In September of 2015 at age 22 Heather Mann is sitting in an emotional state somewhere in between despair and depression. Anxiety attacks are becoming increasingly frequent, traumatic memories have been simmering away unaddressed for years, and she feels increasingly isolated from the mass of seemingly happy and satisfied people surrounding her.
Rather than succumb to the pressure to settle down and accept life's inevitable mediocrity she decides to do battle with her despair. With planes, trains, buses and cars as her sole companions she goes out to see the world with one additional goal: to heal some pain, and to hopefully even find some sort of joy. What follows is a two year seemingly unending slog of difficult lessons learnt, heartaches felt and trauma to work through. A darkness which is juxtaposed with the wild freedom, soul-mate friendships and magical beauty that comes in solo ventures out into the world.
Unhinged follows these journeys. It is a journey one woman takes out into the world alone, and the coinciding journey that she must take within to the depths of her self.
