In the year 1092, relative peace has settled between the kingdoms of Scotland and England. King Malcolm’s niece, Heather, finds herself unable to forget the handsome Norman knight, Theo Charbonneau, despite the fact that he previously took her in hand when she misbehaved.

Meeting him by chance on her birthday, she finds herself in trouble with him yet again, and vows never to forgive him. But Theo has other ideas. He seeks to win her heart, for no other woman can match her in beauty and spirit. From her long auburn locks to her seductive brown eyes, he finds himself captivated.

When she and her cousin are captured by Scottish rebels and taken north, he uses all his powers to seek her return, for he intends to marry her. But can Heather learn to abide by his rules and submit to his dominant nature?

Another great book by Maryse Dawson, of Norman’s and Scots. The characters are strong as well as the storyline. Heather is especially naughty and needs spankings, to keep her in line. I actually laughed out loud with this one. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

A quick read, the author manages to weave historical facts and events into a story that is really more about sex and possessions rather than plot, but attention to details such as medieval English expressions of speech give it a delightful authenticity that is fun to read. Recommendation: enjoy with a jar of soothing gel or lotion nearby!

This story is the second in a series, but could be read standalone. The story seems to weave history and romance. (Although I don’t know my history so I don’t know if it is historically accurate.) The new romance between Heather and Theo was fun and sexy. It was also nice to get an update on Rhonda and Leon.

THE JOURNEY OF HEATHER AND THEO

The story is a continuation of Rhona and will pick up at Carlisle Castle in the winter of 1092. It is Heather’s birthday and what starts out as a wonderful day with the gift of a horse, will quickly turn dangerous when said horse is spooked and Heather cannot reign her in and finds Theo rescuing her. Oh but the feisty girl can’t just be nice and say thank you, she has to get an attitude and Theo will take her in hand.

There is a love-hate relationship between Heather and Theo, but that is on her part, he wants her, but he also isn’t afraid to take her to task and roast her naughty bottom, and she justly deserves it each time. While she honestly is attracted to him, she is miffed by his heavy-handedness.

The plot will have several encounters with Heather and Theo, and eventually, they will admit their feelings and decide to marry if Donald will allow it. There are several intense moments including when Heather and Rhona leave the castle safety and are kidnapped. The danger is always present due to two Kings, Malcolm of Scotland, and William Rufus of England, battling on land and control.

Married life for Heather doesn’t stop her from her rash behavior and trying to sneak around her husband’s authority. She never can get away with it, but she foolishly disobeys. When one of the staff of the household comes down sick with a high fever, and it is diagnosed as ague, she is instructed not to leave the castle or go near the sick girl’s home. The dangers are life-threatening, and this time her disobedience nearly cost her her own life.

“His dominance never failed to get her emotions spiraling, and even though a spanking hurt; there was an intense feeling of pleasure involved. She couldn’t fathom why she felt this way, but it was the truth.”

The story will also have more on Rhona and Leon. When Heather and Theo marry, they will also make their home at Carlisle Castle, and so the cousins will have each other being married to brothers.

There is chemistry and sparks between Heather and Theo, even if at first it is a love/hate emotion, it will change. The story is full of angst, anger, dubious consent, with feisty Scottish lasses and dominant Norman Knights. There are several spanking scenes and a couple of intimate scenes. I look forward to the next book in The Moorland Maidens series.

A charming story of love and danger. Book two of The Moorland Maidens series is set just after book one, in the 11th century, and is set close to the border between Britain and Scotland. There are daring knights, scoundrels, and two naughty maidens. This novella covers the love story of Heather and Theo and I wish it were longer. It is sweet, funny, and full of action. I enjoyed revisiting all the characters from the first book, but this could definitely be read as a standalone. The book is well researched and this talented author brings this time to vivid life for the reader. I could practically feel the warmth of the fire in the great hall! The ending hints at another book in the series and I look forward to continuing this wonderful story.

Once again this author amazed me with her writing style and characters. I loved this story. It is true to its timeperiod which shows that the author has made her research and I like that. It is written with heart and passion and that shows in the storyline and plot. I like the characters and how they develop. Nothing is rushed and the spanking gives it a hint of kink that makes it more steamier and hot.
Theo and Hearther are two amazing persons that are attracted to each other but they have to give in and dare to take the trouble that will come with their relationship. Heather is a free spirit and Theo has to tame her a bit.
Keep up this amazing writing style and be true to your characters, Maryse Dawson! Loved it!

I enjoyed this sweet fun story. The girls just can't help themselves. They find trouble or trouble keeps finding them. And the consequences are always the same. All the characters are well written and described. There are plenty scenes to laugh with! Theo and Heather are meant to be together. He minds her whether she wants him to or not. There are some disciplinary spankings and lots of love and hot spicy sex. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and I highly recommend it. A sweet interesting fun love story.

Heather is the second book in the Moorland Maidens series, but it can be read independently. This story is about a strong-willed lass named Heather encountering and falling for her crush via a series of naughty adventures. We also get to learn a little about her cousin Rhonda's sweet but spicy relationship with her husband (which I assume was the focus of the first book.)This tale not only sets her bottom on fire, but your heart too!

Heather and Theo's story is a cute little story. I haven't read the first book and this book alludes to some history in their relationship and how they met in the first book. The girls do love to find trouble together and I have always enjoyed this period of history. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
