concept and application in one’s own life must not get lost.
Since we were kids, we have heard this quote saying Health is Wealth. We have heard lots of advices and tips on taking care of our bodies, exercising regularly, but how many of us take it seriously?
'Change Me' is one of those rare and not-so typical health books which tells us the importance of fitness of mind, body and spirit through a fictional story. This way of narration helps the readers to connect on a personal level with this book.
I personally felt like I was reading one of my own experiences. I was one of those foolish and ignorant people who took health for granted. I learnt my lesson the hard way.
Many times in life, we don't realise the importance of something till we lose it. Many people take their bodies for granted till they actually face some health issues. But with today's modern lifestyle we all need to move our bodies, exercise, eat healthy and nutritious food.
Set targets for yourself.
Break big targets into smaller ones.
Take baby steps to reach your goals.
You can't choose circumstances, so choose to be happy.
One of those eye opening reads, which gives an amazing message through Amit's journey. Definitely a must read for every person who takes his/her life and body for granted.
Change me is a fast moving and straight book focusing on physical, mental and emotional health through the journey of Amit.
A 35 years old, highly qualified and financially well off investment banker realises the importance of being healthy after being called “uncle” and witnessing a sudden death of a colleague. He decides to take up a training and diet program with a life coach cum fitness trainee Natalie Kofman.
All through the book the reader learns about a lot about the human body in a different perspective.
Amit not only sheds the fat but also learns a lot about his body, his true likes dislikes when it comes to food, causes of compulsive and impulsive eating, easy and practical ways to deal with stress with meditation techniques. Most importantly he clears the clutter of the past and mends his relations with his family. Moving foward he makes way to start a business or a café of his own with a wonderful initial step..that’s the best part of the book!
The book is simple and refreshing but I found a few printing errors that disappointed me but the overall content of the book pretty much made up for these errors.
For people who have already read a lot of self-help books, this book is not for them.
When I bought this book, the title “CHANGE ME” seemed like a real guide book. I had thought some kind programme would have been given to the readers to follow for may be a month or 21 days to be able to see changes in one’s mental and physical well being.
However, the book is more like a day-to-day narrative of a 35 year old man and is filled with long descriptions of scenarios taking place in his life which rather make the book a drag instead of making it interesting. The book actually did not give me anything insightful to inculcate in my daily routine to help me build a better life, if I put it easily.
People new to self help books may like this book but it was not for me.
And yes, as amply said by others, this book also seems an attempt to actually market her Pillardio and JaWa diet, even minute details of which have not been described in the book.
This story is from protagonist Amit Malhotra’s perspective. It is a Amit’s inspiring journey towards holistic fitness with the help of a life coach.
The book helps to diacover yourself. Amit Malhotra’s character is very well written. The book makes readers to help in accepting healthy lifestyle. I loved the concept of this book.
The book is amazingly written. The language of this book is simple and easy. The book is very good and thoughts are easy to follow. The book will open your mind and also helps to understand life from different perspective.
I would recommend this book to all those who wish to read good self-help book.
