Read this every year during Lent! Thomas Merton could have been writing in 2023. But the excerpts in this book were written between the 1950s and 1964. They were prophetic and spoke to the culture now and then. Timeless work.
Some Merton passages are a little difficult to understand or created a desire within me to know more context. But those passages are few. This is a book well-worth reading each Lent. And by the second consecutive Lent, you might just get those more difficult passages.
