When someone tries to kill former government agent Jonna Strand, Ian Brady comes to her rescue. Now Ian must keep Jonna safe and catch the would-be killer—without revealing he was sent undercover to protect her. But when Jonna learns the truth, can she look past his secrets and lean on him to ensure they live through the storm-ridden night?

Definitely intense, hair-raising action in the latest Coldwater Bay Intrigue suspense by Elizabeth Goddard! She never disappoints me with her stories, they have plenty of elements to keep me invested in them. This is a high-stake, action-packed, run-for-your-life but at the same time confront-the-danger adventure. I really love that Jonna is portrayed as a competent, strong female lead and not some wilting damsel in distress! She can well take care of herself in spite of the high-risk to her life. Ian certainly has his hands full trying to protect her almost strong-will nature. He's the epitome of a natural hero and would give his life to keep her safe. Though they sound like perfect people, they aren't! They struggle with mistakes in their past that cost lives and need to learn to forgive themselves in order to move on. The author puts them in situations where they need to confront those issues and find peace in God. I like the realism throughout the story, bringing it to life in my mind. Under it all, is the slow burn of romance brewing, though it doesn't take precedence over the suspense element. You can feel the attraction between these two and root for their happiness you know is coming at the end. Since I reside on the Oregon coast, I well know what our winter storms look like, sound like, and feel like and it adds to the already tense nature. I can picture in my mind what it looks like when Jonna jogs on the beach on a stormy winter night, bringing shivers down my spine! That's when I know the author did her job, when I can intensely feel the danger in a well-written suspense novel. I can't wait for the next Coldwater Bay Intrigue installment!
Be sure to read the “Dear Reader” at the end, even Goddard said “she wrapped up in blankets while she wrote the story” because she could feel the intensity of those storms. You know if an author can accurately describe something to make themselves feel it, you as a reader will too and are in for a treat!

I can't believe it took me this long to finish reading Stormy Haven, but man did I enjoy going through it! This story felt more personal to me for a few reasons...I live in Miami, I have two family members in law enforcement, and I love storms. Jonna was shot and nearly killed three years prior and has moved on with her life running the inn with a view of the best storms. Little does she know that her past has finally caught up to her and the nightmare has become real again.
Ian is such a great guy, but he also has a past trauma yet he can't resist when Uncle Gil hires him to secretly protect Jonna while being a guest at her inn. Will he be able to keep this secret and be successful at the job this time?
My favorite character in this story is Chop Suey, Jonna's cat. He was such an enhancement to the plot and made this cat lover smile more than once.
She sagged, then gave in and plopped on the sofa. Chop Suey decided to return and mewled, rubbing back and forth at her ankles. "I am in so much trouble, and I don't mean just because there's a crazy man out there who wants me dead."
Stormy Haven is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone, I totally recommend it and can't get enough of Goddard's books.

Stormy Haven was pulse pounding and action packed! The danger started almost immediately upon opening the book and the main characters, Ian and Jonna, kept finding themselves in danger time and again! I enjoyed that the author was able to keep me guessing about who exactly was behind the repeated attempts on Jonna’s life.
I also enjoyed the way the relationship built between Ian and Jonna. Both of these characters viewed themselves as damaged, with little to offer somone by way of a relationship. But, that didn’t stop those feelings from growing and the author handled them in a natural and believable way.
Stormy Haven is book two in a series, but is easily able to be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to more books in the series.
(4.5 stars)

Under the direction of his Uncle Gil, Ian Brady goes undercover to protect one of his uncle’s former employees. He must not reveal to the former government agent, Jonna Strand who he is or why he is staying at the Washington State Inn that she now runs after leaving Miami. Action packed from the beginning to the final page. The storyline is riveting filled with intrigue, a dangerous storm, someone trying to kill Jonna, suspense with some romance trying to kindle. The main characters are well defined, well developed, artfully drawn and have interesting past to overcome. The supporting characters add to the story. Even Jonna’s fur baby, Chop Suey, the cat is a fun addition to the story. This is book # 2 in the Coldwater Bay Intrigue Mystery series. It can be read as a stand alone. I volunteered to read Stormy Haven. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
'God, show me what to do. I know when I'm weak You are strong. Be strong for me. Show me the way. Please don't let this man kill anyone else.
Jonna was shot and left for dead several years ago, but has moved across the entire country to run a lodge. But it seems as if her killer has found her. Or is it the serial killer on the loose terrorizing women lately? Ian has been sent by his uncle in security to protect Jonna, but she doesn't know that. Together can they find the killer or killers before she ends up dead?
Elizabeth Goddard continues her Coldwater Bay Intrigue series with this second offering and she ramps up the suspense very well. She even has the weather suspenseful! Don't miss this one if you're a fan of her work. And even if you're not. You soon will be.
