As a teenager, Dalton Jakoby made Tank an offer-one Tank turned down gently. It was still embarrassing as hell, so when Tank returns to the Jakoby Rodeo Company after a big-time bull riding tour, Dalton decides polite but distant is the best course of action.

Tank is hurting from some tough injuries and ready for a lighter workload. He's also ready to admit Dalton is an adult now, one he wants to get to know much better. While Dalton's past makes him suspicious of Tank's attention, he can't stay standoffish for long... not with Tank.

The new romance burns hot, but problems inside and outside the arena threaten what Tank and Dalton might have together.

Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her hounds and her beloved wife, texting her grandbabies, and eating Mexican food. Following their own personal joys, BA and Julia heard the call of the high desert and they now live in the New Mexico mountains. BA's personal saviors include her wife, her best friends, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.

Having written everything from fist-fighting rednecks to cowboy daddies to werewolves, BA does her damnedest to tell the stories of her heart, which is committed to giving everyone their happily ever after. With books ranging from hard-hitting BDSM, to fiery passions, to the most traditional of love stories, BA refuses to be pigeon-holed by anyone but the voices in her head.

26% was enough.

I've got no idea how authentic the vernucular but the reading this felt exhausting. The narrative is also choppy meaning at times you've got to think whose viewpoint it is and where/what is happening. So many characters introduced from page one I felt dropped in the middle of a series.
But fuck-a-doodle there was a squirmy feel to Tanks thoughts of Dalton's tight little body and when they eventually started to get it on I just didn't want to read any more.

For my first time reading this author, the book was pretty good. There wasn’t anything wrong with it, and the story was interesting through the entire book. But it also didn’t wow me the way I hoped and thought it would. The writing was a little odd to me at times, kind of stilted in places. There were a lot of starts and stops, almost as if the author was writing out random thoughts and not translating them into completely formed sentences. But, I do think it also might have been deliberate and something to do with how the characters talked and communicated to each other as well. They didn’t seem to follow through and formulate some of their thoughts and remarks to each other, just saying some quick words. And I did also like the premise, the storyline and the characters we get with this book which is why it is still getting a good rating from me. I also really appreciated the use of all the somewhat corny and funny western type phrases the author used. I found myself laughing at them and they really made this book stand out more to me.

Cowboys... Do I need to say more?!?

Tank and Dalton have a past, Tank rejected Dalton when they were younger. But now that Dalton has grown up some, Tank finally realizes that Dalton is exactly what he wants and needs and is determined to not let the past rule their future together. These two have some amazingly hot chemistry when they get together. This book is cute and it was fun getting to know all of the characters and their personalities. I loved that we got to see all different sides to this story. We get to see these men at the rodeo with their friends and at home with their families. And Dalton’s obvious bond with his twin Dustin was a fantastic addition to this book. But, omg I was super nervous when we first got to see glimpses of Dalton's creepy ex, I just knew he was going to cause some sort of drama or issues at some point. But was happy to see they could all overcome what happens and move past the trouble and events towards the end of this book. I was not prepared for it and that part really had my heart racing. Dalton’s ex is an evil horrible man.

And finally, I don’t think this is a series per-se but I really hope we get a book for Dustin (Dalton’s twin) as well. I really want to know more about him and to see him get an HEA as well.

The Jacoby Rodeo Company was a small scale family business with a loyal crew. All are accepted, and bigots were not welcome, as we see. We begin with a slice of what the smaller rodeo issues are and how they handle it. As for our men, Dalton and Tank have wanted each other for a long while, when Dalton was a teen. Now he's a full grown adult and Tank notices that when he comes back from rehabbing his injury. It's time. No more doubt or hesitation.
* Dalton Jakoby, blonde, blue eyed, just like his twin Dustin,

all lean muscles and a few scars.
* Tank, Thomas, is a bullfighter (rodeo clown) is solid,

stocky, and big muscled. He invites Dalton to take his break with him.

Their time off is fun, easy going, and super hot. Their sexy times are passion filled, emotional and sizzling. Both men have waited for each other since Dalton was a teen.
We have a worry about an ex of Dalton's who is up to no good.

Meanwhile, we watch them with family, friends and events. Later when violence strikes, the rodeo men and family are there, and we do get justice served.

It's a marvelous rodeo M/M romance, with devotion and dedication all around them.
ENJOY !

Cowboys! Need I say more? And this bunch is especially hot, funny, competitive, loyal to their friends, and no BS allowed. The Jakoby Rodeo Company is not just a family outfit but also special in other ways: like the title promises, it is rainbow friendly. Of course there are issues, especially when bigoted outsiders try to be nasty, but with a pretty tight, if somewhat crazy, group of family members at its center, it is basically safe. The two main characters have history, but not one that ended well the last time round. So when Tank returns years after he had to turn down sixteen-year-old Dalton when he was twenty-one, it is time for a new beginning.

I’m a B. A. Tortuga fan. I love cowboy stories and hers always make me happy. Tank is one of my favorite characters. He’s super masculine and super loving. He was a perfect match for Dalton. The Jakob’s family rodeo was a fun place to visit. I would love to visit them again for Dustin’s story.

