Do you have a hard time making decisions? Do you avoid situations out of fear of what others will think? Do you procrastinate so much that it interferes with your daily life? Do you give up easily if things get tough? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you might just be a perfectionist. Veteran journalist and accomplished athlete Kim Foster Carlson gives you the tools to overcome the obstacles that have been holding you back from living your best life.
I don’t understand the low ratings this book got. It was great in my opinion. As someone who deals/dealt with a high amount of perfectionism (I’m talking restarting whole assignments because an ink mark was made on a page or staying late to make sure my work was error free), this book made me introspect more when I seem to be spending a lot of time on a task and recognize that it’s ok to go for “good enough” when the task doesn’t warrant scrutiny. For example, it helped me set boundaries with work where I was starting to bring it home with me. I instead gave myself a deadline at work to finish whatever I was doing regardless of how it looked and left and leave that stuff there. I was also a pretty nervous kid growing up so it was nice to have reassurance that I’m not being judged by everyone for every single thing I do. At least not by people who I care about like my family and friends.
