Chicago Syndicate #8

For the Love of Luca

Rate this book
Although part of the Chicago Syndicate world, For the Love of Luca is a standalone and can be enjoyed either with or without reading the rest of the series.

I’m a man who has it all: power, love, and wealth.
I’m a man who always needs to be in control.
I’m a husband.
I’m a murderer.
I’m the underboss of the Chicagoan mafia.
I keep the world that Fallon and I have created in our home safe, and I’d sacrifice anything or anyone to protect the woman I love and my high ranking position without an ounce of remorse.
Until my worst nightmare comes true and I lose control over my home and myself, posing a challenge neither Fallon nor I ever anticipated.
And I fear that being a good husband and being a good Mafioso might get one of us killed.

ARC BOOK REVIEW
Release Date-17/4/18

Well, I just have to say "For the love of Luca" may be my first book by this author but it definitely won't be my last.
I was transfixed by this story throughout and my kindle was permanently attached to my hand with this right till the bitter end.
And let me tell you what a rollercoaster of emotions I experienced throughout this, my god I was a wreck by the time this eventually concluded.
So first things, this can totally be read as a standalone.
Even with this being a continuation of a previous relationship I didn't feel lost within the narrative.
It was so easy to settle right into Luca and Fallon's (looove that name) lives.
The whole experience was like putting on a comfortable pair of jammies (PJ'S)
It was just so easy to follow and you felt at home instantly within the storyline.

 photo 0a5101ec76e1589c09e2b7f496fcfe78_zpsymozyzaw.gif

I really enjoyed this aspect of the story, that we were dealing with an established relationship and an already accepted dynamic with warts and all.
It was refreshing to be shown a behind the scenes look after the HEA and to encounter the problems that can arise in any relationship even when events seem to be perfect and idyllic.
Now I'm a sucker for a good mafia romance and "For The Love Of Luca" ticked all my boxes and more.
There was just the right balance between the romance and the intrigue to keep me invested.
Luca and Fallon's flaws and imperfections made them seem more alive and vibrant to me as an outside spectator.
And despite the fact that Luca behaved like a real plonker, I was still ultimately rooting for him to redeem himself for Fallon.
I was also rubbing my hands together in malicious glee when Fallon held out and made Luca grovel for her forgiveness for being such an absolute witless pillock.
He so deserved that and more.

 photo source_zpsho110txd.gif

So this was a great read that I'm happy to give my seal of approval, it was well written kept my attention and also appealed to my love of a deep bad-boy.
Can't believe I've done my old trick of starting a series backwards, it's becoming a habit for me.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of (For the Love of Luca (Chicago Syndicate, #8) of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Life is never boring for those who belong to the Chicago Syndicate. The characters we have grown to love and adore have settled into married life, some with families of their own. But the peace is broken by lies, secrets, and deceptions. What once was strong is now weakened by doubt. At a time when Fallon and Luca should be clinging to each other fiercely and holding onto hope, the distance between them widens and both find the chasm hard to breach. Their love for one another still burned brightly, however, would it still remain when the smoke cleared?

I’ve been the biggest fan of this series. I’ve recommended it, gifted it, and probably irritated the heck out of my friends with my endless talk about it. Yet, this particular story didn’t speak to my heart as much as the others did. It felt a bit repetitive to me. For someone who has read all of the other books, most of the small details were unnecessary. However, I get why there were mentioned repeatedly. For those who are new to these books or haven’t read every single one of them, then this can definitely be read as a standalone. Although the bits of action in this story didn’t hurt, it was mostly full of love, hope and family.

This book blew me away. It hooked me from the first page that starts with a bang and didn't let go until I finished.

The angst and suspense

The mix of violence and sweet mafia family moments

The steamy scenes

And the amazing and unpredictable plot twists are a very rare thing to find nowadays in romance!

Reread March 2022:
Another one I read once a year. For the love of Luca, indeed 🥰 Still melts my butter.

5 "Dolcezza" Stars
Luca DeMiliano is why I read romance.

Soraya Naomi did it again. She brought me much joy by giving me (more) Luca DeMiliano. Will I ever get enough of him and his love for Fallon? NEVER.

