One day shy of her twenty-fifth birthday, Maeve Brennan finally achieves her dream of owning a thriving clothing boutique after investing two years of blood, sweat, tears, and her entire bank account. After too many nights filling her belly with ramen noodles like a kid living the broke-ass college life, she’s ready to fly head first into celebrating her accomplishments. But when the clock strikes midnight during her night of celebration, she’s thrust into a vision that pulls her into a past she can no longer deny, leading her on a quest to find out why, all of a sudden, her wounds heal in minutes and who the mystery woman is that she keeps seeing in her visions.
Orion Murdoch, the owner and operator of Murdoch Construction, itches to break ground on a prime piece of real estate he’s waited to acquire for over a decade. Rumored to be sacred land, Silver Meadow is a magical place that enhances his warlock powers and calls to him as if something awaits him there. With the opportunity to finally make it his home, the project is plagued with one incident after another threatening his flawless reputation, impeccable safety rating, and the lives of his crew.
Maeve and Orion collide in a whirlwind of ancient curses, sordid family entanglements, and painful discoveries on land woven into the tapestries of their pasts. Desire, steeped in fate and tradition, draw them together with a fierce heat just as their true identities drive wedges between them even as they’re forced to rely on one another to hunt the truth, break free of the veil of evil that looms over them, and right the wrongs of the past.
USA Today Bestselling author Casey Hagen pens her stories from the salty air of Kennebunk, Maine. She's the author of over 30 books that would make your mama raise her eyebrows if she caught you reading them!
Maeve is celebrating her 25th birthday with her best friend/business partner, Courtney at Surge nightclub. While dancing, Maeve has a vivid vision where she is witnessing another woman's grief so powerfully, it brings her to her knees, right in the middle of the club. While viewing this scene, she sees the woman's hand cradling her stomach. Her skin glowed almost translucent as her life, her energy, slid out of her. “How is this possible?”
This wasn't just a vision, it was as if it was a portent of things to come as well as things in the past. The world Maeve knew was a magical place, with witches, shifters and vampires living among humans, but she was a mere human, with inadequacies... now, she suddenly realized she was one of "them."
Orion owns Murdoch Construction. He is also a warlock by birth, but refused to be schooled in his power...preferring to live his life as a mere mortal, though he is known to work a spell or two to protect his employees and his work sites because those workers are like his family and he has to protect them. He was careful to never abuse his power. He knew the life of a warlock, especially one in the Murdoch family, was a delicate balance of living firmly in the light and resisting the dark pull toward evil that brewed within each of them. He was about to be tested and that test included Maeve Brennan, he just didn't know that yet!
What follows is a fast-paced story filled with supernatural beings and a story that has been in the works for many generations. The reader will be introduced to some powerful characters, some dark beings and the possibility of something more...so much more than mere mortals could imagine. Take a step into the world of warlocks and other supernatural beings and see where it takes you - you won't be sorry. In fact, I am pretty sure you will enjoy every minute of this quick read.
This is one of several books in the series. Each can be read alone, but are truly appreciated when you are introduced to each member and their special skills and how they come together. If you like the supernatural mixed with a nice dose of steamy interaction between heroes and heroines, then this book would be a good choice.
I received a reader copy in exchange for an honest review. This one is a winner as are the others in the series. The author has earned her 5 stars and at least one reader who is begging her to write FASTER!
I received an ARC of this book from Hidden Gems, and this is my voluntary review. MEH. Casey Hagen has some superb writing chops, but that is not apparent in Sassy Ever After: Bewitching Sass. First off, the book is so short, and the story sufficiently incomplete, to call it a book. Call it a short story, and a prologue to an upcoming series. The plot is bare-bones - NO spoilers - and the backstory is rushed and vague, so I had a hard time feeling invested in the outcome - what little outcome there was.. The relationship development is likewise hasty and poorly fleshed out; particularly disappointing in light of the author's choice to make the heroine an Alpha werewolf, and the warlock hero is supposed to be her beta, her mate, and her protector. It isn't clear from the sex scenes, or from the rest of their brief interactions, how this works. She is supposedly the "sassy" one, but there is so little dialogue and such vague character development that her few smart remarks are oddly random. The warlock hero has no personality at all, and I just did not feel any chemistry between them. Lastly, the presence of secondary character Courtney is overbearing and distracts from the story - my biggest question after reading this is "What does Courtney have to do with it?" As much as I adore Casey Hagen's books, this one is purely a marketing device for a series, and I'm not interested.
rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. we meet Maeve on the cusp.of her 25th bday. she about celebrating her bday and her fashion store when she has the most intense vision and falls on broken glass leaving her bleeding. her bff Courtney is going to take her to the hospital when all.of a sudden maeve has healed...wth!!! Courtney knows who to call. When they reach Barbara maeve tells her about her visions and a tree. Barbara states she is a shifter from an ancient pack and needs to mate with a warlock in order to defeat the bad guy. maeve would think it's a likey story but smtg tells her it's not. with her bff they drive to the tree and see a handsome man standing at the base. we meet Orion, warlock and construction company owner having hard time trying to break ground. he knows smtg is up and when 2 girls show up he knows one of them has th3 answers. he spots the shorter girl and he breath is taken away. smtg instinctive takes place. maeve drops the the ground at the base of the tree and goes into visions of the past. Orion is set on keeping her safe with the help of his moonstone. Maeve can't believe what's going on. she just saw a vision of her mother dying and learning she has 3 sisters. she digs where her mother died and finds an urn with a locket and a letter. will this change everything? will Maeve shift? will she learn more truths? will Orion find out about the past esp his family?
I voluntarily received an arc copy of this story for my honest review. Maeve just turned 25, wants to own her own clothing boutique but she is having a rough time getting loans for her business. While out celebrating with friends she starts feeling weird a feeling like she has never ever felt before she heals a whole lot faster what is she and is having visions She is definitely not human.Orion is in construction and their is a piece of land he wants to acquire. Orion is a warlock the land he has acquired is rumored to have magic. Orion is seriously having problems with this land. All the visions Maeve is having has something to do with Orion's land. What is Maeve? Is Orion her mate? Does the land somehow belong to Maeve's family. This shifter story is awesome. Maeve is a strong character and Orion is everything. Even though this story is short I really liked it. I'm so happy their is more to come in this series.
OK, right off, let me say that this is not the longest novel in the entire history of the world, however the number of pages is clearly stated in the description, but that does not detract from the enjoyment I received from this cute short story that packs a punch. I love the fact that this novella manages to cram in a lot of information in such a clever way. I can clearly see that this is building the foundation for the rest of the books in the series to come. I loved the way that Maeve handled the changes in her life and as it happens in most, if not all shifter books, when they find and recognise their mate, then things happen super quickly. A good read that will entertain you over your tea. I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest and true opinion in this review.
A fascinating start that goes by in a blur. I love the concept at work here, a female alpha wolf and her warlock mate, and the start of their quest to save the world. This book sets the stage, but there’s still lots of questions without answers. And it has a cliff-hanger ending leading into the next book. I’m thoroughly intrigued by the Moonstone Guardian Pack and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
A quick read about a young woman who turns twenty five and finds out that she is more than she thought. With the help of her friend and a warlock she finds that with this new knowledge there are things that she needs to do. This is a novella and is a quick read. It does draw you in as it seemed like I started it and it was done. Does leave the main problem hanging. There is humor mixed in which is something I enjoy in a book. I did receive an ARC from Hidden Gems for an honest review.
Personally I could have gone for a little longer story that went into a few more details about their life, but even though it was short the story did make sense. Being short made it feel a little rushed in the end and of course we want to know more about their story and I hope that in future books we get to learn more. Not just about the couple, but the additional characters that were brought in.
Our heroine receives the shock of her life, when a vision strikes her on her 25th birthday. Armed with her best friend, they go on a quest of discovery. Our hero wants little to do with his warlock heritage, he does only what he needs to to help his employees, until our heroine. Now together they work to unlock her heritage.
I received an ARC of this story and have voluntarily chosen to review it here.
First let me state, I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also note, this author is new to me.
OMG!!! This story is awesome. Maeve had no idea she was anything but human. And add to that a hot, sexy warlock called Orion & her life takes off in an upward spiral. Add in an evil warlock named Belin, and you have one hell of a story. I look forward to the next story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
This story is short, fast paced and enjoyable. I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. I liked Maeve and her determination to discover the truth behind her visions. I liked Orion and how understanding he was of what was going on with Maeve. I did see some chemistry between Maeve and Orion but not a lot. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait to read more books from this series.
Normally I don't read paranormal but because I really like Ms. Hagen's writting I bought this. I really enjoyed this story. The characters were strong, the story was fun, sexy, it pulled me in from the beginning and had all the feels for a novella. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series.
