When Clint and the boys “clean house” after discovering a small dangerous operation of child sex traffickers, they find themselves pulled into a nightmare of unparalleled proportions where children are nothing but “merchandise” and the depth of depravity and abuse reaches beyond human comprehension.
Note: This is an M/M romance and should be read by readers 18yo and above only.
Born and raised in scenic Coos County, Oregon, CJ enjoys the small town atmosphere and down-to-earth country folk who populate the area. She is a single mother and lives with her 18-year-old daughter, 1 horse, 4 dogs and 6 cats deep in the country woodlands which gives her plenty of time to write.
She is a Christian and a strong supporter of the LGBT community and favors gay erotic romance when it comes to writing. She hopes that her stories of love and acceptance will help further compassion and understanding for LGBT people who she feels is greatly misunderstood and persecuted - in a large party by the Christian community.
Most of all, she is hopeful that her stories will bring comfort to those who have been told that God hates them because they are different. It is her strong belief that God loves everyone and His love covers all.
Holy shit this was harsh 😬 this episode was brutal and dark - child trafficking is heart breaking to say the least and it was extremely disturbing to read about it. In saying this I did NOT blink an eye when Clint and Cochise went full metal jacket on those mother fuckers - the description of that torture was even worse that the horror those poor kids dealt with and yet ... I was thrilled when they got what they deserved. Considering I’m a peaceful cheery soul I’m quite shocked at my responses ! I wouldn’t recommend this book as a stand alone - you really need to understand the background of these characters. I read this virtually non stop !
The author C.J. Bishop has blown my mind with this continuing novel dealing with our favorite Cowboy, his family and extended loved ones. We also have new characters that I would love seeing them interact with "The Family".
I have read every single book from C.J. Bishop and this one was VERY GRAPHIC. There are triggers everywhere. But know that the bad guys get their tickets straight to hell.
Even though this book was graphic I'm ready for the next installment. Cruz and Sanchez, Donald and John, even our new characters Frank and the detective Will. Whatever it is I'm ready.
Oh, I love this series....but this one was a little harder to read than some of the past books. Besides the subject matter of child sex trafficking which is disgusting as it is, this book really focused a lot on the vigilante torture/justice that Cowboy and friends mete out to the scumbags and less on the relationships in a lot of way. The brutality of it all overshadowed the humanity sometimes, even though there was plenty to get your feelings worked up over.
There were a lot of new outside characters and head hopping and viewpoints in this book, more than usual. I'm great with expanding the cowboyverse to include a wider array of characters but some of this was superfluous.
And last...you really, really, really have to be able to suspend disbelief at how Cowboy and the gang work with the kids and the cops. That there were no repercussions for the cop that helps them at the very least ... well, honestly the whole thing with returning the kids is just not in anyway realistic.
I'm ready for the next one. Let's get back to smaller/shorter torture scenes and back to bigger/heavier emotional scenes with the guys we care about.
I'm not really sure where to go first in my assessment of this novel. The poor grammar? The poor sentence structure? The substandard vocabulary? The unrealistic storyline, maybe. Because, I'm not sure in what messed up alternate universe this set of circumstances could possibly occur. The police and the FBI are fine with a brand of vigilantism that amounts to serial killing? I just can't swallow that. Granted, people who traffic in children deserve no better than what is depicted here, but in a society structured on the rule of law, it just doesn't work that way. I simply could not suspend my disbelief. The author possesses very poor grammar and vocabulary skills, a circumstance I have found with quite a few fledgling authors recently. For example, she uses the word wreak to describe a bad odor. The correct word is 'reek'. Wreak means to initiate an action, such as, ' to wreak havoc.' Most fifth graders know this. This is not an editing error. This is poor vocabulary. Then there are the sex scenes. Completely unbelievable, to the point of being embarrassing. She obviously has no idea what is involved in a sexual relationship between men. No condoms? Perfectly acceptable in a committed, monogamous relationship, so, fine. No lube? No prep? Ouch! Not believable at all. And her choice of dialogue during sex? Lame, stilted, crass, distracting. Thankfully, her sex scenes are thin, brief, and uninspired. I never thought that would be a plus, but there it is. And what's up with all the crying? For a group of revenge-killers, these guys sure do cry a lot. It just doesn't seem realistic that anyone could compartmentalize their emotional responses to that degree. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that participating in the level of violence depicted in this story would affect a real person more deeply, would desensitize them in their general emotional responses, no matter how strongly they believe in the rightness of their cause. All in all, this book was a disappointment, and I'm glad I checked it out from the Kindle lending library, rather than paying actual money for it.
There were several moments in this story when my eyes became misty. But the places that really broke me down was Grace, calling Clint “daddy” & Mrs Morgan crying, “My babies!” C.J. Bishop is a phenomenal writer! She makes it possible to FEEL. Having a sense of numbness in one’s everyday life & not being able to overcome it, it becomes necessary to break that wall sometimes, even temporarily. Reading her books allows me to break through & feel real emotion. To cleanse my soul of the backup; the buildup that needs a valve to release it. C J Bishop is my release valve. Thank you, C.J.
