All for You

Rate this book
The only path to happiness is freedom: the freedom to live-and love-as the heart wants. Claiming that freedom will take all the courage one young man has… but he won't have to face it alone.

In small, conservative Sierra Pines, California, Reverend Gabriel is the law. His son, Willy, follows his dictates… until he meets a man in Sacramento, and then reunites with him in his hometown-right under his father's nose.

Reggie is Sierra Pines's newly appointed sheriff. His dedication to the job means not flaunting his sexuality, but when he sees Willy again, he can't escape the feeling that they're meant to be together. He'll keep Willy's secret until Willy is ready to let the world see who he really is. But if going up against the church and the townspeople isn't enough, the perils of the work Reggie loves so much might mean the end of their romance before it even gets off the ground....

The blurb is very clear, and doesn't need a rehash.

Reggie meets up with his three best friends, Casey, Vick, and Bobby, in Sacramento and ends up meeting Willy, an obvious newbie and helps him out of a jam. Soon after returning home to Sierra Pines Reggie, the new Sheriff, is introduced to Reverend Gabriel and his son, Willy.

They're both shocked, but soon end up hanging out with one another, followed by quietly dating. Willy isn't ready to come out yet, and while Reggie is certainly not in the closet (his bosses, etc. know), he's not made his sexuality known in town, and the two make sure to be careful being seen together.

When it looks like Reggie might be outed, Willy panics, because he knows that could mean the end of their relationship, especially if his father has anything to do with it. All Reggie can do is be there for Willy in whatever way he needs and hope they can hold on to each other.

I loved this story. All for You is now hands-down my favorite Andrew Grey book...so far. I don't really know why, but it just made me feel good, and I loved the characters, and I loved the ending. Told in a dual POV, there's some steamy bits, but mostly I found All for You to be a really sweet, low angst romance, with a very happy ending, and the potential (hopefully) to turn into a series.

As this story proves, the courage to be who you are is not always easy to find. Willy is young, still living with his parents, and keenly feels the restrictions his father, a very religious reverend, places on him. Reggie is a little older and seems to be free, but as it turns out, the restrictions he has placed on himself can be just as much of an obstacle to being himself as any external limits. Luckily they find each other and can travel the path to freedom together – which may sound good but actually makes some things even more difficult once their emotions get involved. Secrets, past events, current bullies, and potential criminal activity all interfere with Willy and Reggie’s goal of being happy.

From this book although I read 50-50 i.e Italian or English (depends on who is the translator) I am going to write only English reviews for Andrew Grey's books.

Those are not true reviews but only my thought about the book.

As always another masterpiece. I can't wait for next one. 💖

I loved All for You by Andrew Grey. It reminded me of the Carlisle Cops and Carlisle Deputies series which I love to read. It was well written with a great storyline and wonderful vibrant characters and supporting characters. The pace of the book was steady, but it kept my attention and had me reading well into the night to find out what happened in the end. I couldn’t get enough of it. It had all of the elements to it that I have come to expect from an Andrew Grey book. I laughed, I cried, I screamed at some of the people, and I loved the chemistry between Reggie and Willy.

I loved Reggie. He’s Sierra Pines’ newest appointed sheriff, and his dedication to his job means not flaunting his sexuality, but that doesn’t mean that he will deny his sexuality if questioned. He’s been appointed as sheriff to clean up the corruption in the small town, but first, he has to wrestle control of the town away from Reverend Gabriel, which could lead to a huge power struggle if Reggie doesn’t do it just right. I loved how he was able to use the rules of Reverend Gabriel’s faith to get his way instead of using threats like the Reverend Gabriel does. I also loved that he wasn’t intimidated by the mayor or the board or anybody else in a position of power. And I loved how he cleaned up the corruption in his own department, all while having a closeted relationship with the Reverend’s son, Willy.

