There’s something so comforting about Daniela Drescher’s books, and Pippa and Pelle in the Autumn Wind is no exception. This sweet autumn tale follows the two little friends as they step out into the blustery weather, meeting animals and enjoying the simple gifts of the season.

The real magic here is in the illustrations
- soft watercolors in warm, earthy tones that capture the coziness of autumn. Drescher has a way of making every page feel like a peek into an enchanted woodland world. Even though the story itself is very simple (more of a gentle seasonal moment than a full narrative), it’s exactly right for very young readers. Toddlers and preschoolers will be drawn in by the pictures, while the short text makes it perfect for bedtime or circle time.

This book is also a lovely addition for families who enjoy celebrating the seasons in a Waldorf-inspired way. It’s a reminder that even the windiest, chilliest days can bring little joys when shared with friends.

Dit is zo'n boekje dat pappa en mamma een 'vrijeschoolboekje' noemen. Dat heeft geloof ik iets met de manier van tekenen te maken, en met dat het over een seizoen gaat. Een paar dagen lang wilde ik het verhaaltje best vaak horen, maar daarna kwam ik er nog maar zelden mee aanzetten. Misschien omdat er niet echt iets in het boekje gebeurt. Het is herfst en een kabouterkoppel doet wat dingen die je dan zoal kan doen - dat is het wel zo'n beetje.
