Hiding from her ex is exhausting enough, but for Hope Drayden, putting her seven-year-old son through a life on the run and living on the streets has been mentally torturous. When a kind diner owner offers her a job, Hope begins to claw her way toward a new beginning for herself and Billy, one tip at a time. But since her son’s recent abduction, and with threats from her ex still fresh in her mind, she’s constantly looking over her shoulder. Then a surprising, and lucky, tip from a diner regular puts yet another target on their backs.

At the request of a friend, medical examiner Calder Stonewall has been looking for Hope and Billy for weeks. When they unexpectedly show up at the scene of a crime, his interest soon becomes personal. He’s amazed by the beautiful, brave woman and her resilient son. He’s also surprised by his growing need to take care of them both, although winning Hope’s trust won’t be easy. But when a tragedy thrusts the couple together, Calder quickly proves he’s a man Hope can rely on.

Which is a good thing…because she’ll need all his support, and love, to get through a threat they never saw coming.

JUSTICE FOR HOPE by Susan Stoker. This tale tells the story of Hope, Calder and Billy. Hope and Billy, mother and son, haven't had an easy go of it as of late and Calder, being the alpha male he is, does all he can to swoop in and save the day. Yet, Hope is independent and strong willed. It was enjoyable to see these two navigate their relationship and to watch Hope give in to her feelings, despite her fear. And to watch Calder recognize that he has met the One! The first half of the book moves along at a leisurely pace and we get to know each character and where their heart and mind is at. There isn't much happening except for the journey of the love story and then BAM! Ms. Stoker certainly knows how to throw a curveball to any relationship. This story has a little bit of everything - a touch of humor, sweet love, the beauty of youth and even a surprise or two along the way. Oh, and did I mention a little bit of suspense and mystery too. As seems par for the course, Ms. Stoker even made me tear up - her ability to put down in words the heartfelt emotions her characters feel simply touches my heart. I highly recommend reading JUSTICE FOR HOPE. Yes, this is book 12 of the series, but can easily be read as a standalone, although many characters from the previous books make appearances. On that note, I also encourage you to read the other stories in this series as well.

These books are still enjoyable, but honestly, they are kind of trite. It was really obvious to me who was stalking Hope. Calder is all in love with Hope, Hope is all in love with Calder but still thinking this can't be true... same old stuff. However, I still read these books every time they come out so there is something about them I enjoy.

Despite Hope and Billy in a not great situation this has a feel good feeling. I was glad that Calder was on the look out for Hope and Billy. When he stumbled across them Hope was doing better than she was last time Blythe saw her, yet there was room for improvement. I loved how Calder slowly started to insert himself into Hope and Billy's life. It gave him the foot in the door to more.

When things were able to really change for the better for Hope, Calder was right there with her. I loved how Calder gave her advice that would let Hope stand on her own feet, yet still let her know that Calder was very much still interested in her as a man.

Later when drama came up Calder once again showed how important Hope and Billy were to him. He gave them a safe place, surrounded by people that cared about them and gave good advice on ways to avoid bad people.

I loved that at the end Calder and Hope found the HEA, they deserved it!

Avid readers usually have there 'go to authors'. The author that EVERY book they put out you love. Although, admittedly there are times when there might be a book that just doesn't do it for you. It just seems "off". Thankfully for me, that has NEVER happened with Susan Stoker. EVERY book that I have read has been outstanding. The heroes are ALWAYS kick-a$$. The heroines ALWAYS have substance. And the story ALWAYS flows perfectly. Justice for Hope does not disappoint. If you've read the BoH series, then Dr. Calder Stonewall and Hope Drayden are not a mystery. They have been in the background now for a couple of books. Now we finally get their story! And it's pretty fantastic!

Dr. Stonewall has watched each of his friends find the love of their lives. A little envious, he was coming to think that would never happen for him. Until he's asked to find a homeless woman and her son by a friend. Intrigued by her description and circumstances, he's eager to find and help this woman get back on her feet. Little did he know that by doing that, she was going to knock him off of his.

Hope Drayden is finally getting her life back together. After escaping from an abusive ex, having her son kidnapped by a madman, she has picked herself up by her bootstraps and getting her life back on track. That is until she and her son run across a situation that puts her right in Dr. Calder Stonewall's path. He says he wants to help but she's learned the hard way that law enforcement doesn't always hold up the laws. Will Calder be able to earn Hope's trust and finally have the HEA that his friends have?

