These were the 3 Bible passages that came to my mind when I read this book: 1 Peter 5:8 “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion waiting for someone to devour. Stay away from him.” Phillipians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” I Thessalonians 5:21-22: “Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil.” The most disturbing sentence I read to in this book was this: “Even only 25 percent of those who identify themselves as Christians are of the opinion that Satan is a real and living being intent on hurting people” (12). The greatest trick the devil ever played… It may be a cliché, but it is dangerously true. “Go ahead and admit that the skeptic’s voice…makes us wonder. I know, personally, it is hard to grasp these ideas. It is hard for me to take seriously that such an army [of demons] is, in fact, watching my every move, close enough to smell my blood” (23). Praise God that we know the promises of God to be true: “My sheep listen to my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can snatch them out of my hand (John 10:27-28).
This short book focuses on demons in our world, and uses the story of Jesus driving the demons into the pigs for illustration. While the book pointed out some very relevant points (demon activity is still happening today, that spiritual warfare is real, and Christians need to keep this in mind), the writing style was too scattered.
