This series is a real page turner I enjoyed it from book one through book 10. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a epic fantasy with multiple heros and multiple catch phrases like Bish happens sonovabish and my favorite "Do you know what a good is?" "No do you know what a Venir is ......I look forward to reading more from the world of Bish hint hint.
As the book went on it seemed as if the narrator was just getting tired of reading the book. Put the wrong Characters in the wrong scenes. At some point you could here the keyboard clicking for I think 2 or 3 chapters. He seemed very thirsty towards the end. He tried to add a "click" to a species word pattern, but didn't use it all the time when they were speaking. I eventually did hear the loud tone in the background in book 7 and 8...it is annoying. A few chapters in the beginning were out of place, but not as bad as they were in the Darkslayer audio book.
I liked this series and I believe the audio books do this series more harm than good. The deaths that do occur in this series, I feel need to be more felt than, oh that person dies, that's to bad. If you are looking for a good fantasy, I would strongly suggest reading this series over listening, I do not believe a lot of people would be as patient as I, with the narration issues.
If you are thinking to purchase this Series Two collector's edition, I encourage you to dive right in! You will find no better value in the genre!
Award-winning author, Craig Halloran, published the first volume of "The Darkslayer: Series One" in 2009. Between then and now, he wrote over a million words to tell us the story of this amazing Sword and Sorcery hero and his friends and family. I know that Craig still thinks about this story and its characters to this day.
The full work, including both series, constitutes a worthy epic. I believe the future will recognize "The Darkslayer" as an absolute classic in its genre and field!
Thank you, Craig Halloran, for sharing this amazing tale with us!
Honestly could not put book down for long..for days, till I finished! A true epic, with cliff hangers not at the end,but at each chapter..was constantly on pins and needles with the suspense, the unexpected abundance of wit,and the jackhammer of action all through the series.Thank goodness I bought the series..would've had a heart attack by now with just one book (hate to wait for next story) If you want page-turning,creature walloping adventure, this is your stop!
This is definitely not my sort of book. Usually enjoy the space, opera and sci-fi but I have to admit this is one of the best series I’ve ever read. Make sure you read the first omnibus first. From dwarves to ogres to the Darklings what an amazing ride. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did. Cheers!
I loved this series. The Darkslayer was a true hero. One who stood for truth and justice. I read straight thru the entire set. I just couldn't stop. I mourned over the loss of Mikkel and many others, like Boon. I recommend this entire collection to adventurous spirits everywhere.
I tried... got over halfway through the collection, but I still wasn't invested and was bored. I hate not finishing books but after listening through 30 hours I couldn't make myself listen to the final 20.
