The world is full of corpses, and Jackson knows them by name. When a group strives to destroy the Inquisition, his powers may be all standing between the supernaturals and extinction.
However, when he learns the truth behind the deaths of his wife and unborn daughter, Jackson may prove to be the greatest threat of all to the survival of mankind...
RJ Blain suffers from a Moleskine journal obsession, a pen fixation, and a terrible tendency to pun without warning.
When she isn't playing pretend, she likes to think she's a cartographer and a sumi-e painter. In reality, she herds cats and a husband, and obeys the commands of Tsu Dhi, the great warrior fish.
In her spare time, she daydreams about being a spy. Should that fail, her contingency plan involves tying her best of enemies to spinning wheels and quoting James Bond villains until she is satisfied.
More of a skim safe read, revisiting the best bits. I'm in a good book place right now, don't want to ruin it.

First read for the year. Picked because its one of my fave's and I wanted a good start. Nothing worse than starting the year on a DNF. This one just kept me up till 3am. Jackson continues to be one of my favorite characters in the series. He was good at what he did but didn't have an obsession over it. Staring down the pack remains my favorite bit. Richard really shouldn't be allowed to fly planes when they're so easy to sabotage.

Re-read. When it comes to this series, I only re-read this one, Silver bullet and Beneath a blood moon. Jackson is still one of my favourite characters, with how he gives everything up to protect Evelyn, not backing down and treating Richard as an equal. I also liked how he can hear the dead, to me it just feels like something special. The kidnapping and plane accident felt pretty standard. My favourite part except for all the wolf cuddles and doting family, was Jackson snapping on the wolves when Evelyn gets hurt. Would’ve been nice to see Lyle complain himself.

My favourite one so far and it even makes me want to read the first book, despite not liking the anthology much. For me it had everything. Jackson is a strong character even though he can’t fight and spends a good portion of the book banged up. It’s the most realistic and the issues it deals with are harsh. Curious about Vicky. Favourite characters were Jackson and Richard. I do like the pack thing in this one.