*My thanks to the author for a copy of this book. The opinions stated above are my own.
I love a good thunderstorm. There is such power and beauty of them. Add in the craggy Pacific Northwest coast, and those storms become majestic. And what a perfect setting for romantic suspense!
Former ICE agent Jonna Strand walked away from her life in Miami, returning to Coldwater Bay in Washington where she runs a lodge where people come to watch the storms as the roll in over the Pacific Ocean. Now hints of her previous life are seeping into her new life.
Ian Brady checked into Oceanview Lodge with a hidden agenda—to make sure Jenna remains safe (and alive).
Ian and Jonna are strong, independent individuals who each carry guilt over past situations. While their responses to their disappointments and regrets are different, they both have a sense of justice and the need to protect ingrained in them.
Against the backdrop of the rugged, and sometimes dangerous Washington coast, Stormy Haven weaves a tale of danger, secrets, regrets, corruption, and attraction I couldn’t put down.

Stormy Haven ( Coldwater Bay Intrigue #2 ) By: Elizabeth Goddard Stormy Haven is book two in Coldwater Bay Intrigue Series. It is a Love Inspired Suspense. I love the story and the characters, both are well written and well developed. I was captured right at the first and did not want to put it down. The author did not disappoint. This is one of those edge of your seat stories where I could not read fast enough to see what was going to happen next. Just when you think you can breathe , something else happens. This is a fast paced action filled suspense and romance story. Someone is trying to kill Jonna , a former government agent. Ian comes to her rescue, but can he keep her safe and alive? I was given a complimentary copy of this book , but was not told that I had to give positive review. All opinions are my own.
Story Haven - just the title of the book should tell you about the suspense that will happen within the pages of this book! The characters are well developed and the story line definitely keeps you turning those pages - my advice? Don't read it during an intense storm! Much of the first part of the book happens during a big storm in the Pacific Northwest and that happens to be where I live so I know how those storms are. Jonna used to be a government agent but she was shot and left for dead in Miami a few years ago so she walked away from that life and went clear across the country to manage an Inn on the cliff of the Washington state shoreline. She's happy there until someone tries to kill her! One of her guests, Ian Brady, just "happens" to come to her rescue. She doesn't know that he was sent undercover to protect her. I think you can guess what happens when she finds out who he really is! Jonna is a strong, capable former government agent! She's no shrinking violet! Both Ian and Jonna have issues in their past that they need to get over to move on. Working through this "case" is going to help them do this. I loved watching Jonna continue to be a strong woman but still lean on Ian when she needed to. They were a good team. There are many surprises that keep this book entertaining and wanting to see what happens in the end! I highly recommend this book! Even though I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the author, I was not required to review it. These thoughts and opinions are my own!
This is book 2 in the Coldwater Bay Intrigue series from Elizabeth Goddard. Jonna Strand runs a lodge known for it's amazing views & storm watching. She left her old life behind in Miami & is running from memories that still haunt her of being left for dead in her previous job of being an ICE Agent.
Ian Brady has left his job in law enforcement and started his own security consultant business. He has been hired by Jonna's previous boss to watch over and protect Jonna in the event that an old threat finds out where she is these days and he can't let her know why he is there. She thinks he is just a guest that enjoys watching storms. He has a secret past of his own that he is trying to forget. Then the past catches up with both of them and becomes their present.
I was hooked on this book from page 1. I enjoy all of Elizabeth Goddard's books. She is one of my favorite authors, She consistently puts out amazing suspense novels that grip you from the very first sentence. This one is no different. I love the setting. I live in Washington State and wish this lodge was real. I'd love to watch the storms along the coast. It really was not just a setting, but a character of it's own. I loved the leads. Ian and Jonna really had me rooting for them. There is not much I didn't love about this book. It was fast paced, suspenseful, and had you believing you were riding right along with them. I can't wait to read the 3rd book in the series when it comes out!
Wow! I was sick when I was reading this book but that didn't stop me from staying up all night to finish it. I was blown away with the intense killers, and the strong chemistry between our heroes. It was fast paced and delightful for a mystery fan to read.
Stormy Haven by Elizabeth Goddard is a fast-paced, action-packed, thrilling adventure of a story! I was riveted with the bullet-swift plot as the main protagonists traversed rocky, dangerous situations with every chapter!
On the edge of my seat while reading this story. From one danger to the next danger, the author keeps the excitement and anticipation continuing through the whole book. Just when things seem to be calm, something else happens. Great reading. I couldn't put the book down. I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.