"Nothing enlightens my life more than reading about fictional love in all its drama and beauty. Sometimes the simple things in life can bring me unimaginable joy." Quote from For Fallon

I've been following Luca and Fallon the entire Chicago Syndicate World series. I've always had a weakness for alpha heroes but not all of them are created equal. What makes Luca stand out from all the rest? The way he loves Fallon. His protectiveness towards her is a quality that I've found completely enthralling and he's "not the least remorseful about how he protects her." Ah, the overprotective alpha. It's a quality all the heroes of the series possess and it's why every book Ms. Naomi writes is a 1-click for me <3 It's a guilt-free obsession of mine. I should add that Luca is my favorite of them all. He's one of my favorite book boyfriends and definitely my top mafioso. And it's always incredibly difficult to let him go at the end of a book. I'm going to stop gushing over Luca now before I go all Sinéad O'Connor on him and start typing the lyrics to "Nothing Compares 2 U."

In For the Love of Luca, Fallon really proved she's no longer the naive girl Luca first met; she is strong. But Luca's ever growing protectiveness for Fallon and his need to control everything, blinded him from facing and accepting her own strength. Fallon fought every step of the way to make him and everyone else see the eminent threat surrounding them. I felt her desperation to make him trust her and I felt just as frustrated as she, every time she failed to convince him. But having a weak spot for Luca, I couldn't really blame him for trying to hold on to every bit of control he could. He was caught between his duty as underboss and doing whatever it took to keep his wife and children safe. Losing control isn't something he's familiar with or something a man in his position can afford and watching his family get hurt had him thrown off-kilter. But I never doubted his love and I was confident Luca would make it right because he's never disappointed me. Oh, and those infant twins of theirs were such cutie pies! Now, it's not just how Luca loves Fallon but how he loves those two babies. My ovaries! I was 100% invested in the story from start to finish.

Is there a happily ever after after for these two? Of course! I'm sorry if this is considered a spoiler for other readers but for me, a happy ending is always a prerequisite and Ms. Naomi always delivers :D

NOTE: I highly recommend book 1 For Fallon and book 2 For Luca because... Luca *sigh*
I also recommend Henry from Black Hat Hacker because he sure gave Luca a run for his money.

Dolcezza and the Underboss are BACK!

This book!!! Luca and Fallon on a whole other level! This book has gone above and beyond. Fallon comes stronger than ever in For the Love of Luca. Like all of Soraya's books, I could not put this book down. She sure makes a good job at keeping me at the edge of my seat, making me cry, laugh, and want to throw my kindle at the wall with each one of her books and this one was definitely no exception. You really can't help feel every emotion this couple goes through.

This sexy man beast Luca sure took me on an emotional ride. He's more intense than ever but not always in a good way. But what's a man to do when he's stuck between a rock and a hard place? Make stupid decisions and be an ass of course. Having to make hard decisions between being more of a husband or underboss, takes its toll. So that's where Fallon comes in wearing her big girl panties and doing whatever necessary to protect her family. And boy does she ever! Guns blazing, she will not stop until both of her families are safe, even when it seems like she has no support and trust is questioned.
Fallon has shown her strength before in books #1 and #2, but now she shows she's the true pillar keeping it all together, no matter how crazy one may seem (wink). You know what they say... With every great man, there's an even stronger woman.

This must read is amazingly written in dual POV with its own HEA. This is book #8 in the Chicago Syndicate series but a complete standalone. So you do not need to read any of the other books before you read this one, but why wouldn't you want to get to know all these sexy alpha mafia men? They are all definitely worth the read and even a re-read. I'm so excited for Soraya's next book, it's not even funny. Can't wait for more Chicago Syndicate!

This amazing book begins with a prologue that gives the idea that a love so intense can probably creak. In fact I noticed since it’s first pages, that something bad was going to happen to Luca and Fallon but mostly their love and devotion to one another was going to be questioned. All the unusual incidents that occur to Fallon are actually a menace to the entire organization of the Chicago Syndicate and are used to destabilize the steady relationship with Luca. The thing I noticed most in the book is the evolution of Fallon’s character. She is indeed no longer the lost girl in need of protection. On the contrary she will be the one who will take the reins of this messed up situation and prove to Luca that she will do anything to protect her loved ones. Luca on the contrary used to being in control, is actually at a loss and at a certain point it may seem that he is losing his focus on the most important things. Needless to say that I enjoyed reading this book very much. The series is my favorite and I just loved the fact that I had the chance to read the follow-up of their love.