First the disclaimer: I beta read and helped proofread and edit Blood Diamond. I got no payment for my assistance nor do I want any. I did not get a free copy for review; I bought my copy, because I love RJ Blain's books and want her to continue to write wonderful, glorious words. After I bought my copy, I found out RJ thanked me by naming me in the dedication. Having the book dedicated to me will not affect my review, although it did cause squeals of joy.
I passionately loved the book as a beta reader. I have now read Blood Diamond 4 times, I think, and I still love it. RJ Blain's character interactions are so well done I feel like I know these people; we are friends, and I care what happens to them. I hurt with them, and when they are silly and happy, I am happy, too. Blood Diamond is more of a romance than Inquisitor and Winter Wolf, but it is still what I classify as urban fantasy or contempory fantasy. Although it could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading at least Winter Wolf first.
Jackson is a witch who knows the names of the dead, and his brother is the Inquisition's Shadow Pope. When an Inquisition operation goes horribly wrong, Jackson meets someone who will forever change his life. The thrills, chills, excitement, horror, laughs, betrayals, family dysfunction, and reunions had me glued to every page. I read Blood Diamond in one sitting the first time.
RJ Blain's characters, the relationships between them, and their interactions are my favorite thing about her books. Her characters are so well-written they feel real. Even her secondary characters, Gerald, Zachary, Jackson's parents, and Amber are written as fully fledged people, not simply space-occupying figures.
I always worry I will gush too much and people will think I am exaggerating when I write a review for a book I love. Blood Diamond with its witches, Fenerec, evil doings, and mystery is what I believe an urban, or contemporary, fantasy should be.
I cannot wait to read the continued adventures of Jackson, Evelyn, Richard, Nicole, Vicky, and Elliot in book #4, Silver Bullet.
It took a while before things got really good but they really got good. It also took me a while to warm up to Jackson's pouty boy personality but he grew on me. I enjoyed the characters from the first two books showing up although I was disappointed in Vicky's character, a bit. She didn't seem like the same girl and her relationship with Anderson other than being his boss is cruelly left hanging. I think their heads are in the sand on that one and hopefully this will be dealt with in the next installment. I really love Richard and his relationship with the equally dominant Jackson is fun. Definitely my favorite book of the series so far. Four and a half stars thanks to the second half of the book.
Jackson’s brother Anderson shows up on his door step one day asking for his help. Anderson is a part of the Inquisition. The Inquisition was going to infiltrate a rogue group of Fenerec. Fenerec are werewolves but they don’t like to be called that and it could be very dangerous to anyone who does. just saying.
Jackson wasn’t supposed to participate in the killing of the Fenerec he was only there to drive his brother’s truck known as the Red Beast. But things don’t always go as planned. Jackson finds a young female Fenerec that has been injured. Jackson is not the kind of person to not help someone in need. Besides he doesn’t have anything against the Fenerec as he was married to one.
Jackson’s wife and unborn daughter was killed in a car accident. Years later he learns that they may have been murdered. Jackson is out raged when he hears this and vows to find out who killed his wife and daughter and make them pay if it is the last thing he ever does. Jackson’s search for his wife and daughter’s killers opens up roads and secrets he never expected. His investigation puts him into danger on more than one occasion and leaves him close to death.
Blood Diamond is a fast paced read that had me hooked from the first page. Like its predecessors it is action packed from beginning to end. The action just keeps on rolling with twists after twists that keeps you guessing right up to the end. Blood Diamond has witches, wizards and werewolves with a few twists added in. I love the twist on witches and wolves and their magic and how it works.
I would recommend Blood Diamond to all paranormal fans especially anyone who are into witches, wizards and werewolves. One click your copy of Blood Diamond today!
R.J. Blain is a zany writer. She likes things to come out of left field and smack you on the head. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's too much. The number of times this dude nearly dies is pretty funny, really. She also spends a lot of time on word-for-word snark-filled dialogue. There was a little too much of that in this book. I enjoyed the characters, but the writing pounded me over the head with the inside jokes between the band of supernatural BFFs. And the ending was so disjointed. There was no lead-up for the story to end the way it did. It was illogical, and storytelling demands that the logic within the story make sense. You can world-build all kinds of crazy rules, but you have to follow them as a writer, or you piss off readers. The author built a story line that was iron-clad, then randomly says "surprise!" at the end. I love this writer for her humor and her lovable characters, and I hope she works at her craft. She could be amazing someday.
Loved it! This story pretty much ticked all my boxes. I was a little concerned going into it after reading the first two Witch & Wolf books and being rather disappointed with how they ended. I was also a little leery of the male POV after the previous books were female POV since I've found that it can change the tone of the series depending on how the author writes. Very happy to say my worries proved unfounded. This book even managed to improve my views of the previous books with how the previous characters were incorporated into the story.
I just admit that I've already read this before as part of the Witch & Wolf Omnibus edition, but as I'm a fan of the author I bought it as a standalone too.
I adore R.J. Blain's writing. The characters are so well-crafted that it's like reading about old friends, and although you can easily read each book in this series as a standalone, reading them all adds deeper, richer layers to each story. The plots always flow smoothly and with a good pace and the dialogue cracks me up at times.
I had to read this twice because I was so eager to find out what happened that I read too quickly and had to pause and rewind. Interesting story and arc, the characters are consistent with other books and the world of wolves and witches holds together well.
I could not put it down. Ever. Jackson and Evelyn were wonderful protagonists. I want to read even more about them. RJ Lain writes very creative books. Very.
Loved the storyline and the wicked sense of humour of the author, that had me in fits of laughter throughout. Well worth the read and tho I enjoyed all the books in the series thus far this one has definitely become my favourite.
Love Dante and absolutely adore Evelyn! Including others from past stories helps build the scenery around the two new characters. And yet…a totally new mystery and adventure. I felt their emotions and was thrilled with the ending.
My problem is that I've been reading the stories out of order. This one confused me at first with Jackson actually being Dante. I enjoyed the story, though it's too long winded! Now I know what led to Vicky's squirrel story!
Blood Diamond is the third book in the Witch & Wolf series of books. WARNING!! If you have not read Winter Wolf or Inquisitor there may be a few spoilers in this review for those books. This book is about Dante Jackson Emmett Anderson. The story starts out with Dante waiting for his crew, who are members of the Inquisition. While they are working for the Inquisition, the team is made of Dante, who is a witch, and 9 others who are all Fenerec, which are werewolves in this series of books. The Inquisition crew has been sent out to eliminate a pack of rogue werewolves who are preying on tourists in a national forest area. While waiting for the crew, Dante does not want to look at the pictures of the targets, or his fellow crewmembers, in case it activates his talent for seeing the dead. But when it is time to check the pack that was to be eliminated, all but one of the werewolves are dead. A lone female is left alive. Then without waiting till time to check on the pictures of his crew, he goes ahead and discovers they are all dead as well. So Dante decided to go save the woman. There he finds her and all kinds of trouble.
This book is awesome!! It started out in the middle of this assignment and so it starts out with action. Then it backs off a little and allows the read to get to know some background of the characters and for the characters to develop more. I think this is a great book, and series for anyone who likes to read paranormal stories, and for lots of other people who like some kind of adventure to their stories. I will read this book, along with the first two books again.
I’m giving this book 5 fangs.
Reviewer for Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock.
Dante has the ability to sense dead people and we are introduced to him as he is waiting for a fight between his brother’s pack and another pack. He steps up and saves the only surviving enemy and starts a whole chain reaction. From there, without any spoilers, there is romance, tension (lots of), the Inquisition, revenge, and a whole range of characters that will keep you reading into the wee hours of the night.
Dante thinks he is so much less of a character than he really is. He is so gentlemanly, especially with so much tension going on. I do like how there is no sex, this is a book full of action and thrills. I really like how you have both a romance that although sudden makes sense when you think about it, and a revenge story.
The more I read of R.J. Blain’s work, the more I love it. I like how this series progress in a different direct from most books you read. The books link together but they are also done in a way that you don’t have to read the other books first. But I strongly recommend reading them, they just make the series so much better.
I received this book for free from the Reading Addiction Virtual Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.
I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