I loved Willy. He’s young and a little inexperienced. He got a taste of freedom when he went away to college, but all of that went away when he returned home. He may be over twenty, but he still lives at home under the rule of his father. A father that used to be fun-loving and a joy to be around, but an accident in the family resulting in the death of a sibling changes the Reverend into a cold, unfeeling control freak with a short temper. Somebody that the whole family is afraid of. I loved when Willy and Reggie meet for the first time in Sacramento and Reggie saves Willy from some bullies and doesn’t take advantage of him when Willy offers to hook up with him. I loved that he was a gentleman even if he was kicking himself later. I loved watching Willy gain confidence and become a strong individual from being around Reggie. I also loved the ending of the book and that everybody gets their HEA.

Overall, another great book by Andrew Grey that I would recommend to everybody.

Reggie is the new Sherriff in Sierra Pines. He meets a young man out of town and runs interference for him in a bar but is surprised to see him in his office with his father Reverend Gabriel, who seems to run the town.
Reggie was appointed to the sheriff's office to clean up after a dirty sheriff and he has his work cut out. Some things don't add up with one of the deputies but he can't fire him without proof.
Willie shows up and they slowly become friends, though Willie wants more. Reggie says they need to take things slowly. Soon things start to spiral out of control.

I loved this story. I loved all the characters especially Willie. The story has a realistic small-town feel. You can feel the tension. There is a slow burn between Reggie and Willie but it's oh so sexy.
if you like small-town drama, Sherriff's, coming out, twists and an allover good romance this is for you. I hope this is the start of a series!

This was a nice read but one of these books where I can't understand the time frame. it was not necessary to cramp all that happened within such a short time ... especially as the circumstances were so that it would have made much more sense to have a longer time period.

nevertheless, it was a nice read.

Good solid small town romance. The character interactions unfurled a bit differently than I anticipated.

Okay, all right, so one of the MCs used cooking as a courtship strategy. But he didn’t turn into Susie home maker! Just sayin’.

This book left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. It has a lot of the elements needed to make a great story and is skillfully written, but it didn't really work for me.

I believe the author wants to educate his readers and create awareness regarding the troubles still faced today by people from the LGBTQ community. Though well-intentioned he gets a bit heavy-handed in his execution, which is especially noticeable in Reggie, who does a lot of talking at Willy rather than to him, as if he's standing in front of a classroom explaining the do's and don'ts of coming out & relationships. He does this at the most inopportune moments, and has a hard time letting go and enjoying the now. He isn't that much older than Willy, but acts as if he is decades further in life experience and wisdom. Willy, on the other hand, is sometimes a bit immature for his age. They don't seem to be on an even footing in that respect, so that makes it hard to understand how they would work as a couple.

Reggie is supposed to be a rising star in local law enforcement, but he shows little people management skills in the sheriff's office when he threatens one of his deputies. Admittedly the man turns out to be a crook, but Reggie has no evidence of that at that time. Bullying people, especially another bully, hardly seems the way to create a good work environment or to get people on your team to carry out their job the way you want them to.

Willy and Reggie's relationship moves very fast, they hardly have the time to get to know and like each other or even gradually acknowledge their mutual attraction. As a reader, I just didn't feel it.

Willy's decision to confront his father about certain changes in their family life and to come out to him all at once, felt too sudden to me. He also really gets up in his father's face, laying it all down in a very confrontational manner and not even trying to ease into the subject, which to me feels very out of character.

Willy's father is a really ambivalent figure. I don't feel as if grief for the loss of one child could make a loving dad turn into an abusive one to his other remaining children. And then just change back again, almost at the drop of a hat.
Other secondary characters bring more of a positive vibe to the story though, especially Willy's mom (if a bit late in the game), Mr. Webster and Jamie.

In one word, “courage” sums up All for You by Andrew Grey. Without a doubt this is one of my all-time favorite Andrew Grey stories. Courage for choosing one’s own destiny. Courage that outweighs the consequences. Courage to alter one’s beliefs. Courage that should not be necessary.

