When Steve Jax accepted the role of police chief in the semi-rural community where he lives he believed two things. He’d never again have to deal with the horror and violence he’d walked away from as an undercover cop in the city, and no woman would ever infiltrate his heart the way his now dead wife had. How wrong could one man be?
After stepping away from her religious beliefs and returning home, Rhia anticipated leading a quiet, uneventful life. Then she met Steve. He aroused feelings of lust and love within her that Rhia never believed possible. However, loving him comes at a price. When students at the local high school begin to die from an insidious drug invading their peaceful town, Rhia finds herself dangerously positioned between the man she wants to make her own, and a narcissistic woman out to destroy lives for financial gain.
Overcoming past heartbreak is one thing Rhia and Steve need to deal with if their relationship is to succeed. The other challenge they face is far deadlier.
* Playing Jax is a contemporary, romantic suspense novel and book two in the Wylde Shore Series, however, it can be read as a stand-alone novel. The story features a M/F romantic pairing and contains erotic sex scenes with BDSM elements. *
Jan Graham is an author of Contemporary Romance and Romantic Suspense. Her stories contain erotic elements, with some including elements of BDSM. She has numerous published titles to her credit, with more to come once she overcomes her current bout of procrastination. Jan lives in Newcastle, Australia where she writes, reads, feeds her Netflix addiction and drinks coffee with friends. For those who enjoy labels and tags, as well as being an author, Jan is a submissive, an aunt, dyslexic, a lover of all things tempting and naughty (including chocolate), a participant in the BDSM community, a widow, an orphan, and sometimes, a wild child. In short, she is generally a bit of an eccentric who lives her life slightly left of center. You can find out more about Jan and her work by stalking her on the various social media sites where she occasionally hangs out.
wow. what a story. this story will have you on a emotional roller coaster but it's well worth it. having to restart her life over and stop hiding but can she
Read and loved Finding Angel and now we get to see Angel's brother Steve's story several years after the lost of his wife Kathy. It was a good read. Enjoyed Rhia and Steve, the back ground story was even interesting. I look forward to reading several of the secondary's characters stories. Jan Graham has strong characters, good writing that flows, and enjoyable story line. I would say that you could read this as a stand alone book but it brings much more to the understanding of Steve if you have read Finding Angel first.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I mean what more could you want... a sexy ex-nun and bad boy tattooed policeman. Rhia has lost everything so what does this ex-nun do- fall for a dominant man with quite a few hang ups. Steve Jax’s wife died and now he has finally rebuilt his life and thinks he is in a good place. Falling for Rhia was never in the plans. When dangers from Steve’s past threatens the future for him and Rhia what will he do?
I liked the BDSM aspects of this book. I can’t wait for more!!!
** I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review **
Could have been better This story is about an ex-nun and a tattoo-wearing motor-cycle riding Policeman, who end up as neighbours. So much potential.....where did it all go wrong? The story starts with the extensive extensive discussion and description of her flight from England to Australia and its boring. On the H side it is all about his police work and the drug ring they are trying to bust up. The villain is made to be more interesting than anyone else in the book. So at some point the two, h and H do meet and the h goes from a complete innocent to a highly sexualized woman in the blink of the eye.....apparently all it took was a look at his tattoo and that was it. Completely unbelievable and this continues when there is a lot of discussion about whether she's a natural submissive or not with people who are essentially strangers to her, this all happens in a matter of days after this woman has spent 17 yrs or so living the sheltered life of a nun. Its like the author does not care much for believability in her story so why should I look for it in my reading? There's villains upon villains thrown into the story until I was skipping pages looking for a brief glimpse where the h and H are actually talking or together. What an absolute disappointment.
Loved it! I seriously didn't think I was going to like this book as much as I did so i was pleasantly surprised.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the laughter at Rhia's reactions and ideas, Angel and her scheming in concern of Steve and to help Rhia and bring them together; I just wish we could have seen more of Meg and Barry's reaction to Meg's involvement. There were some parts that fell short for me. Rhia falls into insta-lust with Steve without truly understanding it, but that insta-lust brings out the courage in her to try and understand and become a more sexual person, because all she knows is Steve is it for her even if she does not understand it. Steve breaks my heart. He has already lost who he thought was the one and only love of his life and buried his heart with her, thinking all he needs and wants and will ever get again is some sexual relief he gets from a gentleman's club.
