Rate this book
The houses in Saffron Lane are being filled with artists thanks to the efforts of Nell and Angus. Ginger doesn’t win a place there, but gets a job running the small café/art gallery, taking refuge there from her abusive bully of a son. When she meets Iain, sparks fly between them, the first time she’s felt attracted to anyone for years. But will her son spoil it?
Emil is in town to open the small museum in Saffron Lane and run his father’s business. This throws new opportunities in his path, and new problems too. Will the newcomers manage to build new lives or will selfish people destroy their attempts to find happiness?

After reading book 5 at Christmas I set out to find the others in the series. I read this after book 5, and it was fine to read as a standalone without reading the previous 3 books.

This book is a gem of a book, with great characters, and storyline. I really like the style of writing which draws you in and keeps you wanting more. I d love to see more of these characters in the future to find out how they get on with there new found lives.

Although I have read the other 3 books in this series and enjoyed them a lot I didnt enjoy this one much.

I am not sure why. The new characters were a bit dull and predicatable and the storyline the same. I really hope Anna doesnt string out another book from this series as I really loved the first three and this one just did not do it for me

As in the previous 3 of the Peppercorn series I really enjoyed revisiting the characters and finding new ones. The ups and downs of village life is very dear to me as I remember all these types of characters from my home in Scotland. I miss those times when everyone helped each other and looked out for each other something I feel is gone nowadays in our ‘busy’ lives. Read this and take time to smell the roses along the way ... you will not be disappointed if you need a feel good story. You’ll love some and despise some in this book. I thoroughly enjoy Anna’s books and as she’s written over 80 I might be busy for a while yet! No spoilers though so take a look for a quick read even though I stopped and read others in between for my Bookclub!

I really enjoyed this book. Anna Jacobs is one of my favourite authors. I usually stick with historical fiction, of which I have read some of Anna Jacobs work. Sometimes I find saga type books set in the modern day too twee for my taste. This book did not fall into that category, although it did have happy coincidences it was very well written and the characters had a real warmth about them. There was mystery, romance, a bit of history, and most importantly friendships. This is the fourth book of a series and unfortunately the first I have read, that didn't matter but I would now like to read the other three books.

This author is amazing.

This story was lovely and the new people Elise,Stacey and Ginger what lovely ladies as well as the men Iain and Emel also Abbie and Kesiah.Cutler and the crazy council women were not very nice I'm glad they got their comupence ,lovely that Abbie found a sister to help her when the father died a bit of a shock i should imagine also the inheritance he left so they both didn't have to struggle anymore.Gingers son getting help for his problems and being at the wedding let's hope he's changed his ways for them.

As the last in the series, reading Bay Tree Cottage was like reconnecting with a crowd of old friends. Anna's characters are, for the most part, ordinary people caught up in difficult situations not of their making. They achieve satisfying resolutions which leave the reader with a warm, happy feeling. While not romance novels, there is a romantic element to this (and other novels by Anna Jacobs) story which adds to the enjoyment.

Book 4 the final one of the series sees Angus and Nell's dream of an artist colony fully realised and a few more characters such as Emil, Ian and Ginger introduced as part of the Peppercorn series family. I really didn't want this series to end or say goodbye to the characters who felt almost like friends.

The 4th book in the series was another "can't put it down" book. Some nice and not so nice new characters to join with the old favourites. Definitely recommend the series and Anna Jacob's books in general.

Like previous reviewer this is not as good as the other books in the series. Bay tree cottage hardly appears it is more an extension of saffron lane. Not sure if this is the end of the line for the peppercorn series or not.