This book is part of the Gangster Cowboy series, which is related to the Phoenix series. To fully understand and relate to this book, it’s best to be familiar with the Gangster Cowboy books.
This was intense! I would highly recommend a box of Kleenex and an empty stomach if you are squeamish. There is a lot of torture in these pages.
I love Clint and his Gangster/Mobster friends. This is a tale of reckoning for a bunch of child sex traffickers. It’s gritty, raw, and very graphic.
This is not a stand-alone and does end in somewhat of a cliffhanger.
I'm not sure what to say. I loved this book, but I hate what happened to all those kids. It broke my heart what Clint went through. I really cried all the way to the end. I just don't understand how people can do such horrible things to kids. The saddest part about this book is that it happens in real life, everyday.
Not for everyone. Stomach churning, upsetting. Child abuse on a level you can't comprehend. I'm still crying ugly tears. I will leave a better review later
Yet again there are not enough stars for this book. C J Bishop writes about these men so well that they jump out of the page at you. The men from the family are loved by the reader and the men who do wrong are detested by the reader. This book is definitely not an easy read and at times the tears slip down your face but it is brilliantly written. As usual this author makes real men, women and children from the characters on the page. This book is about the innocent and will ring out huge emotions in the reader, but it's a story that needed to be told. Clint knows what true evil is ( he thinks!) But when they come across a group of children held by a sex trafficking ring then he knows what he has to do. When the children are safe Clint learns about an orphanages that some of the warehouse he realizes he's not done. Clint and the men that stand beside him will make the children safe and then make the men who did this to beautiful children pay. As usual Clint, Cochise and the other men there take a mans worst nightmare and make it more real and much more scary. Axel needs to realize that he's Clint's safe place and the only place he should be. Clint know that Axel is his safe place and the only place he belongs. Axel just needs to find away to realize that himself. As the family we have come to love open up their hearts to these children some are even willing to open up their family a little wider to engulf these beautiful children. C J Bishop does it again. This author gives you av Another book that will take you on emotional journey.
I absolutely love this author. With that being said I had a very hard time reading this book. I absolutely loved all of the books that involved the characters in this book..... however I wanted to stop reading because it was just too much, I get it the trafficking and sex trade and abuse of children is a very real thing and the other does not skimp on that. But there are places that I had to speed read through because like I said it was just too much, and to descriptive of the torture that they used.... not that they did not deserve to be tortured I just didn't need so much description of it if that makes sense... I really wanted this book to be like the other books series with these characters and it just wasn't. At the beginning of the book to young gentleman stumble upon that house that this takes place in so it was a really good lead into the book it will made you anticipate what was going to happen. As always an amazing Author but this book just was not my cup of tea... as always happy reading

WOW! I seriously do not know what to say about this book! I've sat here, reading the other reviews, seen people say that it's "too graphic", but I disagree. I don' think it was graphic enough when detailing the punishments doled out to those involved. I also disagree with the people saying that the police wouldn't have let Cowboy off so lightly, not considering the horrors that the cowboy and his friends saved the children from. Yes, Cowboy & co are vigilantes as such but the thing is what they're doing is ridding the world of the evilness, trying to make it a safer place for the children, the INNOCENT! So, that being said, I absolutely LOVED this. While the topic was a hard one to read about, the author dealt with in a sensitive way, making sure that the ones who did harm the children suffered immensely. It had all the usual angst in it as well as the usual hot sexy scenes too! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING read but not one for the faint hearted !!
Just a warning before you read this book. Bring lots of tissues. You will need them. This book pulls hard at your heart strings. This book is amazing. It just makes you love the cowboy even more too. If you haven't really thought that much about child sex trafficking, you will after you read this book. I want to go out and find these animals and destroy them like Clint and his boys have done. This really does happen. Parents, always know where your children are at all times. Keep them safe. This book is a must read. This will be one book I'll read several times again. It's unforgettable. CJ Bishop, you did it again. Heartfelt, amazing, eye opening, and just fantastic. I've never cried so much as I have in this book.
Thanks to this author for bringing awareness to this evil depravity that the world doesn't do or talk about enough, SEX TRAFFICKING of CHILDREN. To place this subject in the lawless world of the Cowboy Gangster and Crew is genius fantasy storytelling. This Crew is One Family, No Apologizes, No Mercy,Judge and Jury and Executioners and Vigilantes!!Though they are hardcore and badasses they also love and protect the lost, abused, damaged, unwanted souls of this world and give them hope and some are lucky enough to join this expanding family of outsiders. Now I'm anxiously waiting on Cochise's origin story more on his relationship with Kane and the teenage angst in their home.