I’ve been a fan of Lucca and Fallon since the beginning! I’ve been #teamLucca from page one! I ADORE his vibe, overprotectiveness, his sexiness, everything!

For the Love of Lucca is a very intense read! Someone means harm to the largest and most ruthless Syndicate in the United States! The attack comes from the most unexpected place resulting in mayhem and distrust. Although the attack upset my nerves to no end, it was genius! I couldn’t figure out “whodunnit”! Everyone is suspect! I lost count of the number of times I ran from a super intense scene!

Naomi does a fabulous job with the mafia and suspense in this story! Relationships become tumultuous and men who never lose control are one step from being stripped of their title with a one way ticket to the “special warehouse”. Kudos, Naomi! For the Love of Lucca is definitely a WINNER!

Five stars!

L-O-V-E-D this!

Adriano's my man, so it's hard for me to say I loved this more than his and Cam's books, but I definitely loved it every bit as much. Luca simply blows my angst-loving mind in this book!

Anyone that knows me knows that I love mafia romance more than any other drama. There is a certain element of darkness that lures me to the darkside. I am picky about this genre because it has to find the perilous balance and juxtapose the light with the darkness. From the beginning of this series of standalones this author has kept my rapt attention. While you don't have to read the previous books in order to understand this story it would be advisable beecause it gives you better insight into these characters.

We have come a long way since we first saw Fallon. She is no longer shy and naive. She comes full circle in this story and shows that she has learned from being married to an underboss. Luca has grown so much as well. Fallon gives Luca the softness that he needs to deal with the gory details that is part of being in the underbelly of the mafia. They have so much chemistry and I love the new roles that they have both assumed and the devotion that they show the additions to their family. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would see Luca in that role nor did I see him getting MORE protective than he already was. It was endearing and poignant. That being said, it does not mean that this journey was smooth sailing. There were some major bumps in the rode largely because of Luca and his need to protect what is his. Lack of communication leads to hurt feelings, lack of trust, and a lot of conflict. My heart hurt for both of them as they traversed this hard time in their marriage.

I appreciated seeing the additional snippets of other characters. I enjoyed immensely getting the chance to revisit all of these characters again. So often we read a standalone and then we never see them again. I am glad that the author took this time to let me rad about two of my all favorite couples again.

For the Love of Luca is the 8th installment of the Chicago Syndicate.

This book is a standalone but i reccomended reading the previous books to get a better understanding of the Syndicate members. Besides who doesn't want to read about delicious sexy mafia men.

In this book Luca and Fallon' s relationship is put to the test.
The meek shy Fallon we were introduced to in the previous books is no more. She has grown into a strong , independent Mafioso Queen who will go to any length to protect her familia.
These two have been my favorite throughout the series, so as im reading certain scences I'm thinking WTF!!! Oh How I wanted to just slap Luca and say what the hell is your problem!!!
This book is full of angst and suspense, with love, lies and betrayal.
New characters are introduced which i loved, I'm intrested to see how those new members play out and if they will get a book. Hint hint Soraya 😉
This is yet again another fantastic read by Soraya Naomi

>Book Review – For the Love of Luca
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 8th in the Chicago Syndicate series and ends in an HEA after the HEA. Luca and Fallon are happily married parents of twins. Their marriage is stressed after being pulled apart by syndicate business and a lack of trust. I love that the original HEA still needs work in order to last, just like in real life.
>Both Fallon and Luca begin to lose trust in each other. Balancing a relationship and the syndicate is a tough job. There are a lot of scenes with both Luca and Fallon and the children. These scenes help to show the family stability beyond the trust issues and are unique in that very few books actually use the kids as anything more than props. In this book, the kids are a vital part to the story. Fallon actually takes care of them. Luca actually interacts with them.
>Once the danger, misunderstandings and brutality have passed, Fallon and Luca’s marriage is stronger than ever. This book showed the not so pretty side of a marriage and was all the more realistic because of that fact. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving this book 5 stars.

For the Love of Luca was Amazing!