The great thing about Justice for Hope is that it's a slow build. The anticipation rises with each chapter you read. You get to fall in love with the characters and visit with old friends. Ms. Stoker once again shows her wonderful ability to spin a tale that is heartfelt with touches of excitement and enough steam to keep the reader hooked until the last page. I love this book. I love this author. I bet you would too. This book is awesome. The series even better. This is an author you want to have on you 1click list. Add her. You will come to thank me.

I knew I would like this book! Hope has had a hard life. She is a single mom, no family, no help from her sons father and she has a ex that is a cop that she is in hiding from. She has been living on the streets (you may remember 😉 from other books) but her life is coming together now. She has a job in a diner with an owner who has basically adopted Hope and her son. This is when medical examiner Calder Stonewall finds her. He wants to help her and protect her. Its kinda insta love for him. Hope has a lot of trust issues because of her past but nothing like a bit of drama lottery winning, a fire and kidnapping to show you, who you can count on.

Take the Cinderella trope mixed with It Could Happen to You all with a darker edge and you have Hope Drayden's story. Grief, pain, struggle...there's only so much you can take when you're on the run. But Hope has her little boy with her and she's determined to survive for him. When she meets Calder Stonewall she's reluctant to trust him. He's law enforcement, big, awkward, imposing...and yet she's surprised to find that her son and a small part of her soul trusts him. Calder is determined to create a place for himself in her life, to support, encourage, and to love her. But an unknown enemy threatens everything they're building.

Calder has a quiet strength about him that I enjoyed quite a lot. I found his bumbling endearing when he would overshare, babble, or say those slightly disturbing things that didn't make it through the filter. I would have liked it if his endearing quirks were consistently present throughout the story instead of pretty much ending right after he shows up at the diner. Most things go away with the ease of comfort he finds with more time with Hope but the things that made him so very unique seemed to be lost and set aside in favor of his declarations of intention. I loved that he wore his heart so clearly on his sleeve for Hope, and especially Billy, but in and amongst all those heartfelt, direct, fierce statements I wanted a little more of his brand of unique.

Hope was straightforward in her character. A fierce mother, a kind mother, an alluring woman with a spine of steel and an open heart. I'm glad she wasn't so determined to do everything on her own that it was to her detriment, that she didn't allow her stubborn will to usurp her good sense. Because when she opened her mind she also opened her world to the amazing community Calder brought with him. That when she needed help in a big way, she had friends and adopted family at her back and in her corner.

While the dramatic element was expected, the villain was not. It was a surprise that both dropped the severity of the moment while at the same time making it scarier. When we don't have a name for the enemy it has you jumping at any and all shadows and threats. The resolution was sweet and triumphant. Where family is everything, this story made sure to keep that love as a focus throughout. Love, healing, relief, support...when you have a family surrounding you with those things what you really find is freedom.

5 Sweet, Heart-Warming Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

Calder Stonewall was determined to gain the trust of Hope Drayden; now he’d found her, he had no intentions of letting her slip through his fingers. Can Hope let Calder in to protect her, or will her instinct to run, destroy their chance at happiness.

Another captivating, brilliant book from Susan Stoker; I seriously love her writing and can never get enough. Another great story and more characters for me to love and adore. I honestly feel, Susan Stokers characters are like family. They take a hold of my heart and never leave; thankfully I have enough love to go around for everyone.

I adored both Calder and Hope, both characters were strong, caring, loving and always put the care of others before their own wants, and needs. Calder did everything he could to care for, and support Hope, he would do everything in his power to protect her, and her son. Hope felt like a burden, and it took some convincing to get her to see how deep his feelings for her ran.

Justice for Hope is a story that shows, optimism, love, happiness and reminds us to never give up. It also shows the extent some people will go, to destroy a person’s happiness, and that as long as we are open, and honest, they will never come between you and the person you love.

Justice for Hope is a wonderfully sweet, heart-warming romance, that will leave your heart bursting with love and your eyes streaming with happy tears.

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

I have been dying to read this book since I read Shelter For Blythe and I have to confess, Susan Stoker just gets more spectacular with each new release! Justice For Hope was one sweet as pie, tender, passionate and utterly dreamy romance with just a smidgen of suspense. Exactly what I adore with a Susan Stoker read!