Stormy Haven (Coldwater Bay Intrigue) Elizabeth Goddard Stormy Haven is a 5-star book that will keep you at the edge of your seat. It is action packed with adventure around every corner. The author Elizabeth Goddard has done an outstanding job with this well written book. I am never disappointed with her work. Jonna leaves Miami and law enforcement behind after being shot and left for dead. She finds herself running an inn in stormy Washington State where she thinks she has left the past behind. Ian a suspicious guest at the inn is secretly guarding her because his uncle her former boss has intel that she may be in danger. Read this amazing book to follow the action that has found Jonna.
"Stormy Haven" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. Jonna left law enforcement when she was shot and left for dead during an investigation. She decided to "disappear" by retiring and moving away before anyone but her boss knew that she was still alive. But someone is trying to kill her again, and she's not going to run away this time!
Ian retired as a bodyguard when he failed to protect a client whom he'd come to love. When his uncle hears some criminal chatter mentioning his former agent, he hires Ian to secretly watch over Jonna. Protecting someone is difficult enough when they cooperate, but Jonna insists on being in the middle of the investigation...and the chases.
The suspense came from repeated and frequent attacks on Jonna. I understood why she didn't want to simply hide and wait. I liked that some of the attacks used her desire to be proactive to draw her and Ian into danger. Poor Ian had a hard job keeping them both alive, though Jonna worked with him as much as possible as long as she got to be a part of the action.
They both admired and were attracted to the other. Still, they both rejected the idea of a relationship together...until the end, when Ian jumps to "I want to marry you" after only knowing Jonna a few weeks. They got along well and made a good team, but that was a bit quick.
The main characters occasionally prayed. Ian needed to forgive himself for past mistakes. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable and exciting novel. Love the book cover, too.
I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
I love LIS books that involve storms! I mean look at the cover. Creepy and atmospheric. Love it! I enjoyed this book enough to read it in one sitting. One small complaint of sorts and it's really a LIS thing and not a spoiler because this is pretty much every LIS, they get engaged at the end before even going on one date. Got engaged and then set their first date. Who does that?! Only in LIS world lol
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Stormy Haven. This is the second book in the Coldwater Bay Intrigue Series. I so enjoy Elizabeth's books. I've been a fan of hers for a long, long time. I'm always thrilled to get one of her books in the mail. This book is no exception; it's awesome. The story is well written, action packed, and full of intrigue. Faith is interwoven through out the story like a fine tapestry. I know you are going to love it.
Ex-ICE Agent Jonna Strand is out jogging in the middle of a winter storm in Washington. She now runs a lodge where people can come and watch the storms move in and out of the bay. As she is jogging she is attacked. Is this the serial killer that has been attacking women in the area or is this a man from her past. She had been in Homeland Security Investigations as a special agent. She walked away after being beaten and left for dead three years ago; unable to remember the details of the attack. Has the man who tried to kill her found her? Who is this man that rescued her?
Ian Brady has been hired by Jonna's former boss, his uncle, to be her bodyguard but he must keep it a secret. Ian's uncle had heard Jonna's name being threatened and needs to know she will be safe. Can he find out who is after her without revealing why he is there. What can she know that these men want to kill her?
A journey of two souls who have given up their careers through trauma and have started over. They must learn to forget the past, trust each other, and rely on God. God has a plan for these two, a good plan and not for evil. God has a plan for you too; a plan for a hope and a future. Give Him your heart and watch Him work through your storm
Someone is trying to kill Jonna Strand. She has experienced too many close calls lately. Is this someone from her past when she was an agent for the Homeland Security Investigation Division? Or could this possibly be the Shoreline killer who has abducted and murdered five women in the past six months? Jonna is still working on getting over being shot and left for dead in a marsh in Florida three years ago. All she wants is some peace and to forget about her near death experience in Florida.
Ian Brady is a private security consultant and formerly was with the US Diplomatic Security Services Agency. His uncle and Jonna's former boss, Gil Reeves hires Ian to secretly protect Jonna after her name came up in some intelligence chatter. Gil tells Ian that this is an undercover assignment and not to let Jonna know why he is at her lodge. He heads to Jonna's Oceanview Lodge in Windsurf, Washington not even imagining how dangerous this job will be, both for his life and his heart.
Stormy Haven is author Elizabeth Goddard's second book in her Coldwater Bay series. This is a true rollercoaster ride of a suspense story. There are so many twists & turns and ups & downs that the book is sure to keep all readers turning the pages until the end. Elizabeth Goddard's pace in this story is fast but just right. Her characters are deeply drawn and pull you in. I'm ready to take another ride with this author in the next book in this series.
A fantastic heart-pounding romantic suspense novel!
Both Jonna and Ian are incredibly strong and courageous. They face danger at every turn. This book is packed with twists and turns so that means it is packed with danger. They each have a lot of baggage from their pasts. It is all related to their jobs and it makes it hard to go back to the dangerous situations that they are now having to face together. The biggest decision they have to deal with individually is whether they can trust each other or not.
