Marjorie’s apple pie is award winning, but is it worth dying for?
All Marjorie Vanhorn desires is to make people happy with her award-winning pies—and to be kissed by the delectable county medical examiner, Anderson Swift. Marjorie’s nemesis is Eloise, the newly appointed county fair organizer, she is blackmailing contestants to get their award-winning recipes. She really wants Marjorie’s apple pie recipe, and if she doesn’t get it, she is willing do whatever it takes to stop Marjorie from winning more blue ribbons. After being released, jailbird Vega disappears. Kelli and her son Joey are finally free of her physically abusive husband. Nobody misses him, not even his parents. When Vance, Vega’s twin brother is released from prison, he heads for Marjorie's house where he suspects he might find his brother...and a little fun. Marjorie has no desire to be Vance’s fun.

Sharon is a best-selling Northwest author who has published twenty-nine stories and they are available in eBook, paperback and published in foreign languages, and on audiobooks. She has hit Amazon’s top fifty ranking and her books have been #1 in sales for contemporary romance, action adventure, and non-fiction animal books.
When not writing, she can usually be found either curled up in her recliner with her cat and a good book, or in the kitchen baking sourdough bread or bagels. Her latest adventure is writing about her love of animals.
Marjorie Vanhorn is a pie lover’s dream! She is known for her award winning APPLE PIE TO DIE FOR and her kind and generous nature. Unfortunately, she is about to take that caring and protective nature a little too far, okay, a lot too far, but keeping her deed a secret won’t be easy, especially when her boyfriend is the county medical examiner.
Sharon Kleve has taken a seemingly cozy mystery with quirky characters and turned a lovely pie baking maven into a woman of mystery with a much darker and edgier side. Of course her pie recipes are a secret, but sweet Marjorie just may be hiding a secret far greater than what kind of apples she uses or how long she bakes those magical pies!
Marjorie proves that even the sweetest among us can have a less than delightful side, but no one could accuse her of not being nice! Short, sweet with a little tart kicker at the end, this little mystery has its own secret ingredients that make it stand out as a winner!
I received a complimentary copy from Sharon Kleve!

I was given this book by the author to review as I like romance books.
This was a quick and fast read. I loved the characters and the way that Marjorie makes Apple Pies and wants to fall in love with the Medical Examiner but she is hiding a secret. What that secret is, you will have to read Apple Pie to Die For.
Definitely will be reading more from this author as I love her style of writing.
Marjorie loves to bake and she loves to help people. Eloise who is blackmailing a lot of people in the county fair is found dead. Marjorie is the last person so see her alive. Can they find out who killed her?
Kelli and her son are now away from her abusive husband Vega. He has vanished and no one knows where he is but Marjorie does.
When Anderson is finally making his moves on Marjorie she is loving it. She adores that man but she does have to hurry home to take care of Vega and when his twin brother Vance shows up at her house she has to take things further but what if Anderson finds out?
This was a fun, fast read and I love this authors writing. I was on the edge of my seat seeing what was going to happen to Vega. The characters and story are great.
Delightfully fresh and humorous....Marjorie runs a popular bakery in town and striving to win first place at the fair for her pies. She starts dating the town hottie, Anderson, while keeping her accidental vigilantism a secret. Looking forward to the next installment and watching her relationship with Anderson grow.
Ms. Kline weaves an interesting cozy. It starts out with believable, likable characters, a love interest, a villain or two, warps into strange behavior in the heroine and ends in a way I never foresaw. I received a free copy to garner my honest opinion.
I WON’T GO ANYWHERE---WELL—MAYBE TO PRISON, BUT NOT TODAY
Once again I was thoroughly entertained and found myself laughing out loud numerous times reading this quirky and page-turning story. Ms. Sharon Kleve always has the best feisty but charming female characters along with sexy and delightful men. Oh, and don’t forget, always an animal or two.