I really liked Hope. I admired her strength and her will and her independence. And Calder is one of my top favorite heroes! He is handsome, kind, patient, caring and so incredibly romantic. His protective streak made me swoon and how he treats Hope and Billy made me tear up. This story gave me such FEELS! It was SO what I needed to read. Susan Stoker ALWAYS delivers THE PERFECT ROMANCE with some of the BEST heroes imaginable and VERY LIKABLE heroines too. You just can't get anything more satisfying than a romantic suspense by Miss Susan Stoker. Once you pick up Justice For Hope you will be ALL IN from start to the very finish and still crave MORE.

Justice For Hope gets a ROMANTIC AND SUGARY SWEET FIVE GLORIOUS STARS!

Homeless after leaving her abusive ex, Hope Drayden made her first appearance in Justice for Milena, when her son was kidnapped by an evil killer. Since then, she's found a job at a diner and is working her way back up after hitting rock bottom. She doesn't need help from anyone, and isn't ready to trust anyone, even if medical examiner Calder Stonewell is a friend of a friend. Calder persists, befriending her son and doing what he can to help Hope, especially after her son Billy is kidnapped again.

There's a clever misdirect on who the villain really is, and what happens to Billy after he's kidnapped, as well as nice relationship growth between Hope, Calder, and Billy. Overall a very good book.

Justice for Hope was more Happiness for Hope and Billy and really the Justice part was all about Billy oh who am I kidding this story was totally about Billy, there was no Hope and Calder in it at all..... lol

Action packed and with the best superhero of them all 'Billy' he saved himself, found himself a dad and found his voice again oh and his Mom Hope was along for the ride to....

This story was fantastic, I love how Calder never gave up but he was also a total gentleman as well he knew what he wanted and he was willing to put in the time to show Hope and Billy he was truly there for them no matter what.

I have to say I also love Joseph 'Popop' as a character he is a wonderful addition to this series and I hope has visits in future stories.

M.E Calder Stonewell has been searching for Hope since Blythe’s rescue. When he stumbles upon her at a crime scene, he is determined not to lose her again. The more Calder proves he can be trusted, the closer the pair appear. When danger strikes, Calder relies on his friends and peers to help him save Hope’s son Billy. This is such a feel good book.

Hope and Blythe met each other while homeless. Once Blythe had more stability, she wanted to find Hope and her son to get them off the street. Unable to do so, she asked Calder to keep looking for them since he was volunteering to serve food at a homeless shelter. Calder was very surprised to run into them in his job as a medical examiner, when he was called to a murder scene. Their story unfolds from there. Mostly, I liked Hope and her determination to find a way to protect herself and her son after running from an abusive ex. Calder was interesting in how he was socially awkward, especially with women, and yet his goodness at heart. I enjoyed their interaction with her son Billy and with her father figure Joseph. I read the ebook. 5/5

Hope was on the verge of being too stupid to live, but fortunately she was talked out of it. Other that that moment the characters were likeable and the story was decent.

•••••••••

REVIEW: JUSTICE FOR HOPE is the twelfth instalment in Susan Stoker’s contemporary, adult BADGE OF HONOR: TEXAS HEROES romantic suspense series. This is forty-year old medical examiner Calder Stonewall, and thirty-two year old diner waitress/single mother Hope Drayden’s story line. JUSTICE FOR HOPE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Hope was first introduced in SHELTER FOR BLYTHE book #11.

Told from dual third person points of view (Calder and Hope) JUSTICE FOR HOPE follows the building relationship and romance between forty-year old medical examiner Calder Stonewall, and thirty-two year old diner waitress/single mother Hope Drayden. Single mother Hope Drayden and her seven-year old Billy are on the run from an abusive ex who isn’t above threatening our story line heroine. With no friends or family to whom to turn, Hope finds herself in the town of San Antonio, Texas where she struggles to earn enough money to support her small family. Several months earlier Billy Drayden was kidnapped by pedophile Jonathan Jones, and in the ensuing time has not spoken a word or communicated verbally. But the recent death of a homeless veteran finds our heroine face to face with her future in the guise of medical examiner Calder Stonewall, a man sent to look for Hope by her friend Blythe Coopman. What ensues is the slow building relationship and romance between Hope and Calder, and the potential fall-out as jealousy and betrayal attempt to destroy Hope’s precarious hold on life.