Right out of today's society. With everything I read from C J Bishop/A M Snead I find myself reaching for the box of Kleenex. Today we are faced more and more with this story in the news, human trafficking more to the point sex trafficking. I wish that the law could be as Cowboy Clint free flowing with punishment. He doles out the best punishment.
So well developed, so worth the investment. Pick up your copy and fall in love with Clint, Axel, Cochise and Kane, not to mention the other Phoenix Club boys or Cruze, Sanchez and the others. Bring the Kleenex box for this one.
Ms. Bishop outdid herself on this one. This book packed a lunch like no other. There were many relationships I hope she expands on in future books. I have never read any novel that impacted me on such a soul deep level as this one. If you can stomach it, I recommend reading it. Once. There were times I had to walk away and was unsure if I could finish reading it. I'm glad I toughed it out to the just conclusion. As I told my friends, 5 stars easy, but I will never read it again. The images from the first time are burned in my head forever. Clint and Axel are still my favorites and I love them more than ever after this journey!
I love C J Bishop books and have read them all. They have had me laughing out loud, put a sting in my eyes and a knot in my throat, but this one brought tears to my eyes and an ache in my chest. Perhaps it was because the horrors that transpired in this book are too much a reality everyday for children around the world. Thank you for the book C J and for bringing this horrendous abuse to children out into the light. Awareness may help some real child out there to be saved. Definitely recommend this book, this author and this series.
Oh my goodness I thought my heart might break for the children in this book. The anguish and hurt they went through and What the guys go through to free them. I cried a lot through this book and yet still the love and warmth of the characters i have come to love is evident. I need to read something light now to balance the darkness of this story. But I have to say I loved it and can't wait for Axel and Clint to have a child live with them they so deserve to have their own family. Fabulous.
This book deals with children in the sex trafficking world, in case you missed it elsewhere. So keep that in mind when getting into this book.
It is really well written, and gets you right in the feels at every turn. It challenges our favorite Cowboy and shows us how the worst thing possible isn't as far away as we would like it.
It's emotional from the start and pushes those emotional walls throughout the book. But it is so worth the read.
This story will rock so many different emotions inside you with all the horror done to these children. Clint and his crew went to the bowels of hell with these children when they rescued them. No child should ever go through those things. I knew that these children would get the best of care and placed with living people. Hope to get more stories and follow ups with these characters.
I just love this group of men. From the Phoenix boys, the gangster cowboy, and the Santiago family, comes another great book with all of them in it. If you have not had the pleasure of reading these stories and seeing how they all fit together....then you should. These men believe children are the moat precious things on this earth and they will do anything to ensure their safety and make the people abusing them pay.
This book broke my heart and uplifted it at the same time. I was in tears for a lot of this book and my heart wept for Clint. I know we need the gory bits to punish evil but some was a bit much for my queasy stomach. I know. I'm a wuss. Lol. !over a lot of these characters. Great storyline told well. Live Wil and Frank, I hope we get to see more of them both. I'd also love to catch up on all of GBE children that were rescued.
I adored The Cowboy Gangster stories and keep hoping that the series just keeps going on and on. This one is really heartstopping, as The Cowboy continues to save and protect new folks as well as deliver justice to the evildoers. Axel is growing so much, as well. And Clint reveals an even softer heart than I had thought, beneath that rough exterior.
CJ Bishop is one of those authors that makes you love and hate them at the same time. There are so many feels in this book, mainly sadness and anger, but in the end there is hope and love. I love this series and all the one's connected to it can't wait for more, CJ Bishop is a genius!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I love the writing of CJ Bishop. It has adult content and sensitive matters. I cried in a couple of chapters, However CJ Bishop always brings justice to the ones who needs it the worse. I love that Clint and Axel and other character of the books are included. I wish that we will soon get Maddy's story. Great author and great book!
Oh wow my emotions are all over the place just now. This book is about such horrible things but you won't want to put it down, I swear I cried so much. C J Bishop is a must have for me and never disappoints me, but this book is so much more than any of the others, which are all great reads.
It has been an extremely long time that I had not read such a heart-rending and well written book as this one. The author has done a sun excellent job in delving into the facts. This is a story that I couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend this book to all adults. They need to understand the danger the young ones are in every single day.
The cowboy and his family of "gangster" ride again bringing their kind of justice to those who think its okay to harm children.
Too bad this type of rescue of children can only happen in fictional stories. God Bless the children and the people who love, care and treat them as God's precious gifts.
It was hard to read this story due to the children but I am so thankful for the cowboy and his friends I am happy the children are being well taken care of and I'm hoping to hear more about Wil and Frank. And the continuing stories of the Phoenix men and their growing family
As always CJ draws you in from beginning to end and doesn't disappoint. I have followed these characters from the beginning and it only gets better. I can't wait to see what she has in store for these wonderful men in her next book. Keep up the awesome writing CJ ^.^
Just like all of Cj Bishops book I really enjoyed....It broke my heart on one page and filled me with rage on the next..I must read for lovers of Clint,Axel and the rest of the gangster family.