I love the setting for most of this book. The lodge on the cliff in northwestern Washington and the winter storms that keep taking place are perfect for this story. It really adds to the feeling of danger and helped to get my heart racing.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.

“Stormy Haven” by Elizabeth Goddard is a very suspenseful, riveting novel which takes place in Washington State. Jonna is the owner of an inn which caters to guests who enjoy watching the storms that plague the Pacific coast. Jonna is a former Homeland Security agent who was shot and left for dead a few years previously thinking that she would just take advantage of that. She received a call from her former boss saying that her name had come up again. Not knowing exactly what that meant, she went about her life. Jogging early one stormy morning, she notices a man keeping pace with her and become apprehensive. When he accosts her and she thinks she is going to be killed, Ian Brady comes to her aid. He must now keep Jonna safe without her knowing that he has been sent undercover to protect her. Someone is out to get her and consequently kill him too. Jonna and Ian have to discover who is after them and try to stay alive when they do.
This was a very good book, and although a short one, kept my interest with constant incidents of danger. Very good book. You can find this review on my blog at https://wp.me/p2pjIt-vd, and other reviews on my blog at http://imhookedonbooks.wordpress.com.
This was a good one. Ian has been sent by his uncle to keep watch over Jonna. The problem is, she doesnt' know it and he is supposed to keep it a secret. I really liked how the author did her descriptions. Jonna is not a damsel in distress, but a competent former agent. She doesn't know exactly why she is being targeted but she is done hiding.
Ian is a strong man with his own past and issues to overcome. Jonna is his mission and more. Even if he hadn't been sent, he would have protected her anyway. That is just the kind of man he was. I really liked that his uncle was protective of Joanna too. The story itself was good, pulling you along.
It was a 4/5 for me. I enjoyed the read.
Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
Suspense! Danger! When I see the name Elizabeth Goddard, I know I will enjoy the book! The book started out with action and it never ends! Jonna Stand is an excellent protagonist who left her Miami job as a Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent after being shot and left for dead in a marsh and now runs a lodge in the state of Washington. Jonna is not aware that lodge guest Ian Brady has been hired by Jonna's former boss to protect her. Jonna is sure she can take care of herself even after she is shot at so Ian has his hands full! I recommend Stormy Haven to anyone who enjoys suspense. I won my copy of Storm Haven by Elizabeth Goddard in a Suspense Sisters Giveaway. This is my honest opinion.
Someone is trying hard to kill, Jonna. Is it the Shoreline Killer or someone from her past? Ian is a guest at her lodge but really was hired by his uncle, her former boss, to protect her. The story has a lot of questions to be answered and brings the two of them together to overcome the various dangers. The description of the lodge and the waves breaking on the rocks painted a beautiful picture and I wished I could see it in person. An interesting story with likable characters.
This was such a fast paced story that I found myself falling into without wanting to get out of. I loved the twists and turns. I loved the romance that was brewing between Jonna and Ian. I loved following along as they were trying to figure out who was trying to get her and why. I loved that there was so much going on that it was easy to get hooked and harder to put down. Overall pretty good mystery suspense novel.
this is a page turner of a story. someone is after her but who, is it the killer from the area or someone from her past? someone tried to kill her before but see does not know who, she left and move to the west coast. He was sent to protect her but she does not know it. he saves her several times now he must tell her what he know and hope she will trust him. if you like suspense and romance you will like this book
This was a good and fast paced book. But one thing bothered me about The lady, why do authors think that to be a strong independent woman a person has to be ignorant and bullheaded. This woman has no common sense. She didn't care who she hurt as long as she could have everything her way. So many authors make this same mistake. The outline of the story was great, but I couldn't like the lady in the story.
This was a great read. Exciting opening and a fun premise of Jonna owing a storm lodge(didn’t know that was a thing but it’s super cool. I would love to go there!). I liked the fact that there were two possibilities of who the culprit could be even though one was a much more logical choice. But that element did give the story a little bit of added drama. I really liked Ian’s character. He was a perfect hero in the book. Looking forward to Cora’s story next!
Oh such a spine tingling ride! The setting was amazing – I could see the storms and cliffs on the beach as if I was there. I felt the adrenaline rush every time they were running for their lives. The sparks and chemistry were perfect for the situation and I was cheering for these two by the end! Another fabulous suspense from this author! Bookshelf keeper
Want to read a heart stopping, pulse racing , suspense thriller, that will keep you guessing to the very end. This book is for you. In addition I fell in love with Jonna and Ian. I hope I will get to read more of them in the books to come. I also loved the Inspirational thread in the book as well.
Jonna and Ian are great characters who struggle yo overcome past failures and experiences. This us fast paced and full if action to keep you reading. I loved it!
