Better than #11
I have read all 12 books/Chronicals but was not pleased with number eleven; delighted to have the storyline renewed. I am hoping number thirteen will take a stronger turn to the Industrial Revolution and beyond. I gave this edition four stars for multiple reasons which include, Carrie never seems to move beyond school, Moses and Rose were minor characters, Thomas and Abby continue to be embroiled in the same business uncertainty, perpetual slavery discussion are repetitive, there was no concretely surprising instances. There often seems an absence of closure on prior events and characters. My hope is the next installment moves forward with greater speed and historical references and involvement, e.g., intense character development.

I love her books and have read all 12 of them. They are great historical fiction about the whole civil war era and continue on with the aftermath of the war. The characters are all the same but some new ones are added and some are subtracted but you know and grow to love all of them. She has now covered the Indian crisis in the Southeastern US, the suffragette movement the laws about husbands being able to put their wives in mental institutions for no reason and this one was on the child labor crisis. All of them also focus on the discrimination of different minorities including race, nationality, gender, and sex. I have learned so much from reading her books about this period of time. Great reads.

Through the Eyes of Women
As with each book in this accurate historical chronicle, the detailed perspective of each female character's life brings my attention to the historical events I so well ignored learning. Through the eyes of these Bregdan Women, the events that shaped our country before, during, and after the Civil War, bring authenticity to the lives and events of that time. The reader comes away with a clear understanding of the motives that charged, not only war, but the fight for the equality and rights of women, children, American Indians, and early immigrants who sought those rights, only to find they had to fight for them..
This chronicle is all-inclusive. Aside from that, it has captured my heart, my conscious thoughts, and woven its way into my unconscious thinking patterns.
I have learned more about the weaving of the fabric of our country and of generations gone by than I have in a history class or from documents and books.
In my opinion, The Bregdan Chronicles should be in every high school library, and on every history teacher's reading enrichment list,.
I highly recommend The Bregdan Chronicles for every woman's heart.

Horizons Unfolding
With each new book in this fantastic series the reader is transported in time to historical sites that are so honestly and accurately depicted that it is almost like you are there. The characters are alive and fascinating and the issues brought to light in such a way that angst for the bad and euphoria for the successes are clearly felt by the reader. I anxiously await each trip to the past to find what new problems arise and how resolution will be made. If I may be so bold, andi know this dates me,but this series is as good as the John Jakes series of the Kent Family Chronicles. Keep the past coming our way. Kudos on your books one and all Ms. Dye.

I finished the entire series. Her historical accuracy is appreciated and a bit of a reflection of the current climate.

Another Page Turner
When I first started this book, I thought I would be disappointed because I could not remember all the characters. Started to suggest a "family tree" from the previous 11 books. Then it all became clear. We were progressing. So many things in this book refreshed what I learned in school, but in a more interesting fashion. It especially brought to light so many issues that need to be addressed in our country today. Ginny, you revive history in a beautiful fashion but always leave us looking at issues that need to be addressed today. Impatiently waiting for the next Bregdan Chronicle.

Wonderful story!
I will look forward to the 13th book as much as I did the 12th book. Very good book number twelve. Some of it was history as I have learned it before many decades ago. But it grabs you as it refreshes your memories of decades ago
Today I listened to five women argue about a second Civil War coming in the next five years.This happened on The View today. I certainly hope that this does not happen I would like to think that we learned valuable lessons before, during the first Civil War.

Bregdan Chronicles
I just finished reading the entire series of Bregdan Chronicles.
I read them continually from 1 to 12. To say I have enjoyed them is an understatement. These books made me feel every emotion we have. They have captured my attention and thoughts, like no other series I have ever read. I strongly suggest that you make time in your life to become a “Brendan Woman!” I learned so much from the storyline. It parallels our country today with the struggles that Americans face. I will happily read the next one to catch up with old friends!

Carrie got married before Christmas. She brought some healing to some of the amputees from the war and they promised to stop being vigilantes. She went to Philadelphia to get her surgery certificate and discovers children working in the factories there. I didn't remember that part of our history. Maybe it wasn't taught it was just skimmed over in history class. Hopefully we have come a long way from that but it makes me wonder what is going on today that needs to change, that I need to be a part of the change.

Another great book. The Bregdan Chronicles really should be a mini-series on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon Prime. I would certainly watch it! I just love all the characters. Frances has been a nice addition and so is Anthony. I also like Matthew's twin brother and I like Lillian too. There is a lot going on in this series. I have been waiting for Amazon to send me #14, #15 and #16. I ordered them on April 23rd and I'm still waiting and they haven't even shipped them as yet. Bumming me out. I can't wait to start the next book. . .

