Again, A revenge story where the heroine is the sufferer of the hero's revenge agenda. Why?
Because she was the villain's daughter.
The heroine was ok till the middle of the story but she forgave him without any groveling/reason. Hopeless heroine again. I can understand why the heroine loved the hero but when it comes to the hero he never loved her and always plotting for revenge against her. So suddenly ILY and HEA were never believable.
Safety Issue: It was safe. No Cheating and No OW/OM drama. But the book was not worth trying...
Because she was the villain's daughter.

3.5 rounded up because this one was old skool.
Old skool in:
* How the focus was only on the H/h:
Hero had a henchman and heroine had a co-worker, but that’s it.
*How the story plunged right into the action:
The hero hated the hero’s father and went right after the heroine with sex and a fake relationship
*How the interior monologues were only about the hero’s plans, the heroine’s thoughts of love and later, the twinges of hero’s guilt:
No longwinded psychanalysis, no memories of abuse or any vulnerabilities. Hero was angry and alpha and acted accordingly.
*Heroine was a ninny and blameless:
She stayed that way the entire time and kept falling for the hero over and over again. She didn’t care about the money he swindled out of her, but she didn’t make a big Abby Green song and dance about deprivation. She kept it in perspective. Her *heart * was broken. That’s all that really matters in a romance, yes?
*How this was resolved:
Ninny had to forgive the hero if her broken heart was going to be mended. That’s the only logical outcome of such a scenario. Hero barely groveled, but Ninny is happy, so I’m happy.
*The abrupt ending:
There is an epilogue but heroine is still pregnant, so who knows what their life will be like. He’s such an alpha that it would be hard to realistically show him being human with a child. He’s just a revenge/orgasm machine.
*The only thing that wasn’t old skool:
Heroine was not a virgin.
More of this please! I loved the simplicity of it.

Good revenge story. It was angsty and entertaining. Both hero and heroine are experienced so no virgins here sadly but they were both faithful.

If you know me you’d know how much of a whore I am for making the daughter pay for the sins of her father trope. I could read a million books with this trope and still not get tired.
I’ve gotta hand it to the author for making Alexios so realistically deceiving and manipulative, like it was his favorite pastime, what with his saccharine words and cunning way of making her fall into bed with him just after spending an evening together. I could smell Alexios’s axe body spray through my screen. 🫦🫦
I felt such second hand embarrassment for Athena while she was blushing at this talk of finding the right woman and he was thinking not a chance .
Yup, cruel. And exactly my type.
I have never been uncomfortable by the vicious ways of a man seeking revenge, no matter how nasty he gets with his scheming and even—ESPECIALLY— when innocent heroine gets caught in the cross hairs of his need to avenge the wronged and irrevocably hurts her. In my eyes the more a hero exudes ‘red flags!’ vibe in spades, the faster I fall for him. But this is the first time where I thought that there is no way the author could redeem Alexios, and I was right she didn’t. His hasty love declarations felt like that of a fuck boy’s, who half heartedly confesses his feelings with whole hearted intentions of straying.
However that didn’t bother me much, but the lack of angst suree did. And Athena not showing any kind of hatred for him aggravated me!!! Girl, this guy swindled your entire inheritance out of you and gave no explanations for it, lied to you, deceivingly bedded you, got you pregnant, didn’t contact you for two months and you’re just moving into his house with little incentive? And not lying to him and saying that the baby is not his!? She failed me on this tbh 😔
I was kind of with Athena when she said she’d never stopped loving him even after he betrayed her, Alexios just gave the kind of vibe that would make anyone fall in love deeply with him, anyone with no self respect and self preservation ofc and an affinity for men that screamed red flags. Anyone being me.

And then he would walk away.”

A very intense revenge story, maybe too much so. Alexios had promised his dying father that he would have revenge on the man who had betrayed the father and contributed to Alexios' mother's death. When the betrayer dies, Alexios turns his revenge to the man's daughter. Athena is an archaeologist, specializing in Greek mythology, and is cautious at first when a very handsome man "chats her up", then rescues her bag from a would-be thief. She falls into bed with him the first night, but somehow it's organic to the flow of the story.
The reader gets both Alexios' and Athena's viewpoints, so the reader knows what's coming. That makes the ultimate betrayal all the more intense and shattering. All through the so-called H drawing the h closer to him, you *know* it's not because he cares, but because it will make the revenge all the sweeter for him.
Some have indicated that Alexios had qualms all along the way, but to me there was no sign that he had second thoughts for what he was doing. In fact, once he learned about the baby, he was determined that this would add to his revenge.
I gave this 5 *'s because I was very involved in this, but I struggled with no real grovel to Athena. The only way I knew his feelings was through his thoughts, but he never really said "sorry".
That said, I highlighted 53 intense passages, because there was so much emotion going on.

