This book must be the basis for any serious study of the life of Emma Willard. Written by one of her students, and carefully researched, it gives a unique perspective on her life. Although dated, it highlights her character and the overall themes and goals of her life. I would like to do some more research myself to understand the basis of what I see as her character flaw that is the most difficult to swallow in this day and age. Why did she not think that enslaved people should be free?