This book had almost no conflict. Instead, the reader is treated to the day-to-day life of traveling rodeo cowboys who have sex with each other. Plenty of grocery store trips and days at the pool with the actual conflict or what I'd consider to be the plot sprinkled so lightly as to almost be nonexistent. I occasionally enjoy indulgent, fluffy reads, but I wanted more from this.

Additionally, having just finished a different (slightly better) BA Tortuga book, I've noticed that the author has some writing habits and a general style that serves to make all of her characters sound like the same person, such as all using the exact same turns of phrase. Two examples that come to mind: "fuck-a-doodle-doo" and "tight little body." Both of those make me cringe for different reasons. It does make everything feel Texan, I guess (having never spent time in Texas), but everyone also feel like the same character.

BA Tortuga also has the habit of throwing in about 50 characters who are named but not that important. Multiple times when reading "Stakeouts and Stetsons," I wondered if I had started in the middle of the series because there were a whole cast of characters it seemed like I was expected to be familiar with. When starting this novel, characters were tossed about in the same way, but I knew what to expect going in.

After the last book I read from this author, I was a bit worried that this one was going to be more sex than substance. I’m happy to say that that isn’t the case. It was a pretty decent rodeo story. More slice of life than anything else. It wasn’t until toward the end that anything really bad happened. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I really hope she writes a future book about Dalton’s brother Darius.

I always like Tortuga's books. This one had great family dynamics, sweaty sexy times, characters dealing with trauma, and interesting rodeo management world building.

So...this was an interesting book. When I started reading it I kept wondering if I had stepped into the middle of a series without realizing it. Lots of characters to keep up with and they didn't always get introductions or explanations. The writing is choppy and I almost threw in the towel a couple times in the beginning but am glad I stuck with it.

The author includes a lot of detail that don't really do anything to move the story along but def add ambiance-you really get a feel for their life. I really wanted the author to do more with the past the two men shared but that hurdle was jumped pretty quick and the two slide into a relationship fairly early in the story so no drama there. Mostly the drama comes from exes and ohs. Both characters are likable, Dalton and his twin are very sweethearts, and so is Tank, I guess he's supposed to be gruff and older but other than feeling his age, he doesn't seem much older. He did use 'honey' a lot which came across as campy almost, until he changed over to 'baby' later in the book. But I can say, the steam factor is high and salvaged a lot of the story for me. Mmmhmm!

Overall a 3.5 star read, and I hope Dustin (Bubba) gets his own story!

Tank gently turned down sixteen-year-old Dalton Jakoby when he was twenty one because he felt it was the right thing to do. He left and became a big name bull rider. Now with an injury, he comes back to help on the Jakoby crew. Dalton has grown up nicely and still shows interest in Tank. Soon it is obvious that feelings from the past from both men are still there and stronger. But ex's from both men's past show up. Will they grow in a relationship or will the past tear them apart?
I love me some BA Tortuga cowboys, especially the rodeo stories. each is gripping, unique and hot and this one didn't disappoint. As a matter of fact, I devoured it in one night!
Every single character is awesome. I loved the connection between Dalton and his twin. I loved his father, mother, sisters and all of the friends. The build of their new romance was great, not too fast but not too slow and smoking hot!
There is enough tension from the dangers of the rodeo, the new roles the boys are taking and then toss in the showing up of Tanks ex Buik and his friends. But wait! It gets better. There is a very scary twist that took my breath away and nearly made me cry!
So If you like May-December, second-chance, cowboys, rodeos, lots of action, a fast-paced story, some twists and of course some hot man-sex you will love this.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review

Rating: 4.5 stars out of 5

From that review: " Trust me, there is nothing finer than frog hair as when BA Tortuga combines romance with cowboys and rodeo, two of her absolute loves.  Then place these men and their search for a HEA in Texas where the sun beats hot, the salsa even hotter, and the bulls are both reviled and heroic, and you know that BA Tortuga is at home.  Her characters will talk, move, love across the page with cowboy and redneck oozing from their personalities at a cellular level."

Coming back home

Tank left the Jakoby rodeo behind several years ago but know he is back. The place feels like the only place he has ever really called home and now he sees Dalton Jakoby is all grown up. Dalton once had a crush and the older cowboy. Now that the man is back he just hopes he sees that Dalton isn’t a kid anymore. These two cowboys are like sweet fire and their chemistry Burns hot. This was a great book. I loved how their relationship grew from their instant reconnection into something real, lasting, and fierce. And the rodeo company is one big family that looks out for their own.

Rodeo setting - years after a young Dalton set his hat at the older Tank and was declined Tank returns to the Jakoby rodeo and the fledgling 'romance' rekindles - willingly, on both sides. In the interim both have had partners, some relationships ending less well than others and there is a simmering disquiet about one of Dalton's that erupts towatrds the end.

A pleasant read, even for those of us not versed in rodeo matters.

