Summary: This books talks about a kid listing different things they are thankful for, for 12 straight days until Thanksgiving. The first thing the kid is thankful for is, an evening at home with family. The second day they are thankful for two sacks of apples. The third day they are thankful for three fall squash. The forth day they are thankful for four golden buckles. The fifth day they are thankful for five piles of leaves. Each day the kid is thankful for something new as well as everything they were thankful for the day before. The list goes on with listing different things they are thankful for up to 12 days before Thanksgiving.

Evaluation: This is a good book to give students examples of what they should be thankful for and how they should be thankful for everything and appreciate everything they have in life. This book is a good book for younger students to read such as 2-4th graders or so. I like this book because younger kids can relate to this book because it is a younger kid saying what they are thankful for. I also like this book because the illustrations in the book match well, with what the text is talking about.

Lesson: This book would be a good book to teach about commas and where commas should be placed correctly. It is important to point out to students that commas go where something is being listed with other things as it shows in this book. This book can also be used for a lesson about looking at the illustrations and deciding what each page is talking about by using context clues and looking at the illustrations.

What a darling little book that Jenna Lettice has published in The 12 Days of Thanksgiving! It takes the format of The 12 Days of Christmas and applies it to the Thanksgiving holiday. Once you start reading you can't help but get in the spirit and sing along.

There aren't 12 Days of Thanksgiving. Thank God there aren't 12 days of Thanksgiving.
It's fine for what it is but feels like...overkill. Something unique about this very bland family's celebration that somehow lasts 12 days would have helped.

🍁Book Quote:

"On the tenth day of Thanksgiving, I was thankful for:
Ten uncles baking,
Nine aunts arriving,
Eight loved ones hugging,"
