The Kacy Chronicles #4

Transcendent (The Kacy Chronicles, #4)

Rate this book
The countdown to a more intolerant Rodania has begun.

At a ceremony to honour the fallen Strix soldiers, Prince Diruk delivers the ultimate insult, foreshadowing the kind of kingdom Rodania will become when he takes his ailing father’s throne.

Toth believes that the harpy threat will never be over unless the harpies are exterminated. The Nycht mercenary proposes that the Strix combatants pursue the harpies to their home in the caves of Golpa, and Sol and Jordan are the first to volunteer for this dangerous mission. After all, they’ve got Blue and the red colossus on their side. What could go wrong?

But when the remaining medicine is stolen from the King’s dwindling supply, Jordan finds herself with a new and urgent task: get to Charra-Rae and retrieve more medicinal fungus before the King dies.

Too bad that running into her estranged twin along the way throws a massive wrench in the gears. And just when she thought her mother was out of the picture for good, guess who comes calling?

Eohne meets an intriguing Light Elf sent to solve the mystery of the broken magical barrier, but when Sohne’s requests to come home to Charra-Rae grow more insistent, she is soon faced with an impossible choice.

Trouble abounds, not the least of which is that Toth gets thrown in jail and accused of crimes he didn’t commit. It’s disaster upon betrayal, and everyone Jordan loves seems to be in danger. With the impeccable timing only a seer is capable of, Sohne comes to collect on the Unbreakable Promise.

Jordan must give her what she asks for or die.

The truth is, she’d really rather die.

Welcome to Oriceran. The veils between the worlds are thin. Come see what’s on the other side.

We’ve finally come to the last book in this series. What an awesome ride it has been! I must say, I almost got whiplash there were so many unexpected surprises coming from different directions at the turning of each page! I hate for this to be the last book. I really want to know how some of the other characters have faired. They have seemed like friends and I hate for them to leave. This is definitely one of the series of books I will revisit from time to time. Ms. Knorr has done a wonderful job of writing. So much so that I was able to get a clear picture in my mind of the scenery and characters. I highly recommend reading this series for all fantasy lovers. I would hate for anyone to miss out on the great reading experience.

I have received this review copy in exchange for an honest review. Knorr & Carr have created a really good read in Transcendent, the fourth and final book of the Kacy Chronicles. I enjoyed the first three books in the series. As each book builds upon the previous book, they are best read in order. They were good reads, well thought out, and exciting to experience. With Transcendent Knorr & Carr have wrapped up the storyline. I want more stories in this Oriceran World they write in! Although I don’t want to give any spoilers, I will say I loved the situations they placed their characters into, the way tension builds, and how deep plot twists are resolved. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat unable to put the book down, except for a sip of coffee now and then. For anyone who likes fantasy with a bit of SciFi thrown in…this is a definite must read!

Ok, this is just a a “quickie” review. Unfortunately, I’m in in a hospital and asked my husband to post this since I don’t have the time to do better - even though the book definitely deserves it.

Bottom line: five stars. This was one wonderfully fun novel and definitely recommended. It had just what I wanted and was well written and with a great plot and great cast of characters.

Narrator does a good job. His voice fits the fantasy style of the story. He gives a clear performance with good emotional range. I’ve enjoyed listening to each of the books in this series!

This is book 4 and the finale, so be sure to read the previous books first for the full story.

I’ve really enjoyed this series! Loved the world the author created and the characters were great too. Loved all the adventure Jordan and the others get into; lots of fun! I do miss when Blue was a small dragon because I just imagined him so cute! But it’s great he’s taking out harpies now!

I was getting so frustrated that Jordan had information that would help things along, but she just doesn’t say anything. Things were so obvious about how corrupt certain people were, so I’m disappointed that the characters didn’t figure things out sooner. Magical means weren’t needed; they should’ve had some idea about what was going on and done something about it, instead they just kept on letting obvious signs slip by them. Jordan does tend to not think things through though, so I guess that’s the issue with that.

Jordan’s dealing with trying to find more medicine for The King and dealing with secrets from her parents and her past. There’s a bit of sweet romance with Sol going on; they have a lovely connection. Toth and others go off to take out the harpies, but something isn’t quite right with things. Everyone is still trying to figure out how the harpies made it through the magical wards of Rodania. The Nycht’s are still being treated horribly by the Prince. So, there’s a lot going on and I found it all entertaining.

I especially liked the bit of surprise about Ashley, and how he’s involved in the story. Also, the bit of suspense to the story with all the secrets coming out and just how far people will go to keep those secrets. All of it was lots of fun.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed reading about Jordan’s adventures in a magical world! This is the first series I’ve read by this author, so I’m looking forward to checking out more!

This book has outdone itself, in it's ability to entertain.

Jordan, and her family of friends, have gone through so much pain and loss in this final book of the Kacy Chronicles.

There are battles and betrayals, attempted murder and, eventually, murder most foul but, what brings it all together, and tempers the terrible pains of loss, is the faith that one young woman has, in the people that she's learned to love, and to trust with her life.

Transcendent was aptly named.

This book brings so many experiences to the reader, but in such away that, within minutes, it's as if you are there, experiencing everything yourself. This is a wonderful thing, especially for someone like me, who reads a LOT.