As a waitress, Hope depends upon the generosity of customers but the jealousy of fellow co-workers threatens Hope’s hard fought need to stay one step ahead of her abusive past. Calder Stonewall has been attracted to Hope from the very start but our heroine is reluctant to trust any man with her heart as well as the safety of her son.

The relationship between Hope and Calder is slow to develop as Calder bides his time with the woman who has stolen his heart. The limited $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, many of whom cross over from the author’s other series. We are introduced to Hope’s boss, and diner owner Joseph Roberts who takes Hope’s son Billy under his wing; as well as fellow co-workers and waitresses Donna, Audrey, Hannah and Tori.

The world building focuses on the building relationship and trust between Hope and Calder, and the struggles of a single mom trying to make it on her own. Most if not all of Susan’s heroes are impossibly perfect, and the women in their lives have physical and emotional issues that have left lasting scars.

JUSTICE FOR HOPE is an engaging, entertaining and romantic storyline. The premise is touching; the romance is intimate; the characters are real and tender.

The book blurb explains it well.

<><> Characters <><>
Hero: Calder Stonewall; Age: 40; Occupation: San Antonio Medical Examiner

* The following words/phrases were used to describe Hero: assisted law enforcement in investigations by giving his insights into how victims were killed, protective, likes puzzles/mysteries, not a smooth talker when it comes to women, attended the police academy, has training and experience with pathology and toxicology, friendly, gracious, easy to be around, lonely

* The following words/phrases were used to describe Heroine: brave, single mother (seven year old son), was beat up bad by an ex (a cop) which caused her to flee a year and a half ago and end up on the streets, while living on the streets her son was abducted, son doesn’t talk since the abduction (mental reasons due to trauma of the kidnapping), exhausted, doesn’t bring attention to herself, doesn’t want to accept help, a good mom, has no contact with her parents, thoughtful, considerate, has a college degree

<><> A Few Thoughts <><>

^^ ~ it was obvious to me who the bad guy was. No surprise when it was revealed

^^ ~ Hope does the thing I HATE most…..thinks it’s better to run from a problem rather than stand your ground, enlist the help of your awesome new friends and fight for your new life. Ugh - I hate it when the main character makes a plan to run to “save” the other person from getting involved. Hello…. They are already invested.!! And in this case it was double stupid because she wasn’t really thinking about what was best for her son. Clearly I got frustrated with this aspect of the story. Thankfully some smart people talked some sense into her before she did something really idiotic – like following through with her ridiculous plan.

^^ ~ I liked the way Calder didn’t talk down to Billy. He showed he would be a good dad

Oh WOW once again for this author who knows how to write a story with a man who is a protector of the woman he falls for. Calder and Hope meet when he finds her in an alley with her son, Billy. He’s been looking for her and Billy when Blythe asked everyone to find her to make sure she is safe. Hope has been living on the streets with her son after running away from her abusive ex, and now has a job as a waitress and lives in a seedy motel, but she is thankful it’s a roof over her head and she’s working to get herself and her son out of the bad situation they are in. As soon as Calder meets her, he knows she’s the one and will not give up until she is his. Calder worms his way into her heart, he’s great with Billy and Billy takes to him right away...she just has to finally let go and go for it...can he convince her ?
An amazing amazing read with steam, sensuality, funny moments, suspense and some intense moments. I LOVED these two but then again I have LOVED all of this author’s characters as they are all genuine and so real that they worm into my heart each time. Calder the handsome alpha man with his quirks and saying things that get taken the wrong way and Hope, a strong, compassionate, giving woman down on her luck, who fights for her son and wants to give him the world. At first I was a bit frustrated with Hope, her stubbornness for accepting help from Calder made me want to shake her at times, but when she finally accepts and accepts Calder, she’s all in...LOVE IT. I love how little to no drama is between them, there is enough all around them to keep the story flowing beautifully and to keep me on the edge of my seat.
I admire and love this author’s style of writing, the depth and heart she gives the characters and how no gimmicks, no over the top drama, no jealousies, no misunderstandings, enter into the story and once the two are in, they are all in to the end. Only thing I have to complain about is only 5 stars are allowed to rate it, wishing I could give more.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*

Fantastic book

I have wondered who would be Calder's woman for awhile and am.so glad that Hope and her son Billy would be the family Calder has always wanted. But with the help from the firefighters, Beth, and all the previous Badge of Honor men and women will come together and help each other.