Reggie Barnett is the new sheriff in Sierra Pines, California. He is out of the closet to those close to him, but not in his professional life. He has been appointed to the position by the state. Sent to “clean up” after the previous sheriff, he is not accountable to the town’s council. In his late twenties, Reggie is a mature, handsome specimen of beefcake.

William “Willy” Thomas is the 22-year-old son of Sierra Pines’ Reverend, Gabriel Thomas. Living under his father’s roof, Willy is bound to strict religious beliefs. These beliefs shifted and intensified for the worse after tragedy struck the family. He is a deeply closeted virgin living in fear of discovery. With a strong sense of family he is truly struggling in his current environment.

During a night on the town, Reggie meets his college buddies Casey, Vick, and Bobby, at a gay bar in Sacramento. An obvious first timer to the bar scene runs into a bit of trouble, and Reggie intervenes, providing guidance and heartfelt words of advice. Man, I just love the way Reggie treats Willy, right from this moment on. What might be patronizing, is nothing of the sort, but true support and understanding.

Back in Sierra Pines, Reggie is introduced to Reverend Gabriel and his son – you guessed it – Willy. Uh Oh! Sensing the need for discretion, Reggie plays it cool and the encounter appears to be a first-time meeting. See, the reverend believes he has pull within the town and intends to influence Reggie’s actions and religious beliefs. Well, the good reverend has met his match!

Of course Reggie and Willy act upon their attraction despite the pitfalls and landmines in their path. Each man struggles with the tug and pull between reality and what the heart wants; even with the intense attraction and potential for heartache, Reggie never pushes Willy. Again, the tenderness and support from the macho sheriff is amazing.

As the town gossip heats up and the town trash is put to the curb, their feelings intensify. The heart wants what the heart wants. Fears are brought to the surface, addressed, and beliefs are altered. Does everyone change? Of course not, but what matters most is the change enacted by those directly involved.

I am not sure how to put my finger on what captivated me so much with All for You. There’s not a lot of complicated drama. There isn’t a bunch of angst, okay a little. The plot is straight forward and realistic. However, there is an abundance of heart. There is tension depicting real life values and feelings. There is an uncanny amount of self-introspection with the ability to adjust one’s personal beliefs and values. There is a powerful message hidden in these pages: It is not often easy to find the courage to be oneself, but the rewards are limitless when said courage is obtained.

4 – 4-.5 Stars

All for You is another great read from Andrew Grey! I always know when I pick up one of his books I won’t be disappointed and this book is a great example of why I love his words and characters. Reggie is the new sheriff of a small town, he’s gay and he doesn’t hide it but he doesn’t necessarily advertise it either. Especially in this conservative town. Willy is the son of Reverend Gabriel, who is known for his hard beliefs and running the town, he expects people to obey, but Willy is tired of living that life. He knows he is gay but is afraid of what will happen if his father finds out. A chance meeting between Reggie and Willy leads to much more than either man ever expected, but do they stand a chance together?

I loved these characters so much, right from the start. Reggie and Willy are so very different and seem like an unlikely couple, but I loved them together. Reggie is so confident and protective, not just of Willy but the city he is supposed to protect and Willy is young and naive but he is finding his way, especially with Reggie’s strength behind him. While there is a bit of back and forth between them, it’s pretty clear to see that these two are just meant to be. I especially loved seeing Willy’s confidence grow, finally understanding who he wants to be and standing up for himself.

Andrew Grey adds a good amount of drama in this story as well as Reggie, and Willy, try to find out some of the darker things happening in their small community. I enjoyed following that side of the story as well! A great read that showcases the power of love!

Reggie is the new sheriff in Sierra Pines, California. His predecessor got taken out of office for the ways he was running things and Reggie got put in charge. However a reverend that's there named Gabriel thinks he is commander of the town but he is not and he gets put in his place quick which I really like especially since she was trying to control his son Willy.

