This is a short guido with libretto to the Bellini opera, which I saw this week at the lyric. It is a romantic adventure that is written in ‘Bel Canto’ style that features the virtuoso skills of the lead singers. This is a style with lots of showing by the singers and the artistry was entertaining. The downside of this style is that stories are not as well dev3loped and the libretto was not distinctive. An Italian style love conflict in the middle of the English Civil War. It is an odd story.

The show was fun and it was worthwhile to go through the program.

The music and vocals at the new Met production are so so good, but the story is still so so bad.

I saw this again and I'm bumping it up a star because the vocals are not so so good, they're so so so good!