Yeah, it was ok at the beginning, got really good into the middle, but fizzled a bit just after half way when heroine became a bit spineless and the hero couldn’t figure out why she still didn’t want to talk to him 2 months after stealing billions from her ( even though he’d spent an entire decade seeking revenge for his father!) About 3.5

This has a very traditional or old school revenge seeking HP hero and he follows all the way through with his plan. The heroine falls completely into place throughout his plan, but interestingly enough 1. she’s not a virgin and 2. she has a semblance of a backbone.
Though honestly, his ‘sins of the father...’ revenge plot falls somewhat short as she has no idea, she just thinks he’s a greedy pig. And if some man seduces you into turning over the inheritance you’ve only had for a few days, don’t you think you’d have your lawyers and the media at least try rip him apart? She simply went back to her life, throw in a pregnancy and he insists on being involved. I guess her revenge was better served when she walks away from him when he finally explained the why and tells her he loves her. But, this is HP so of course, they get their HEA.
I think I’d like to read about his minion, Anton, he seemed even more keen on revenge, why, I wonder.

What a fantastic revenge themed novel! Billionairess falls for a gorgeous Greek alpha billionaire on the beautiful island of Santorini. Excellent plot and the sexual chemistry was off the charts! The h is an intelligent archeologist and I liked her from page one. Despite his deep desire for revenge, the H realizes his true emotions for the beautiful h and all ends happily. A very sweet epilogue. I found this to be a page turner and read it in one sitting. Loved it.

Alexios Kyriakos feels he has missed his chance for revenge when the man that had destroyed his father dies. But he figures taking the fortune left to his daughter, and destroying her life would do just as well. Taking the money was easy. Finding out she was having his child after destroying her life was not as planned. Or as easy to deal with.
Athena Nikolides could not believe her father had left her his entire fortune. It was not something she ever really wanted. Having Alexios take over seemed the best thing to do. Until he left. And then she finds she is having his child. And that the entire time, she was just a means for revenge on her dead father.
Just did not do much for me. Seemed a little pathetic to think getting revenge AFTER a person is dead would ever mean anything. And finding out you were used as a pawn in the scheme would not instill trust to me.