Calder Stonewall has watched all of his friends find their lady loves so when Blythe gives him Hope and Billy's photo with hopes that he could find them. When he's sent to collect a body he never expects to find Hope and Billy at the scene (They first appeared in Justice for Milena) he knows that Billy hasn't talked since being kidnapped and being homeless has both of them very leery of men. When one of Hope's regular customers give Billy a lottery ticket that is a winner everyone wants a share. But he needs to assure Hope that he's a patient man and when she's ready he'll be there for her and her son. When the diner where she works at is torched plus the owner severely beaten Calder is there to keep both of them safe and a place for the owner to recover from his injuries. When Billy is kidnapped every friend they both have will be there to help find him before it's too late.

Hope Drayden and her son Billy have been running from her abusive ex-husband and after being homeless she's is finally able find her way back with a job and a place to stay. It doesn't matter that its a seedy motel it's a roof over their heads. One morning on their way home they find that one of their homeless friends has been killed, they meet Calder at the scene. She's very distrustful of anyone and little does she know that he'll soon start coming in every morning slowly showing them he's interested in both of them. It will take Billy going missing to show them that support of friends, family and Beth came come together to find him before the kidnappers do. Calder will show them both that they can be a family.

While all Susan's female characters are put through a lot of harrowing situations, Hope's is different in many ways. She was homeless with her son and after the incident in Justice for Milena, she left the area she where once sought shelter. The area she's moved to has fewer shelters, but she got lucky. The owner of a diner, Joseph hired her, checked her and Billy into a motel and even let Billy stay in his office while she worked her shifts.

Calder has promised Blythe (Shelter for Blythe) to keep his eyes open for Hope and Billy. He'd been unsuccessful until he was called on an investigation. As one of the Coroners he was frequently called to the scene of a crime. When he saw the woman and child who'd made the call huddled together, he knew he'd found her and the reason he hadn't before. She'd found a job and was off the streets. Now Calder has what I would call perpetual foot in mouth disease. The poor guy just can't seem to have anything he says come out the way he really means it to.

Calder continues to pursue Hope by having breakfast at the diner where she works. A somewhat stressful environment for Hope, where the waitresses are mostly snippy and a patron leaves lottery tickets as tips.

Things take an interesting turn in many ways when Eli gives Billy the lottery ticket and cash to his waitress. That ticket, a million dollar winner, begins a cycle of events that will have you turning the pages to see what happens next.

I love the way Susan portrays the life changing factors, the slow build of Hope and Calder's relationship and the twist that brings them closer than ever.

It was great to see all the Badge of Honor crew as they gather to congratulate Hope. I shed more than a few tears over this book. I really can't wait for the next book in this series!

Overall Amanda Rating: A+++

I am so happy that I didn't have the bad guy figured out halfway through! It was an actual surprise to me! This book was absolutely fantastic!! I have been waiting to read Hope's story and have been so concerned for her and her son, Billy.
Once again we are seeing homelessness and once again the author writes it in a very real way. The circumstances behind, the attempt to get back on top of things. I love how well the Author creates the characters as well as their stories so well! I feel like I am somehow inside the story as I am reading it.

The plot, the characters, the smutty scenes all of it was perfect!

Hope and Billy- I thought these characters were very well done. This mom did an amazing job of trying to take care of her son, and doing whatever she needed to see that He was okay, even while homeless. She was brave and strong, a hard worker and sweet as pie.

Calder- At the beginning of the book his character was not as amazing as he was by the ending. His character arc was great! Even if the author did not plan on doing it. He is a bachelor that struggles with talking politely at times. He is set in his ways, and yet falls for Hope hard and fast!

Pop-Pop- By far one of my favorite characters. I am so glad that the author had him throughout the book. He was a great secondary character, fun to read about, and reminds me of my own amazing grandpa.

The previous characters were also sprinkled through the books. I would have liked to see some of the other "pregnant" stories a little better, just a tad more information.

Overall I am so glad that my co-worker introduced me to this author!!

I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and Calder and Hope's story was no different. I loved it.

Hope is a strong character much like Blythe from the previous book in this series. How they ended up on the streets is very different but they became friends and that friendship lead her to Calder Stonewall. Can she trust him because of her past experiences with men in law enforcement? Well if you have read any books in the series you already know the answer to that question.