The book was a little confusing and slow to start. I kept putting it down and reading other books and trying again. Finally it was like poof! And the story got going. I really enjoyed the rest of the story thoroughly. It had great supporting characters. It would be a good jumping off point for a series due to the multitude of supporting characters. Would be nice to know if Dustin finds a HEA, along with Buick and Deb. There are 5 total siblings, so 4 more could have stories. Would be nice. I also enjoyed the multitude of graphic sex scenes. I recently read a couple of more recent releases and they almost seemed like clean romances. So glad to get back to the good stuff. I enjoy the caring that Tank shows to Dalton when they have sex/make love. They both care and try so hard to make it good for the other. I enjoyed their trip to Estes Park. I went there a couple of times when I was young, good to see it in a book. I highly recommend this author. I’m a recent Tortuga convert, a few months old. She has a style about her that draws me into her stories. I feel compelled to read and read a book cause I can’t put it down. Then I’m sad that it’s done. I also recommend this book and encourage others to read past the first 30% of the book. It’s a slow start but gets much better.

Rainbow Rodeo
B.A. Tortuga

This author tends to like describing her gay cowboys’ rolls in the hay. We have here another case of a pair hot for one another but neither sure of the other’s present interests.

There really is a Beau Joes and they call one of the pizza selections Mountain Pies.

Just past the quarter point of the story the action heats up. According to the romance formula after the initial coupling they will encounter a crisis point and the resolution is often rather perfunctory leading to an abrupt HEA. Make-up sex is the greatest.

How much older Tank is than Dalton is not immediately made clear. Around the age of puberty and young adult social strata are rather rigid.

Alas the last 3/4 of the book are all about the exchange of bodily fluids.

I love the premises that Dalton had feelings for a while but Tank was a good guy and didn't take the bait. But now time has passed and they are two grown men who can take their chances. There is lots of growing feelings and some dramatic moments. This story starts out feeling like it will be a light story but it takes a turn. The family is also wonderful. Great story.

I do like a bit more of a plot and whilst there was the spectre of a couple of ex's in there, the one that did become malicious was almost an anticlimax - unlike Tank and Dalton who had lots!!
A little bit too 'little person/big person' for me, and any rodeo action was off page so a bit disappointed there.
lots of family connections for those that like real and made family groups

RAINBOW RODEO by BA Tortuga is about Dalton Jakoby and Tank Martin. Dalton had had a crush on Tank years ago, and the older cowboy let him down gently. Now he’s all grown up, and maybe there’s something there to be explored.

Loved the Jakoby family, who runs a rodeo, and the friends they have. An entertaining read.

Rainbow Rodeo is good romance between younger Dalton and older Tank. I was drawn into their story, but found plot a bit empty and way to full of sex scenes between MC.

A bit too heavy on the sex, but this is a good story, right to the dramatic climax. Not sure I can believe there are so many gay rodeo cowboys, but hey, it's fiction. Entertaining, and very much in this author's style.

Interesting read - lots of cowboy/rodeo words that went over my head but a lot of talk about food which I enjoyed (had to Google Beau Jo's - I definitely want to try that!).

I like the family loyalty and Jakoby twin talk. :)

Nothing like a sizzling cowboy romance to heat up a long summer’s night.

Dalton Jakoby remembers quite well the night Tank Martin gently but firmly turned him down. Yes he had been young and foolish which had made living with his twin brother’s heckling even more embarrassing. But when Tank shows back up at their family’s rodeo business nearly eight years later he still remembered that voice. Dalton was no kid any more and Tank knew it. He was a bit afraid that Dalton might be the one to return the favor and tell him no but he had to try. When both men finally agree that they want each other it is more than good. But both their pasts seem to want to turn up and make it a problem for them to try for something a bit more lasting. Can these two rodeo cowboys put their pasts behind them and try for a future together?

I loved the twin dynamic of Dalton and Dustin. I’ve seen identical twins like them before. They know, without even saying anything, what the other is thinking or wants. And these two boys would do anything for their brother. Add in Deb, their older sister, and that clan is tight. I loved that Tank knew this and wanted in still. He knew who he wanted and it was all Dalton. Where others might mistake one of the identical twins for the other he always knew who and where his Dalton was.

I thought that I was going to dislike Buick, Tank’s friend with benefits. He seemed to be eager to get Tank back. But I enjoyed seeing him realize that Dalton was what his buddy needed and had each of their backs. You don’t mess with rodeo cowboys. They are a loyal and protective group. As for Rocket, that man could be left staked out naked in the hot Texas sun for the vermin to take care of him! That might have been a easier death than if Dustin, Deb and Buick ever got their hands on him…let alone Momma!

I also really enjoyed seeing a rodeo group that was LGBTQ friendly. That was a wonderful treat to see. Denver Jakoby brought the sense of security and freedom to those in his rodeo. A person could love on who they loved and it was accepted and embraced.

I know that this shows as a stand-alone however I could totally see this becoming a series. I would love to see who Dustin winds up with. Plus Deb and Buick too. There were actually a whole group of cowboys looking for something special.

All in all, this was a wonderful, fast paced book that I really enjoyed and couldn’t set down. If you are into gay cowboys and the rodeo circuit that’s this book will bring a smile to you face.