There was a really, great and natural flow to the story that started from page one and carried all the way through to the last page of the book. It was smooth as it was effortless and made for a really seamless arc in the story. What was fantastic about that was that I felt like Alexios was seducing me just like he was seducing Athena in the book, even though what he was doing wasn’t right by any stretch of imagination. He made it work, and he made me believe all that was coming out of his mouth despite knowing that he had an alternative motive the entire time. He really did a good job at seducing Athena with all his romantic gestures and basically playing her for a majority of the book. And the way the story was written that was accomplished beautifully.
Despite the fact that he was playing her as I said, this book was very romantic. Yes, it was part of his revenge plan in order to get Athena to trust him and bend her to his will, but deep down I think the revenge aspect got pushed to the back burner because he began to care about her and want to be with her. She was becoming very special to him, and it was clear, and he was conflicted throughout the revenge plot. His heart wasn’t really into it. He planned some really romantic things for her and some sweet things too. I can’t imagine what he would have done if the revenge plot wasn’t motivating him in part. This was one of the most romance I had seen in a book in awhile.
Yes, his. Intent was on revenge and he planned on seducing her in order to earn her trust so she would sign over all her wealth to him, and this was from the very beginning of the book. He set it up from the very beginning of how the met plus he had file on her and even set it up so that she would go with him and he did what he had to do before seducing her in his bed. This happened very early on, and Athena went along with it and slept with him shortly after the met. Usually the whole strangers sleeping together bothers me and I hate that plot line, but in this one because it felt like a natural progression from the time they met until when they went to bed together. What worked for me was the fact that there was a lot of sizzle and anticipation during their entire interaction before they made it to the bedroom. It took time to get there and wasn’t like they met and the next scene they were in bed together. There was the whole flirting at the cafe and little bit of sexy banter back and forth that really showed off their chemistry and connection. Then there’s was the scene at the palace where they had a dinner date and watched the sunset there. There was a lot of tension and sizzle between them before their lips even met. I knew they were going to be scorching when they finally hit the sheets. Again lots of good anticipation between the two of them and just had a great lead up until they finally succumbed to their passions. But it took time to get there, despite the fact that it happened all in the same day. I really appreciated the time that it took to get from point a to point b. Plus the fact that the way it was written made me want it too didn’t hurt either.
There was lots of passionate scenes between them fused in between the romance. The kisses were as sexy and hot as the love scenes were. I loved seeing all the little moments between these two whether it was kissing her forehead, holding hands, or just cuddling together. It was really sweet and lovely to see them like that and actually made me believe that they were a couple who were falling genuinely in love with each other even in such a short span of time. Plus the love scenes were pretty good too. Lots passion. Lots heat. Lots of sexy times. They really showed off that they had chemistry in bedroom and a connection that neither one of them was expecting. And it was kind of beautiful. In fact the romance was beautiful in general despite it not being motivated by the most pure hearted of reason.
I loved the writing in the book too. It was very evocative. Very romantic with the beautiful settings being described beautifully that I felt like I was practically there with Alexios and Athena. Just the writing really took me on a journey and adventure with just the words being my guide. It started from the very beginning describing the island and the setting that just really pulled me in. It was hard not to get into the story because the words really took me there, and that was do to such excellent writing.
One of the things that I wished was different was that Alexiois actually decided to go through with the revenge plot despite the fact that he had feelings for her. Granted he didn’t acknowledge nor did want to abandon his plan after ten years of putting it together, but I wish he did because it would have shown so much of his feelings to her. I almost wish he abandoned the plot yet she found out about it somehow then that would caused all the drama and angst that followed that would have made for a juicier story and a lot more angst.
The angst was there however once she found out the truth behind his motives, but I think there could have been a little more. Yes, she made him work for it as she should have, but I think that there could have been a little more of him making it up to her. That part of the story was a little rushed for my liking, not that it was bad, but I was expecting more, but the length of the book would not permit that which I understand. I guess just wanted a little more groveling and a bigger gesture. That’s all.
And I also wished that the final love scene was shown after months of not being together. I think it would have been a really poignant moment between them. A special one. A tender one. And I just really wanted to see that passionate reunion between the two of them. I just wanted to see them come together mind, body and soul as they consummated their marriage. I think it would have really been a beautiful scene to see in detail and not just summarized in a couple sentences. I love to read the love scenes in detailed once the feelings between both hero and heroine are finally acknowledged. It just would have made it all the more satisfying to me to see such a scene between Alexios and Athena.
Overall I really did enjoy this book, and there were parts of the book I really loved especially the romantic aspects of this story even if it wasn’t motivated by the purest of motives, but it didn’t bother me because I was utterly seduced by Alexios as much as Athena was. He was a definite charmer and knew how to seduce. He was good, I’ll admit it, but I also think that he cared as soon as they met so that softened the blow a bit too. I really enjoyed the process of seeing them fall in love. It was obvious just under the dark cloud of the revenge plot, but it was there. But if that didn’t happened then the drama nor the angst would hav happened and I enjoyed that. Wish it was longer though and I wish he had to work a little bit more for her forgiveness, but despite that and his actions I was rooting for Alexios all the way. I fell love with him. I couldn’t help it, and I really liked Athena too. I wanted to see them get their happily ever after. I can see myself reading this one again sometime in the future because it is worth just going on the journey with them once again and being romanced and seduced by Alexios doesn’t hurt either.

But if that didn’t happened then the drama nor the angst would hav happened and I enjoyed that. Wish it was longer though and I wish he had to work a little bit more for her forgiveness, but despite that and his actions I was rooting for Alexios all the way. I fell love with him. I couldn’t help it, and I really liked Athena too. I wanted to see them get their happily ever after. I can see myself reading this one again sometime in the future because it is worth just going on the journey with them once again and being romanced and seduced by Alexios doesn’t hurt either.

This is my first book by this author and...wow...consider me a new fan! I loved it! The old-school angst, the revenge plot, the chemistry between the leads! Just great! I've been off of HPs for a while and this brought me back. As always, I love my H's to grovel and I guess he did, still not enough, but I can see that he suffered. The h was great and didn't give in too quickly and I understood all of her anger and even her stupidly signing papers without her lawyer present. I'll give her a pass on that because the angst factor stayed up there. Give this a try if you like revenge plots and angst. Solid 4 stars! Would've love it if the h hadn't slept with him right away and if she'd been a virgin.