Marjorie Vanhorn is the owner of a bakery that has a reputation for the best pies around, even making it on a “place not to miss list.” But Marjorie is harboring a secret too, and it has nothing to do with her amazing award-winning pies. Don’t let this sweet, caring, and generous woman fool you; she is cunning and creative too.
“You know, I’ve never met anyone like you before. Your generosity and willingness to help others are amazing.” –Anderson Swift
If you are Marjorie’s friend, she will love you, protect you, and help keep you safe to the best of her abilities—even if it is crossing a line. Sometimes a person’s comeuppance is justly due.
Anderson Swift, the county medical examiner, is sweet on Marjorie, and his gentle persistence will pay off with a few dates and plenty of romance. Together they have great chemistry that doesn’t require a prescription for love and happiness.
“I’ve always known that you were special, but today confirms how truly kind you are. I’m going to keep asking to spend more time with you until you say yes and then I’m never letting you go.” –Anderson
There is trouble, ok several problems that our talented baker must deal with. A fair judge blackmailing for her award-winning pie recipe and an abusive man or two will cross her path. Greed, abuse, and justice will all work into this tale. True to the saying, “Crime doesn’t pay!”
The story includes a clean romance without any detailed scenes. Throw in plenty of playful banter, ingenious details, and plenty of laughter into this mystery suspense. Just be careful about trying to cross the wrong person, you might become a statistic!
I look forward to the next book in this witty new series.
Marjorie Vanhorn makes fantastic pies. Marjorie also is sweet, selfless and loves to help everyone. However, Marjorie has a secret side to her that would shock everyone. In between making pies, helping everyone, romancing her latest, and probably final, squeeze Anderson, Marjorie perpetrates one heck of a crime. Can she get away with it or will someone, even perhaps Anderson, figure out what is going on and turn on Marjorie?
I am not sure whether I liked this book or not. The characters are well done and definitely quirky. The plot was simple, but still had some interesting twists and turns that kept my interest. What I found difficult to accept was its brevity. The book, really a short novella, seemed rushed, especially at the ending. There just was not enough time for anything to occur slowly, and everything sort of just stumbled out/along as quickly as possible. I think I would have preferred a slowed paced, longer book. The story line and plot were quite interesting and good, but there just was not enough time to develop it all well and bring everything to a nice, satisfying end. In fact, I found the ending also kind of abrupt and a bit unsatisfying. I have read and enjoyed many other books/novellas by this author., so I know she can definitely tell a good story. As I said, in this case, I felt the story was too rushed and too short to satisfy me well. I hope she writes more about Marjorie and her adventures, but I also hope the stories are not quite as rushed as this one was. I received this from the author to read and review.
Okay, so I don't know whether to like this book or not. There is soooo much going in just over 100 pages and the storylines take a few weird turns here and there.
But besides that, the writing is light, engaging and the story reads like a train. Marjorie is painted as a sweet, innocent girl with a "secret". It's described in such a way that the secret seems silly, so it's quite a shock when we learn the truth. But in the story, it seems almost natural. The author has an eerie way of writing so that it seems like everything that happens is supposed to happen, that it's normal and that we should have expected it all along.
Would I recommend it? Hmm, I do think so. It's very fun and creative writing and the story certainly has some surprises in store. But I would add the caveat that it's a weird story with some murderous and unexpected developments.
I am always pleased when an email drops into my mail box from Sharon Kleve. I always know I am in for a fun and romantic well written read.
This time its a fun mystery story- only just over 100 pages - great to read in afternoon.
Marjorie who runs a bakery famous for her apple pies is portrayed as sweet as her apples- but there is more to this there is a secret - we all love secrets - readers will have to read the story to find out.
She starts to go out with a guy called Anderson who is a medical examiner - interesting to find out how this relationship pans out if there is another book in the series.
There is espionage, jealousy, all sorts of goings on, romance and a secret all in the pie mix.
A really enjoyable book. Thank you Sharon for asking me to review.
Marjorie Vanhorn makes pies at her shop "To Die For Pies" and has also begun a relationship with the county medical examiner, Anderson Swift.