This books had turns in it that you didn't see coming
Maeve had visions and she didn't know why. Her vision lead her to a special tree. Orion was a warlock that had a pull for this land with a special tree on it. What they find and learn will surprise you and delight you. You will enjoy thus book. I can't wait til the next one
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Short quick novella and an introduction into the Wolves and Warlocks series. It was really good and I didn't put it down once. From the quick glance I got of Orion and Maeve I really enjoyed the both of them. Very strong characters. Great start to this series and I'm looking forward to reading more!
this was a short story to introduce us to the rest of the series it was written well and ended the first chapter to the tale while also introing us to the next story i can t wait to see what happens
Maeve was only one day short of her twenty-fifth birthday. The ever beautiful Maeve has finally achieved her dream of owning her very own thriving clothing boutique. Maeve has had a long hard two long years of blood, sweat, tears. Maeve can't also forget that it's totally drained and her entire bank account. Maeve feels that after too many nights living on ramen noodles that she looks like a kid who's living like she's now the broke-ass college life. Maeve’s now ready to fly ahead into celebrating her achievements. As the clock strikes midnight while she's enjoying her night of celebrations. Maeve’s then totally and utterly thrust into a vision; a vision that then pulls her into the past she can no longer deny. This vision is now leading Maeve on a quest to try and figure out why and all of a sudden, her wounds start heal within minutes. Maeve also wants to find out who the mystery woman is that keeps appearing in her visions.
Meet Orion Murdoch
Orion is the CEO owner and operator of Murdoch Construction. Murdoch Construction is always trying to scratch it's itches to break ground on a very prime piece of real estate. Orion's waited well over a decade to acquire this piece of real estate. This real estate is rumoured to be a sacred land called Silver Meadow. Silver Meadow is to be believed a very magical place that will enhance his warlock powers. Silver Meadow calls to Orion as if it knows that something awaits him there. Now with the most opportune to finally make it Orion's new home, suddenly the project is plagued with incidents that continue to threaten his flawless reputation; also his impeccable safety rating, and not to mention all the lives of his crew.
When Maeve and Orion collide in a crazy whirlwind of ancient curses. Along with sordid family entanglements; painful discoveries on the land that is woven into the tapestries of both their pasts.
With all this happening suddenly desire, that's steeped in fate and tradition; draws the both them together with an off the charts chemistry just as their true identities start to suddenly drive wedges between them. With all the chemistry happening between them; they’re now forced to rely on one another to hunt the truth.
Bewitching Her Warlock is the first book in the Wolves and Warlocks series. Just as Maeve is celebrating both her business and birthday, she has a life altering vision. Looking for answers, she finds Orion, a warlock who owns the land her mother died on, and a man she’s drawn to. Neither were looking for a mate, but when curses, an evil warlock, three missing sisters, and a new quest consumes their lives, will Maeve and Orion face a united future full of love?
Ohhh, this book is so good and the start of something that just grabbed my attention and I already am excited for more! Maeve and Orion are a powerful couple full of so much promise, if only they can make it past their mating! It was really interesting to me that Maeve had no idea about her past, had no one she could really ask, but she jumped fully into her new role with no complaints. I loved Orion because he was strong and able to match Maeve’s alpha personality, but he was cautious, wanting to find out more before fully accepting his role, and I really respected that. I loved Maeve’s friend and all of her humor and support! I also loved the twist with Orion’s family. While this romance is complete, the overarching story definitely is not, so I loved reading this book and look forward to what may happen next!
On her twenty-fifth birthday, Maeve's life changes. She discovers her heritage and goes to where her visions led her. There she finds her mate and what her mother left for her. Maeve is part of The Tetrad and oldest of the Moonstone Guardians Pack. She is a wolf shifter who is destined to mate with a warlock. Orion is a warlock who rarely practices his gift and was drawn to Silver Meadow. He bought the land to build his house but couldn't break ground until Maeve came and claimed her heritage. Maeve and Orion mate and later that day have to battle Belen, the warlock who killed Maeve's mother for power. It is the first fight with Belen and they win together. Now they have to find her three sisters and awaken them as well. It is a serial novel but I'm already looking forward to the next book.
That was a great little introduction to this series. Quick read. * * Orion and Maeve are great. I didn`t expect Belen to show up the way he did. Figured if he appeared, it would be right at the end in quite a cliffhanger. However, I`m not complaining about how it ended. It`s good that they`re jumping right into the finding of the sisters. I see much of the series being about finding the wolves and warlock mates and convincing them of this world and their heritage. Also. Belen popping up every so often to be a nuisance, which for some reason, I think I would find entertaining...
It is Mauve's 25th birthday and her world is turned upside down. Orion is a warlock. He has no desire to be with someone but that is about to change. Mauve has learned she is a Wolf shifter and she has to find a mate. He has to be a warlock. It is her destiny. She also has to find her sisters. Will Orion be her mate and help her with her destiny?
I received this as an arc. It took me a second to get into it as they set it up but after that I enjoyed it. I didn't want it to end. I can't wait to find out what happens with the other 3. You'll understand when you read it.