Hope is very strong and she struggles to raise her son and provide a roof over their heads. She is very protective of Billy and the way Ms. Stroker writes about these characters makes them seem real. They are relatable and face everyday problems.

Her son Billy is mute by choice after a kidnapping but he is a strong little boy who deserves to have a childhood. He steals the book in my opinion. He is sweet and kind and very loving despite what has happened to him in his 7 years.

Calder is just as alpha male as the heroes in the other stories. He is very patient and attentive to what Hope and Billy need. He is a bit awkward but it only makes him more sexy.

I really enjoyed this story and there were a few twists and turns. I know I need to read Ms. Stroker's books on the weekend when I can read them straight through but it's so hard to wait. I didn't want to put this book down. I was hooked when we met Hope and Billy.

I am looking forward to the next in the series but I am also sad because I know there aren't too many books left in the series.

We originally met Hope and her seven year old son Billy in Shelter For Blythe when her son was abducted and he is still feeling the after effects of the trauma. She is on the run from her abusive ex and with no one to turn to she is just grateful to have the job at the diner and be able to put food on their table and have a roof over their head. She is trying to stay under the radar as the last thing she wants is to attract unwanted attention.

Calder is the medical examiner who was asked by his friend Blythe to keep his eyes open for Hope and Billy but the last place he expected to find them was a crime scene. From the moment he sees Hope he knows that she is the one for him but now he has to convince her that not only can she trust him, but he will be there for her.

When Hope receives a tip from a customer it may be a life changer for her and her son but at what cost?

I loved Calder and Hope together and I also loved how Calder was with her son Billy. Hope has been through so much and it is only made her stronger and Calder loves so deeply and is willing to be patient and wait for her to realize that they belong together. This is a great addition to the series and the next book can’t come soon enough. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I am yet to read a book in this series that does not grab and hold my attention! This is Hope and Calder's story...whom we caught a glimpse of at the end of Blythe and Sawyer's story. Calder has spent months searching for Hope and her 7yo son, Billy, ever since Blythe shared that they were homeless, but without success. Imagine his surprise when he arrives at a crime scene and the witnesses are non other than Hope and Billy. It was cute and hilarious to see how the 40 yo ME became a blithering idiot around the beautiful single mom. Calder learns that Hope is a waitress at a diner and has been living in a seedy motel. Calder also becomes a regular at the diner and soon wins over Billy, who has been mute since he had been kidnapped (in another story). Over time, Hope becomes comfortable with Calder and lets him into her life. We know that Hope is on the run from an abusive ex, who happens to be a cop, so that took some doing. She and Billy have found an ally in the elderly, widowed owner of the diner, Joe. Her coworkers though...not so much. There is so much going on in this book but I don't want to give spoilers so I will just say that we have a patient, sexy dude, his awesome supportive friends, bad guys and a good balance of sweet romance and suspense. Another great HEA to wrap up the story. Now I need Quinn and Driftwood's story...*tapping foot impatiently*

I really didnt like the other waitresses at the diner, knowing just how much Hope had struggled to get the minimum of a life back with her son and how hard she worked and often did their shifts you would think they'd be nicer. No wonder women often get a bad name when they behave like these do. Hope is so strong, that she kept both herself and Billy as safe as she had while being homeless is inspiring, I'm so glad Joseph saw something in her and gave her the job and support. Calder is so wonderful with both of them, understanding and caring without being overbearing. This story is about strength, not as in how much you can lift or carry but of mind and soul, survival and protection. It's starting from nothing and even when finally things take a turn for the better, it's remembering the previous. It's also learning to accept a little help when it's offered. Fabulous characters, a few twists, great friends and lots of emotions. I would have liked a little bit about Elias after the events, a conversation or her giving him some of the money or helping him in some way just to tie that point up but as always it's a story that makes you think as a reader, feel grateful for what you have, be it little or a lot. This author delivers every time giving stories full of characters that have depth and grit right along with romance. Marvellous read.

After hearing the entire series (15 books) straight through, a few characters are seeming a little too much the same, but I don't mind because they're such good guys. Having the same narrator likely contributed to some sense of sameness. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I had put some other things between these books, maybe jumped briefly to another genre. I even thought of this, but was too eager for each next book to be able to pull away from this world. The fact that I couldn't slow down on this series made it a five-star for me, even though I can't say every single book would have been a 5 individually.