Holy Wow!!! This book was fantastic!!! Blain and her writing reaches out and touches you somewhere you definitely don't expect! This book will take you on a roller coaster of emotions! I think that this book was the best of the three in this series so far. I highly recommend that you read books 1 and 2 prior to reading this one.
Jackson is a witch. He is able to know the names of the dead with his powers. One pack of werewolves is trying to take out another. When Evelyn becomes a sole survivor, Jackson feels he must rescue her. There are sparks between Evelyn and Jackson. Will they act on them?
I can not wait for the next book in this series! This series will not disappoint you! I recommend these books to anyone that likes urban fantasy paranormal!!!!
Blood Diamond was-- by far-- the best book of this excellent series. The complexity of the plot line, and the slow unveiling of Jackson's powers were very well done! Speaking of Jackson, aka: Dante, if it weren't for bad luck, he wouldn't have any at all-- I cringed for every time he ended up in the hospital. And, on a cameo note: I adored Richard in Winter Wolf, and I've fallen more in love with his character during this book. Some of the situations were outrageous, but the Over-the-top scenarios give the writer an opportunity to shine with witty dialogue and endearing characters.
Although this book contained some noticeable edit errors, and a logic error with wolves smelling lies, it was a great wrap up to a favorite series, and deserving of full stars
RJ Blaine has written the most wonderful series. I couldn't put down any of the Witch & Wolf books. I never knew what would happen next. All three books had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I do love book 3 the most. The characters were loving, tough, loyal, fierce and I fell in love with all of them. At times what was happening in the story seemed so far fetched I didn't see how it would fit in, but it always did. I wish it wasn't over and hope there will be a book 4! I want more of where they go from here. Thank you for this wonderful journey.
I am so in love with everything about this series. I can't beleive how much better each novel gets and how much more connected to the characters I get. I love the world that RJ Blain has created for us.
This one is emotional and action packed. It will tug at your heart strings and bring you hope and you will root for the characters til the very end.
A Wonderful Paranormal/Fantasy Series that I can't get enough of.
