We love these books, they're very colourful, rhyming and are subtly helping readers with their counting skills! Check out the others in the series, we love ten little monsters too!
My 4yo daughter, who is on spectrum, unexpectedly attached to this book so much, she learned how to count all the robots on the cover and how to read (!) the big onomatopoeia words such as 'Clang', 'Nee Nah', 'Boing' and 'Buzzz'.
I love it! Keeping her focused on a book was always a challenge for me, but this one is pure magic. Because while I read the book for her, I point at the sound effects, and she more than happily enacts these sounds. So we're both engaged in reading. And she wants to sit through it until the very end (and then asks me to read it two more times). And with every reading, she starts to recognise more words!
Also she's big on colours and shapes, so the little robots are up her alley - they are colourful and their heads have different shapes. The more we read, the more details she notices in the book, such as the Pink robot that fixes the damaged drone at the end or the Brown robot who dances with a cassette recorder.
Can't recommend this book more. If you have a child that loves robots, funny sounds, maths, colours, shapes and small details, get this book now!
This is a big book about the numbers one to ten. Ten little robots are going through the robot factory but there is a problem with the machine and slowly one-by-one the group are getting reduced from ten to nine to eight... all the way to one. But there is a happy ending with the one remaining robot managing to fix the factory and regroup with the others again.
The cover is a shiny silver colour. The first thing my son did with this was get his dirty finger-prints over it, so watch out for that. Also inside the pictures could have been clearer. As each robot is being knocked off it is hard to see in the pictures where this is.
However the story is good and rhymes (mostly - oven and seven is a bit of a stretch) and my three-year-old son loves his numbers so for him this book is great.
This would be a great text to use in the early years setting when children are learning to count. This book teaches counting down from 10 to 1 in a creative way by using a story of ten robots who one by one end up disappearing and then how the final robot saves them all in the end. The pages are really bright and colourful and i think that this would really appeal to younger children, however at times the pages seem a little overcrowded and it makes it a bit overwhelming when reading.

Purchased this book at Auckland Airport because of the cover. The beautifully illustrated book is packed with so much action that you'll have to read it again and again! Read aloud to mixed-aged group of children (20 months-6 years old) who shared the interest in the story plot. Would use this book as a supporting literacy material for preschoolers when learning about rhymes.
This is a great book to read aloud in an early years setting, as there are opportunities for children to get involved with the counting. There is a nice rhyming structure to this text which will aid this counting further - as the text counts in descending order it will also help children in their ability to count fluently backwards.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It has a simple rhyme to it so it is really enjoyable to read aloud and children really enjoy it as they can count down the robots. I read this book to a year 1 class and they loved it.
This book is great for teaching maths through story. It displays 10 different robots with different shaped heads. It is great for linking with counting and shapes, and the illustrations really enhance the book.
This is a really lovely book which would be great to use in a KS1 maths lesson where the children are learning to count back from 10 in 1s. The book also offers opportunities for looking at different shapes with children.
My three grandchildren are enjoying a robot interest at the moment and they enjoy counting. They enjoy the large font words in this book, sounding out and saying these words. They also enjoy the illustrations.
Another stunning book from Mike Brownlow - a page turner for all children, with detailed pictures full of things to see, and ten little robots to keep an eye on as they wander through the factory and cause mischief.