Finding not only one book, but a whole series, that can drag me into the story, then wring me dry of all and any emotions, that are felt so strongly by the characters, is actually quite rare, but I've been privileged to have this happen quite often over the last couple of years, as I have tried to catch up with all the new books, and series, published by LMBPN, the Independent Publishing Company, that was founded by Michael Anderle.

This present series - this book itself - has been yet another amazing experience to read and, to be honest with you, there are times, such as right now, that I feel drained, as though I've been put through a wringer of high emotions!

This really IS a good thing for me, and I'm having a wonderful time as I go through the reading list, that lets me experience the Oriceran Universe, in chronological order.

Speaking of which, after I've caught up with some sleep, I'll be going on to start the next series to be read, which is: The Daniel Codex, with book one called: The Artifact Enigma.

I'll be starting this once I've had some sleep then, once I've read this, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of it!

A predictable conclusion, but not one that is unsatisfying. I enjoyed the ride through this series and this final part was no exception.

The character cast was set early on and grows naturally, with all individuals getting enough time for their respective roles and growth. There wasn’t a surprising amount of growth in this book, but the growth seen here is the finishing of the series. It comes to a natural conclusion and ties the characters off in ways that suite them.

As a whole, the series comes to a happy predictable conclusion. The bigger twists were not really unexpected, and to be truthful I would have been put out if it didn’t play out that way did. Sometimes you just want a book that follows a natural narrative to the ending.

All four books in the series show magic in different forms, and this ties all of them together, showing more about connection between people then their respective powers would like. It was nice to see something like that, and I hope to read more of A. L. Knorr’s book in the future.

Overall, a great book, a great series, and a better part of the Oriceran Universe. I’m finding that the books that are not written directly by the universe founders are better than those that are written by them. So, this fits that pattern. Still the whole of the Oriceran Universe is worth checking out, and this portion is definitely a good place to be in it.

Marvelous Finish

I loved this book and it was a great culmination of a totally enthralling story. Firstly the Strix decided to take the fight to the Harpies, with the intention of eninilation of the species. The species was an abomination and should never have existed. Toth found someone important whilst on their travels. Meanwhile, Jordan was sent to fetch medicine for the king and she ended up saving an unexpected person, who just happened to gave the raw materials for the medicine. Everything came to a head when the returning Strix reached home. Traitors were revealed and matters put to right.

OK, but not as attention holding as other Oricerian series.

This series is the fourth of Oricerians series I have read. The others I could hardly put down. The Kacy series did not hold my attention like that.
The things I really disliked about the fourth book was deus ex machina solution. Introducing at the last minute a new, previously unheard of, race that happens to hold the solution to the problem seems an unsatisfying way to bring the story to a close. Especially when this race seems to have no other point in the story line.

Wings To Rule

Jordan continues to be a compelling character who continues to become stronger. I like the action, humor and the real feeling of the characters as I am right there with them on their adventures. Jordan's compassion along with that of others is a hallmark of this series. I am sorry to see the series end but hope there will at least be additional stories of other beloved characters.

Great ending to the series

This was a great action story with some unexpected twists. The characters were well developed throughout the series and there was a great flow from one book to the next. While it's always hard to say goodbye to well loved characters when a series ends,I am looking forward to there possibly being a few spin off series about some of the minor characters that have become favorites.

WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RIDE this 4 book series has been! Another incredible book from author A.L. Knorr! After having read the first 3 kick-ass books in this series this one was a must! Captivating characters. Attention-grabbing storyline. The fourth and concluding book in a multi-book series it picks up where the third book left off, in the middle of things. If you love fantasy this series is a must-read. A.L. Knorr has moved into my list of favorite authors!

Jordan and her friends rescue her dad and head back to Rodania and on the way encounter a harpy.  Finding that the harpies have attached Rodania while they were gone Toth is asked to stay and create an army to fight.  Jordan starts training and helps defend Rodania from the Harpies.  Blue is still around although not as major of a character as he is getting a little large for Rodania!  Still loving this series and can’t wait for the final book.

Awesome conclusion to the story. Jordan continues to have the attitude of gratitude: of selfless acts. Toth has a much stronger role in this story. Eohne continues to be one of the most friendly and enigmatic characters about. Sol's passion for Rodania flares.

Jordan is ever more determined to save Rodania, the place she has grown to love as if she lived there all her life. When she makes a shocking discovery, she realises she may have to do more than just protect it from harpies.
Fast paced and action packed, this was a great finale to the Kacy Chronicles.

Brilliant !!!

To anyone who likes a great story. Life is too short and a good book is far better than the internet. The interplay between characters and the resolution of the storyline is special. So never stop writing to keep the books coming for the enjoyment of all readers old and young !!

Literally!!! I loved this series. The characters were so well developed that I became one with them and I hate to see them go. I felt like I was with them through every battle and flight through the air, wings furled. I would love to live in this world.

The last book in this series. Loved the direction it went in. I figured this is the direction it was going to take. Almost all my questions were answered. I did wish to see a more permanent relationship between Sol and Jordan. I loved all the characters in this series.
