While the focus is on literacy coaching, the tools suggested and the ideas for utilizing technology to enhance coaching could be used by any type of coach. This book is a great resource.
I liked this book! At first I thought the digital tools offered were all those I already knew, and though many were, this book is valuable for its insight into what coaching can and should be and how technology can make coaching deeper and more meaningful. It was a quick read, but I took away many suggestions that I look forward to implementing with the teachers I coach. It also lays out a philosophy and model of coaching that would be very helpful for beginning coaches. Although Affinito is an elementary literacy coach and most of the examples she provides are from elementary, I found most of her tools easily applicable to secondary teachers as well. Worthwhile read to grow my skillset as a coach.
Haven’t read a professional text in awhile so this was a good reminder of the important work literacy coaches do — me and my team of amazing colleagues— and gave me some useful tips for how to prep and think about virtual coaching and PD moving forward in this unpredictable climate, while keeping best balanced literacy practices and student growth as central.
A lot of great advice. One complaint is how some of the tech tools mentioned are now no longer available (Google plus) or commonly used. An updated tech tools list through Heinemann's site would be awesome. Overall great for ideas on literacy coaching and building those relationships with teachers in order to better instruct students.
