HIT-GIRL IS BACK. The pint-sized Punisher-meets-Polly-Pocket has left America behind and set off to serve justice around the world. First stop: Colombia. A mother seeking vengeance for the murder of her child enlists Hit-Girl to destroy his killer, but Mindy has bigger plans for Colombia's most feared hitman.

(B-) 71% | Satisfactory Notes: Frenzied art, faint plot to start (our antihero's lonely), but just an excuse to get murder-profuse: a story in-name-only.
Mindy is still doing the Hit-Girl but it's not as good when she was working with her dad or Kick-Ass. Seeking a new partner she finds herself caught up with the Colombian cartels.. did I say caught up? I meant slaughtering the Colombian cartels. I'm a like....what! Hit-Girl's back. Yahhooo! Then I read it. It's not that it's bad... it just hasn't evolved in anyway since the original series. Nowhere near as funny and the art (sorry Ricardo López Ortiz, with the very cool name), the art doesn't really do the over the top killing, blood and guts, and justice. 7.5 out of 12, a very firm Three Star read still. 2019 read
Hit-Girl: the hyper-violent teen ninja “superhero” we saw kick ass with, erm, Kick-Ass in, er, Kick-Ass. Now she’s back doing what she does best: killing bad guys, this time in Colombia for no reason. Is there anything more to this book than that? Noooooooooooope. It’s just that uninspired!
Mark Millar can write blood-soaked and brainless but fun comics like Nemesis or even the first Hit-Girl book but he utterly fails to produce anything remotely entertaining with Hit-Girl in Colombia. The action is dull rubbish, the characters are one-dimensional nobodies and the paper-thin story is repetitive and boring.
Hit-Girl is never in any real danger at any point and she’s got no skin in the game so the stakes are exactly zero - oh the non-tension! There’s some drek about a mother after revenge for her dead son that was a feeble attempt at giving this nonsense some artificial purpose and it fell completely flat. The ending is too pat and unconvincing.
Don’t expect the interior art to look anything like Amy Reeder’s cool covers - Ricardo Lopez Ortiz’s art is scratchy, cheap anime-style drawing that was wholly unappealing and ugly.
Maybe Jeff Lemire’s take on the character in the next book - in where else but Canada, eh? - might be better unless it’s just more of the same that we got here. I’ll give Mindy this: she’s got good taste in comics. She’s a fan of Tom King’s Batman - and that’s what I’d recommend reading over Shit-Girl in Colombia.
This was so terrible I had to double check that Mark Millar wrote this. It made me physically angry at what a piece of shit this was. I like the rest of the Kick Ass series. There's zero story here. Hit-Girl goes to Columbia and kills a bunch of gang members. It reminded me of Luthor Strode in its hyper-violence, lack of story and terrible artwork. Ortiz draws cartoony anime characters with dumb expressions that all look dirty from the amount of lines on their faces. Hit-Girl is now a super-strong young girl who can chop people in half with an ax and rip car doors off their hinges. The only redeeming quality to the book were the Amy Reeder covers. They were spectacular.
My first and last read of Hit-Girl. The story was basically mindless action and violence. No character moments and no stakes/tension. The art was alright but not my favorite
It's great to have Hit-Girl back! Kick-Ass has retired and now she's looking for a new partner. However, she gets a case in Colombia and off she goes to get a whole wack of drug lords and gangs. Tons of violence with eyes popping out of exploded heads but the humour doesn't hit the mark of the original series. It has a flippant tone and some good oneliners but not the top-quality humour of the first. I can't wait for the second volume as she's off to Canada next time and who else could be writing it but Jeff Lemire!
Never read a hit girl comic before, loved this one instantly.
When I saw this and the new Kick Ass coming out last year, I was worried I would have to start from the original series in order to understand whats happening now. NOT THE CASE. Hit girl gives us a small history lesson on the original story but quickly jumps into doing her own thing now. And shes going on tour! This new series is an anthology, with a new writer in every city (The first being Mark Millar) This story was fun, sassy, and more badass than I had dreamed. There's even this cool part where she talks about reading Tom Kings Batman, its great! Don't really have any complaints. The story was great, the art fit the series pretty spot on, and I'm excited to see what the other writers can do.
It's been a while since I've checked in with the Kick-Ass universe and I'm so glad to be back. "Hit-Girl, Volume 1: In Columbia" has her beginning a world tour of bloody justice and vengeance as only she can dole out. Here, she free's a prominent gang psychopath murderer and forces him to join her in a killing spree. As her plan becomes clear, the stakes get higher and higher until it reaches an insane crescendo. I can't wait for the next stop: Canada. The great white north is about to turn blood red!
This book felt like it was produced by Adult Swim. Tonally, you can tell that this story was definitely written by Mark Millar. The story was full of over-the-top action and violence. But this one locked majorly in the art department. It’s hard to go from JRJR’s art to most other things though, to be fair. Excited for Lemire’s writing in the next volume!
I was initially unsure how much I might enjoy Hit-Girl in Colombia but I was very pleasantly surprised. While I don't mind lots of blood and violence that isn't a particular draw for me. I like stories and characters, and if violence is part of it, okay.
The character of Hit-Girl is wonderful. Not particularly deep (though she has a couple of profound comments) but very much a fun personality as long as you aren't a target. She is snarky and seems to fluctuate between a typical 12 year old and a middle-age business person.