I hate to add a harsh review because I so admire anyone who has the gumption to actually write and publish a book. However, this story line was just ridiculous. The guy deliberately targets her, lies, sleeps with her, and steals her newly inherited BILLION-dollar fortune before kicking her to the curb - all the while justifying to himself that "it's nothing personal". She treats that act of betrayal about on par as if he had stood her up for dinner. I'm pretty sure any other women would be slightly more angered by such heinous behavior.
One of the aspects I DID like was that she was a career woman, an archaeologist. (Yay! Not yet another wide-eyed virgin with no ability to manage her own life!) But even that was beyond belief when she’s involved in the discovery of a shipwreck where the recovery process seems to take a couple days.
The plot points were so impractical that it ruined enjoyment of the story for me.

2.5 stars, this one was slightly unique in that declarations of love were made about 50 pages before the ending and you could tell the H was sincerely sorry and devastated about hurting h with his revenge plans. it was nice to see some plot reserved for post-declaration and how he actually had to wait and suffer a bit before h took him back.
pacing was an issue though, about first 40% is devoted to their orchestrated fling and it's basically a waste of pages as we know the h is falling in love while H is just trying to get his revenge plans in motion.

Typical HP revenge story. Loved the angsty angle of the plot. I liked how the H realised the error of his ways and tried to redeem himself but the h made him work for her forgiveness. Good read.

But that ending...well, you'll just have to read it for yourself to see why I changed my mind about the novel. While I couldn't give it a five-star rating, neither did it merit only one star. Some will say (and have already said) that Athena forgave him too quickly, but...did she? I'll let you decide...

I do love a good revenge story and this is a good one, Trish Morey knows how to bring out the real life feelings in her characters and give them the angst and the emotions to keep a reader turning the pages, yes there were times that I wasn’t too happy with the hero but who doesn’t love a story where the readers emotions are running high as well, this is one that I highly recommend.
Athena Nikolides life had been up and down her parents divorced and she lived in Melbourne with her Australian mother, spending holidays with her Greek father, but when her mother dies she moves to Greece but she does not feel happy there and becomes a bit of a wild child and when she is disowned by her wealthy father, she meets a mentor makes a good life for herself as an archaeologist, and now her life is about to be turned upside down again after her father passes away and leaves his billions to her. She needs to be wary of men but when her bag is snatched and the gorgeous Alexios Kyriakos comes to the rescue she feels safe, or should she.
Alexios has worked hard to make his millions but he made a promise to his dying father to seek renege and he will do so not matter that, that man has died he will still get his revenge through his daughter and with a plan in motion so it begins, but Alexios never realizes the emotions and feelings that come with spending time with Athena, her caring and loving ways and the emotions that come to the surface when they are in bed together and the easy way they talk soon turn his world upside down, and then there is his child to consider.
WOW this story has so many emotions flying from the pages hate and love are very close to each other at times and although Athena hates Alexios after what he does to her, when she discovers that she is pregnant and he pushes his way back into her life her feelings are put on the edge again, I truly loved this story even though there were times I truly could have hit Alexios but he proved his love and sincerity for me, this is a story that left me feeling very contented, I loved the setting and with the archaeological references very interesting as well, thank you MS Morey for another keeper.

Considering this had all the Harlequin cliches like a over the top senseless revenge plot, pregnancy, blackmail I would have given it a 1 star. But I upgraded it two whole stars as the h actually had the good sense towards the end of the book told H to take a hike and that she pitied him for the revenge plot. H's dad had been cheated out of a business option that he shared with h's dad/friend and can't move on in his life from that one single moment and H seduces, betrays h out of her inheritance. The ending was unexpected in the h learning to accept and move forward with forgiveness but making H face it and understand his own fallibility.

IF he had stopped before enacting the revenge maybe I could see them working out. But he followed through and she should have aborted and never spoken to him again. He was a non-stop asshole and the woman was wrong to take him back in any way. The fact that her mentor/friend gaslighted her into taking him back is also reprehensible. I couldn't stomach reading the epilogue.

I hated this one, the "hero" came across as so heartless for most of the book. I will never understand making peoples kids pay the consequences for their parents wrong doings. I could not at all see his point one little iota, no matter how horrible heroines father was there is zero justification to make her pay any price. I also was not at all a fan of heroine entertaining having an abortion. P.