But Marjorie has a pretty big secret that she is hiding from everyone and it's more than the apple pie recipe that Eloise Snyder is after!
I really enjoy these quick stories by the author as they are full of laughs and things that I truly do not expect!
Marjorie was such an awesome character and I totally was not expecting the basement twist! But MG did I ever have laughs from start to finish with everything that happened down there.
I also was laughing with the apple pie recipe and what ended up happening there too.
So I am super curious to know if Anderson knows everything that happened!!
Definitely looking forward to more in this series!
Marjorie owns a Bakery and makes the best pies in the state she is sweet and kind she loves her friends and employees. Her best friend Kellie has been abused by her husband and finally gotten away from him and she and her son are much happier since he ran away. Marjorie has attracted the attention of the new guy in town Anderson who is handsome 6'5 and everything she could want in a man but she is playing a little hard to get. But one day she comes home to find a thief in her house taking her jewelry she is not surprised by who the thief is but that he chose her house something he will regret. This a romantic mystery yet quite entertaining. I was given a copy as a gift by the author. I am providing an honest review without obligation.
Marjorie comes across as so sweet, and that doesn't change throughout the story. But, I have to admit Mrs. Kleve got my attention with 'the secret' hint. When 'the secret' was revealed, it was the last thing I imagined. Okay, it wasn't even on my list of possibilities. It was an ingenious twist to hold my attention to the very end just to see how Marjorie would handle the situation. I'm not going to spoil the story by revealing 'the secret' here. You'll have to read it and find out. If you're looking for a fun read that's not predictable, pick this one up! You won't be sorry.
This one wasn't for me. The fact that Marjorie was breaking the law herself in a really creepy to me way put me off liking her. The romance with Anderson also throws me off because I think Marjorie is just awful. I did like the pie competition and the possible murder of one of the people associated with it. If we didn't have Marjorie with the events that happens at her house I would have liked it better. Sorry but this one was not for me. I received a free copy for which I agreed to post an honest review.
Definitely a different way to go and it was a really fun cozy mystery, that may or may not have consequences. She really was a friend to her best friend that was starting a new life with her son after an abusive relationship. And her boyfriend's name just kept reminding me of a certain Cnn Anchor*lol*Coincidence?hmm..*lol* Anyway, you'll enjoy it and it was a quick read. Just don't change your mind about the pie. So pick up a copy and enjoy and maybe have a slice of pie later too.
Not very fond of this work by Ms. Kleve. I've read quite a few of her books and find this to be trite and unbelievable. I just can't imagine that someone could be aware of the things this woman has done (definitely not very "Betty Crocker" like) and would find them to be endearing traits. Definitely more fairy tale than real life story.
This story is not what I was expecting. And then there was the little surprise at the end. I really like Marjorie and Anderson and am hoping to hear more from them.
This was a very enjoyable read. I few twists that you don't see coming. I hope that we get more of Marjorie and Anderson. I received for an honest review.
Secret recipes and secret deeds and always love. Sharon Kleve always amazes me with her absolutely hilarious stories that always have a twist of some kind in them.
Wonderfully sweet, sexy and hilarious romance. Marjorie is an amazing pie baker with an attraction to Anderson. As their relationship heats up, some very unusual situations fall into Marjorie’s lap. I don’t want to give away the funny twists to this story. Marjorie is great fun, a confident, successful career woman that might not always make the best decisions but we get to enjoy the crazy ride.
Things are going well for Marjorie. She runs the best bakery in town, she's been dating someone new and her pies are literally to die for. When she comea home to find her house being robbed, she comes up with a way to teach him a lesson. A lesson that involves those pies to die for....when he literally dies. What will she do now and how will she keep her secret? I liked what I read of the book, though I was not given the full book to review and i could give a more honest review if I was able to read the entire thing. I like how creative she got with her pies and what did with them. I enjoyed her budding relationship with her beauand like how light thw authir kept even the most serious things. I gave this book a three stars ownlt because I was not able to read ir all.
