When Charles returns from a two-week vacation trip he learns that the Pembrokes are moving and have rented their house to the Powells who also need Charles to look after their children.
I've been watching the 80s television comedy show "Charles in Charge," and when I found out there were two books based off of the series, I knew I had to read them. The first book was based off the pilot episode from season 1. This second book published in 1987 covers the first episode of season 2 when the show was slightly revamped with a brand new family needing Charles' help. However, only the first four chapters retell that episode. The remaining parts of the book are all brand new which was refreshing. I was worried the entire book was going to be that episode. The rest of book is all about Charles settling in with his new family the Powells and he and Buddy settling into being college sophomores. I liked all of the 80s references that I'm not sure some readers in 2024 will recognize. Heck, many won't even know the tv show "Charles in Charge!"