Another saga well-told!
Again, I hate to see another book end! The plantation, Richmond, Philadelphia and the factories continue to be the background for personal growth and struggles. The families are growing. Familiar stories blend into new situations. Unlike other book series, I don’t find the stories are being re-hashed; instead, the plot advances as characters continue to develop. Carrie continues to grow in her medical education, taking on a surgery internship.

I really enjoy this series. Not only is it historical, but it also is an amazing story of family. I can relate to many things in today's times as well. A well told tale of the turbulent times our country went through before the Civil War, during and now after. Told in many voices of the South, North and everyone in between, free and slave, men and women....Just a phenomenal story that makes me laugh and cry.

Beautiful Horizons
I pre ordered Horizons Unfolding and received it when first released. Knowing that I cannot put this series down until I finish the book, I held off as long as I could. Once again you did not fail me. The only problem is that now I have so long to wait to continue my journey. Your attention to detail and ability to draw the readers into the lives of each family is nothing short of remarkable.

Waiting for #13.
I have finally finished reading the series as far as it goes for now. I love each and every story. The depth of characters is excellent, and the history is so well researched and well written. These books are definitely keepers. Historical fiction is my favorite reading. I am learning so much through these character's life journey. I look forward eagerly to the coming books.

All characters have a history but history is not mentioned. How did they come to know Carrie?
Brought up several (too many) characters that were not related directly to the story. They all seemed to always be dining at Carrie's.
Should have listed characters in a glossary or something.
Only excitement was Carrie saving a little girl's life. Somewhat boring.even Carrie's wedding and going out again to the river through the the tunnels.

Fantastic history series
This series is absolutely the best for revealing the history of our country in so many ways. The stories bring it home. While I am somewhat of a history follower, the details in these stories are almost overwhelming. At the same time, the depth shows the excellent research the author has done. The choices we make reflects the parts we have played in our history. The books have me hooked like no other series read. Worth every reading minute.

Amazing Series
This series of books has captivated me from book 1! Ginny Dye has obviously done a lot of research, then written these engaging books about the Civil War into a beautiful historical novel! Each book builds on the previous one, unraveling more and more history and describing what people might have experienced during this period of time! Thank you Ginny! I have been reading these books for a couple of months. I love historical fiction, but not romance novels.
This book was weak. I was generous giving it two stars. It felt rushed, with almost no character development, predictable and a boring read.
I won't continue reading the series. The first 5 books were really good; I loved the description of the civil war.
The whole series is a bit pollyanna and really "woke".
It got exhausting...

Again I was engaged once more in this 12th Bregdan Chronicles. The women characters speak volumes over circumstances that were not available to them. The strong emotions and fighting spirit of these women and others of this time to keep trying to make change and not giving up. The history of this time in the Aftermath of the Civil War, years after. I am learning what I think I should have known better during the Industrial Revolution. Love this books.

Worth The Wait!
This is another good story of the struggles of life, the greed of men when you put profit above the well-being of families and children. Another form of slave labor. Happy to see Carrie finally happy with her own Family. Another battle for Carrie and her crusade to fight for the rights of the people. Can't wait

Bravo!
This book and the entire series is amazing. The story of the families is intriguing and the Civil War history is an extra bonus. Ginny Dye makes you THINK and gives incites into the war from all sides. I found aspects to consider that had never before occurred to me. Bravo!

From the first sentence, it's like dropping in for a visit with old friends -- who are doing important things.
This might be my favorite of the entire series and made me think of that quote: The more things change...
There are always problems in the world but as long as we Bregdan Women are around things will improve.

Some wars won many still to fight !
The struggles after the war opened new to fight. The slaves were free but they were still trying to reestablish to find jobs and support families. Women were in a fight to become equal. Still they all great things were happening. Reuniting with love ones and love coming after great loses. Can't wait to read on!!

Great ending
So well written with strong characters returning.
The history of children working in factories is just the beginning of another struggle.
The love and respect they have for each other is wonderful, but the anger of those being wronged is just as passionate.
Can't wait for next book!

Wonderful series!!
I have stayed awake many nights until 2:30/3:00am reading about Carrie Cromwell.....her life, her family, her friends; her triumphs and her trials; our country and it’s growth, the good and the bad!! Amazing to me how similar today in America is compared to how it was in Carrie’s time! And so sad!