Love these characters. All the guys are loyal friends who give each other a hard time-all in fun, but are there for each other and the women and children of the group in a big way when trouble comes.

The women have different issues and you get a good understanding of the circumstances of each of them. I learned more about living with agoraphobia, epilepsy, speech impairment, blindness, and dealing with other conditions such as PTSD through the stories. I especially liked a victim from a previous series getting her HEA in this series.

Looking forward to more Susan Stoker after jumping around to some other genres for a bit.

With Justice for Hope, Susan Stoker has another winner on her hands. We first met Hope and Billy in Justice for Milena. Billy was the little boy that was kidnapped by the villain in that story. Hope and Billy have gotten off the streets, barely, when Calder Stonewall finally finds them. Life has taught Hope that nothing lasts and that trust can hurt. Fortunately, Calder has an abundance of patience. His interactions with Billy are nothing short of swoon-worthy, especially since the boy no longer speaks (as a result of the aforementioned kidnapping). When an unexpected event completely upends Hope’s life, Calder is there to love, support, and defend her. Calder is an unlikely hero – a 40 year old medical examiner who is, by his own admission, nerdy, and awkward around women to whom he’s attracted. But that is part of his appeal. And when Calder loves, it is with his whole heart. That’s evident by his deep friendships with the other heroes of this series, in his relationship with Billy, his opening his home to Joseph, and his steadfast support of Hope. While Hope is on the run from an abusive ex, it is Billy who is put into danger. The big question is - from whom? And that answer … well, read the book and find out.

"Justice for Hope" by Susan Stoker is a compelling and emotionally charged story of resilience, love, and the strength of the human spirit. Hope Drayden's life on the run takes a toll on her and her young son, Billy, until a chance at a new beginning presents itself in the form of a job offer from a compassionate diner owner. The story unfolds with a delicate balance of tension, hope, and the determination to overcome past traumas.

Calder Stonewall, a medical examiner, becomes an unexpected source of support and protection for Hope and Billy. The narrative skillfully weaves together elements of suspense and heartwarming moments as the characters navigate the challenges of their circumstances. The evolving relationship between Hope and Calder is portrayed with sensitivity, and Calder's genuine care for both mother and son adds depth to the story.

"Justice for Hope" stands out for its well-crafted characters, engaging plot, and the exploration of themes such as trust, healing, and the importance of found family. Susan Stoker continues to deliver impactful stories within the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series, and this installment is no exception.

Finally, we get Hope and Calder’s story. If you follow the author and read her Badge of Honor series you know that Hope and Calder make appearances in a couple of her other stories with hints of what will come. But here, we finally get to visit them up close and personal and follow their courtship from beginning to end. And what a story it is. Stoker is one of my go-to 1click authors because she always writes great heartwarming stories with endearing alpha men and resilient women who stand by their side. Stoker pulls at the heartstrings with her heroines rising from bad situations to stand on their own, push back and grow in self-confidence and strength. Her stories always highlight everyday circumstances and she handles all the situations with care and respect. And they always hold a wonderful balance of excitement, drama, suspense and slow burn romance with a HEA. Justice for Hope will pull you in from the beginning and hold your interest until the end. The characters are fun, witty, strong, determined, resourceful, and entertaining. They will easily capture your heart. Hope and Calder’s journey is definitely a heartfelt read that will you will enjoy. Hope and Calder are dazzling and their story is a great addition to the Badge of Honor series.

We came to know of Hope and Billy from reading Shelter for Blythe and how she desperately wanted to find them. Sharing her concerns with Calder and telling him all about Hope and her son Billy made him want to find them even more.

So when he gets called to a scene and he sees a woman and a little boy huddled together he knows he has found Hope and Billy. He approaches them and tells Hope that he is a friend of Blythe and that she has been desperately been trying to find them. Hope and Billy have been through so much trauma and are reluctant to trust him. Their recent trauma was so bad that Billy now does not speak.

Calder is patient and is able to make Billy feel comfortable. His constant patience and persistence finally wins Hope also. But they will be challenged on a number occasions that will test this budding relationship.

Whenever you pick up a Susan Stoker book you know it will be good!! She has a wonderful writing style with some of the strongest women you will ever read about and she pairs them with their perfect partners.