The story is both over-the-top and very basic, but in a fun and engaging way. The vengeance at the heart of the story is both understandable and extreme, yet ultimately the message is that people are not inherently bad and with hope everyone can be "good."
I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quick fun read with good visuals and a snarky protagonist.

The artwork is still crap, but from a different artist. It's the writing that sucks hard. It doesn't resemble the Hit-Girl of old, nor is it entertaining. Killing shouldn't be this shallow. Mindy fought crime before, but here she's just bloodthirsty. This feels like a cash grab. Well, onto volume 2. Just kidding.
Mindy needs a side-kick. Unfortunately, Dave is retired and replacing him hasn't worked out. She heads for Colombia where she hires the murderous Mano, a wanted man. Mindy prmises to free him if he joins forces in her fight against crime.
Βέβαια μιλώντας για το σενάριο και τους χαρακτήρες, θα πρέπει να σημειωθεί ότι εδώ ο Millar επιστρέφει με μια nerd ηρωίδα. Το νέο Hit-Girl είναι γεμάτο αναφορές στη nerd και pop κουλτούρα, όπως θα έπρεπε να είναι και το Kick-Ass αν δεν έκανε την ανεξήγητη κίνηση ο Millar να βάλει πρωταγωνίστρια μια βετεράνο που κοροϊδεύει τους superheroes. Η Hit-Girl είναι μια αυθεντική nerd, που γίνεται superhero γιατί διαβάζει comics και θέλει να μοιάσει στους αγαπημένους της superheroes, αλλά και να πολεμήσει το έγκλημα της περιοχής της. Με αυτό τον τρόπο ο Millar επαναφέρει μια εναλλακτική superhero, που μπορούμε να την διαβάσουμε και ως κριτική ή παρωδία όλου του αντίστοιχου είδους. Τι πιο κοντινό στον original Kick-Ass;
Me entretuvo.
The baddest little vigilante in America goes international in this outrageous new series from comic book legend Mark Millar.
Hit-Girl is the moniker of Mindy McCready, a pre-teen vigilante killer who is the Kick-Ass universe’s most effective and terrifying hero. Introduced early on in the first volume of the Kick-Ass comic, Mindy was a 10-year-old girl who had been indoctrinated by her father, Big Daddy, into becoming an expert killer and crime fighter. Despite an attempt to live a normal life after the death of her father, Mindy has reverted to her vigilante ways with her trademark extreme violence and sassy attitude.
Following the events of the Kick-Ass 3 comic, Hit-Girl has decided to take her vigilante gig international and bring her version of justice to criminals around the world. However, with her partner, Dave Lizewski, the original Kick-Ass, retired, and his replacement (a young man Hit-Girl randomly recruited off the street) deciding to quit in the face of armed criminals, Hit-Girl is all on her own. With a request for help in Colombia looking too big to handle by herself, Hit Girl decides to recruit a partner as deadly and deranged as herself.
Enter Fabio ‘Mano’ Mendoza, the most ruthless and dangerous hitman in Palmira, Colombia. Freeing him from imprisonment, Hit-Girl ‘convinces’ Mano to help her with her mission, utilising an explosive device to keep him in line. Armed with an array of advanced and insanely destructive weapons, Mano helps Hit-Girl turn all of the city’s gangsters into corpses. But what will happen when Hit-Girl forces Mano to target his own gang?
I was curious, but not really invested in this thing. Millar, and I presume the rest of the writers of the this run, have completely forgotten how to write Hit-girl. Instead they're going for the "12 year old Deathpool with HQ characteristics" personality. Why even bother at that point?
Well, for starters, on my part, the few elements in Kick-Ass I appreciated made me believe a stand-alone story with Hit-girl could work. Maybe one of these days they revive these characters and do something with them but... yeah, it doesn't look like they've upgraded much from the issues presented here so I'm not holding my breath.
Yeah, this shit was bad even for Millar levels. Especially for Millar levels, look: he was never an outstanding writer to begin with, but he knew his one or two tricks to make for engaging storytelling. This sucks...
Here's a comic book equation. Take the uniqueness of Kick-Ass and subtract the driven plot. You end up with something like this Hit-Girl (global tour) series. It doesn't REALLY need to happen, but if the Kick-Ass-iverse is to continue it must go somewhere.
The original Kick-Ass has retired. Mindy is having a rough time finding a replacement that is as into the retribution angle as she is. Does she go lone vigilante or does she pick up a partner along the way? Maybe there's another choice. Take someone who's already well versed in killing and force them (similar to a Suicide Squad contract) to kill ALL the bad people they know.
Throw in some Russian made 'smart weapons' and you have the start of the global tour by Hit-Girl.
Maybe I should be thankful they wrote Colombia in the right way. Cause there were so many inaccurate things about Colombia there that I had to stop thinking it was there. For the record Colombia is not Mexico, and is not the Latino neighborhoods on USA. Also, Palmira, really? Fells like random. There were a couple of nice looks to real Palmira, tho. Anyway I liked the rage of Hit Girl and how all the stuff ended for the kid. But it was a really plain story, where is the real plot? There was so much lost potential there.
This of course has the expected ultraviolence, energy and destruction of body parts, but it's missing a bit of the DNA of the originals. There was little creative about the actual script – certainly there is none of the clever cussing I might have expected – and the artwork, while having some nicely graphic deaths (the microwave gun, especially), was messy with needless lines, and sometimes really hard to work out. It wasn't my idea of an ideal match, art-wise. But that's a minor quibble really, as this is still kinetic fun, and very much NSFW.