Willy first met Reggie at a gay bar in another town. However on a Monday he runs into Reggie again when his dad shows up at the sheriff's office taking him with him demanding while Reggie was not in church trying to bully him into going. Thankfully did not work cuz Reggie was not going to take being bullied..

As a book progresses Willy and Reggie start falling for each other and Reggie's place becomes a safe haven for Willy because he's trying to come to terms with the fact that he is gay and wants to be out but is terrified of his dad and what might happen if he finds out. Things are already rough for one other guy in town that came out in a different way.

There's also a side story with human trafficking going on which I thought was a surprise for me I was not expecting that we did get a good twist in story and I was so happy at the end with the resolution that came out of that.

I was also glad that these two ended up happy end together. Including a little puppy. I will let you read to figure out what happens with Willy and his dad and the rest of the town because I really did enjoy this. Willy did a lot of growing up in this book.

Sex was great. This also my buzzword book for June.

Another Not Black-&-White But Shades of Grey Tale

Andrew Grey does it again with a sweet and somewhat cynical tale of a fairly young county sheriff Reggie (I think he's about 30) and Willy, the 22-year-old closeted son of Reverend Gabriel, the town preacher and chief morals enforcer. You can get that from the blurb.

What I liked abut this one is Andrew Grey's wonderfully detailed narrative of a pretty simple plot--not much happens that is life threatening until quite near the end. What I loved is how careful Reggie is in bringing Willy out but not forcing him to do anything that he can't do publicly or in private.

Towns like Sierra Pines exist everywhere and you can sense the tension between these two when they start of fall in love and can't quite get to the point of falling head over heels and the heck with everyone else. There is a lot of preaching here--some of it from the bitter Reverend, but a lot of it from Reggie as he brings Willy into the panorama of LBGTQ lifestyle. This worked, though it was a bit wordy at times.

Nice set-up, lovely cover, wonderful time, as always.

Contemporary stories with countryside settings and MC who have to overcome personal insecurities and to fight against the prejudice against the odds are a strong point with the author and he does them very well.

A preacher's son struggling with his sexuality and overbearing control of his father who become a tyrant after the loss of his son to an accident.
A newly appointed sheriff who needs to connect to a small community and tries to hide his sexuality to avoid alienating townspeople and his own deputies.
They can't help falling in love with each other and are struggling to survive in the atmosphere that can turn hostile if Willie's father will get his way.

I think a trafficking subplot was a bit over the top and unnecessary, but it gets resolved fairly fast and in a reasonable way.
Overall, a very enjoyable read.

Conoscenze e cambiamenti

Another great read by Andrew Grey! I have to say that this book marks the completion of my Goodreads challenge, it's the 50th book I've read this year! And what a way to complete the challenge than with a fantastic read. This book toes the line for me, having a very old-fashioned Reverend Gabriel (my favorite of the archangels, by the way, loved the shout-out) try to put a stop to his son's blossoming romance with the county Sherrif? Beautiful. This has the family drama, the eager virgin, character growth from each player and still somehow Grey managed to find the time also to put in a criminal case! Loved the book and will read again!

Finding the courage to be yourself

This is a terrific story of learning to speak up for yourself and reach out to grab love. Willy is lucky enough to meet the strong, upstanding, caring Reggie when he ventures to a gay bar outside his small town. Reggie and Willy rock each other’s worlds and then work to carve their place in it.

A delightful story about a reverends boy coming of age, discovering his first love with the local towns sheriff. The story often switching between the two. At first glance just another romance novel, but with depth and soul like no other. A complete joy to read. A must read for anyone coming out or anyone who has been jaded by the world. Truly entertaining and sweet.

Well Written

Set in a quiet country town, this story has a collection of local characters covering a range of personalities. Good character development for the MCs, and an interesting plot with avoids angst and miscommunication to deliver its resolution. Ends with a promise for the future.
