About the author

Kannadasan (24 June 1927 – 17 October 1981) was a Tamil poet and lyricist, heralded as one of the greatest and most important writers in the Tamil language. Frequently called Kaviarasu (English: King of Poets), Kannadasan was most familiar for his song lyrics in Tamil films and contributed around 5000 lyrics apart from 6000 poems and 232 books,[1] including novels, epics, plays, essays, his most popular being the 10-part religious essay on Hinduism, captioned Arthamulla Indhumatham (English: Meaningful Hindu Religion). He won the Sahitya Akademi Award for his novel Cheraman Kadali in the year 1980 and was the first to receive the National Film Award for Best Lyrics, given in 1969 for the film Kuzhanthaikkaga.

It is interesting book written by great poet in tamil .
This book act as value guidance system though the title may suggest for hinduism
But all religion say the same principle and value irrespective of religion name they have .
It is written simple and the person he meet in his life and used their life as example .
Book also bring his views on hinduism with local tamil flavour
Which is unique thing .

சிறப்பான எழுத்து, தத்துவமான வார்த்தைகள்! இந்து மதத்தின் ஆழமான அம்சங்கள் அத்துணையும் அறிய வேண்டி இப்புத்தகத்தை படிப்போருக்கு ஏமாற்றமே காத்திருக்கும். ஏனெனில் ஆசிரியரின் நோக்கம் இந்துமதத்தின் கூறுகள் அனைத்தையும் விளக்குவதல்ல. அவரது குறிக்கோள் சராசரி மனிதனுக்கும் புரியும் வடிவில் எளிய நடையில் இந்து மதத்தின் சிறப்புக்களை எடுத்துக்கூறுவது. அதுவும் தன் பார்வையிலிருந்தும், தனது சொந்த வாழ்க்கை அனுபவத்திலிருந்தும் உணர்ந்தவையை மட்டுமே பதிவு செய்கிறார். மனதை நெகிழச்செய்யும் நிகழ்வுகளையும், மெய்சிலிர்க்கச்செய்யும் சில சம்பவங்களையும் இம்முதற்பாகத்தில் பகிர்ந்துள்ளார் கண்ணதாசன்.

கவியரசரின் கவிநயம் இங்கும் அங்கும் தலைகாட்டுகிறது, வாசிப்பதற்கும் இனிமையாய் உள்ளது. கருத்துக்கள் பலவற்றிற்கு மூதுரையிலிருந்தும் திருக்குறளிலிருந்தும் மேற்கோள் வழங்குகிரார் கண்ணதாசன். ஆனால் எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் விளக்கம் கூறவில்லை, புரிதலுக்கு சற்று கடினமாய் உள்ள சில மேற்கோள்களுக்கு மட்டுமே விளக்கமளிக்கிறார் - உதாரணத்திற்கு வடமொழிச்சொற்றொடர், கம்பனின் வாக்கு போன்றவற்றிற்கு. இந்துமதச் சம்பரதாயங்கள் பல எவ்வாறு துவங்கின, எதற்காக பின்பற்றப்படுகின்றன என்பதையும் குறிப்பிடுகிறார்.

இந்தத் தொகுப்பில் உள்ள அத்தியாயங்களில் படித்ததில் பிடித்தது 'கீதையில் மனித மனம்' மற்றும் 'பாவிகளே பிரார்த்தியுங்கள்'. அடுத்த ஒன்பது பாகங்களையும் படிக்க ஆவலாய் உள்ளேன். மற்ற பாகங்கள் முதற்பாகத்தைக் காட்டிலும் சிறியதாகவே தென்படுகின்றன, ஆனால் கருத்துக்கள் முன்பை போலவே பெரிதாகவே இருக்கும் என நம்புகிறேன்.

Kavignar Kannadasan touches Deep Aspects of - How We must lead our lives , Bringing together Everything that has been - Time and again - preached in Hindu Dharma aiming Peaceful Life.,

Absolutely, Everything That has been said in Hindu Dharma - but put together in an extremely simple way alongside beautiful examples and experiences from his own life!

Aspects like - How endless Desire leads to Unhappiness, How staying unaffected by UPs and Downs in life is important and LOT MORE!

I personally have lot of beautiful answers unveiling to my prevailing questions and I would highly recommend this Series!

First Of All The Author , Kavignar Kannadhasan Was A Non Believer Of God Turned Into A Believer Of God And Religion. It Gives A Clarity About What He Believed , Saw To Become A Believer. The Basic Image 'Arthamulla Indhumadham' Created Was It's Not For Atheists. It's Wrong. It's The Author's Perspective On How The People Saw The Religion.
It's Not Like A Barrier Which Stops A Believer To Become A Atheists. It Speaks About The Impact Of Religion In His/People's Life.

Good elaboration.

This book offers a good elaboration of the Hindu dharma and its religious practices. The purpose behind several beliefs are also touched upon deftly.

I like explainations of spirituality in the book by kannadasan. However, i feel its also sexist toward women, how they to be towards husband is very outdated. Maybe worked during those generation.

The book explained all the spiritual and our culture habits in very short and easy to understand. Kannadasan has written on the religion with many examples. Every human especially Hindus must read this book and see the rational view point of Hinduism and its teachings. I will love to read the next volume. Love the way how Kannadasan explains many things.
