Keep your house clean, your family fed, and your budget balanced. With over three decades of professional organizing experience, Marie Ricks will walk you step by step to a calmer, happier life. Each chapter focuses on a specific topic like meal prepping, shopping, organizing your whole house, managing stress, and more to help you create more time in your day and more peace in your home.
Be Organized... author shares key concepts to keeping a clean and organized house, but the structure of the book is too complicated. People crave a simple process to follow. Most of the tips are common sense and do not redirect the core reasons why homes are untidy. Outdated information, old fashioned, and overly wordy text.
The irony of this book is that it’s poorly organized. It seems to jump all over the place within each chapter, and the bolded headings are hard to follow as the information that comes after them doesn’t always seem to fit. Also, the tone of the book is very stiff and old-fashioned. Don’t let the modern-looking photos on the cover fool you; this is absolutely your mother’s organization book. She has a few really solid and useful ideas but for the most part I felt like this was full of strategies that were either common sense or overly convoluted (although some of that may have just been her writing style).
There were one or two interesting bits of advice in here, but I feel it was very focused on a family where only one parent works. I also wasn't a huge fan of the last chapter in which it talked about "training" kids to obey organization words. The section felt too much like training a dog. Average book over all and I am not sure it is one I would recommend.