As it states that it can be read as a standalone  and it can but if your like me, you might want more a background story in the characters. I am glad that I read For Fallon & For Luca before I read For the Love of Luca. The first book I read in the Chicago Syndicate series was Black Hat Hacker. For the Love of Luca book we see all the characters from the previous books and it's one hell of a journey.

Ever read a book were you felt like your heart was being crushed because of a characters actions. Yeah well mine got crushed and stopped beating a couple of times because of Luca & Fallon. I love these characters. I haven't read a book in a while were the connection of the characters affects me. The details are fantastic. It's like you could imagine it and be right there in the scenes.

Gosh, I have such a girl crush on Fallon. She is more badass in this book. Of course I still love Luca.

The Chicago Syndicate series is worth reading and rereading. I will defiantly be going back and reading the previous books.

Fallon and Luca are back! And they did not disappoint.
The main theme to this book: ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR WOMAN! We possess an intuition like no other. Luca should have known that. Shame. I still adore him though.
Luca and Fallon have been married for a while and have been blessed with a little family. They are adjusting but are very happy. An incident occurs that throws Luca and Fallon’s relationship into a tailspin and have them questioning their devotion and trust.
This book had so much. I couldn’t put it down. The tension between Luca and Fallon, crazy frustrating but oh so good! My heart strings were definitely pulled tight and I may have screamed internally a couple of times. But overall, this was crafted so well and it made you fall in love with Luca and Fallon all over again. Their passion and bond is fierce. It’s a great romantic story that captured my heart the first time I was introduced to them and now, I will never be able to forget them. Bravo on a job well done Soraya!

Luca and Fallon are my favourite couple in this series I was so happy they were getting another book.

There were several times I was worried about Luca and Fallon whilst reading. We see a Fallon that has grown in strength from the young woman we first met, she’s now a fully fledged Mafia wife. Luca still thinks of her as the naive innocent girl he met. His attitude and outside forces put a serious strain on not only turn but on Fallon’s position in the Mafia family,

I seriously wanted to slap Luca so many times I was screaming at him thinking what is he doing. The babies were so darn cute, the new parents are besotted with them.

Another thrilling book in this series but now I’m wondering what the heck is going on with Michael, please say he’s next.

Luca and Fallon are getting comfortable in their life as new parents to twins. Luca is the Underboss in the Chicago Mafia. He likes control and order. When circumstances out of his control cause a frightening situation, he struggles with how to proceed. He begins to question if Fallon can be trusted.
Sometimes when you know you're right, you can only trust yourself and your own instincts. Fallon can't believe Luca would not trust her and be on her side. Can she convince him before everything falls apart?
Fantastic story. More fun to read if you read it in order with the series, but is a standalone. Fallon and Luca are great characters, can't wait to read the next in the series!!! (Hoping it's Michael!!!)

The story had me from the first chapter to the last word. Fallon and Luca are amazing together, together they balance each other out. But when Fallon is in danger and she feels out of control, Luca does not stand beside his wife. So much happens in this book between these two I don't want to dive too much into the story and ruin it. This whole syndicate series is amazing but I think this is my fav book so far

I love the "Chicago Syndicate" series, and "For the Love of Luca" continues to make the series outstanding! I happily received a. Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. Fallon and Luca's story continues with Fallon being endangered by armed intruders in the club, a mysterious text that leads to an attack and a rift between her and Luca because neither he nor the rest of the syndicate believe her. There's a snake in the garden! Excellent read! Five outstanding stars!!!

Luca and Fallon have already been through so damn much and this just pisses more and sometimes too much pushing pushes people apart and too far...what would you do for family?!?! Well get ready for suspense ,action , accusations and who can you really trust?!?!? Michael we met briefly from the NY Syndicate and he is one of those characters you just fall for and loved the new connections!!! Another absolute hit and I hope we never hear the end of this killer crew!!

Life in the Synidcate changes you, makes you harder. I felt for Fallon during this story as she tries to validate occurrences around her, there's a traitor in the midst and Fallon is the weak link they aim to use to gain their objective. Luca even doubts her...where has their love gone? Will the hardened woman she becomes be recognizable when this is over?
Masterful plot.

This has to be my personal favourite in the Chicago Syndicate series. The characters are even more three dimensional and flawed than in the previous volumes, and the suspense is breathtaking. The twists and turns just don't stop coming. Luca becomes my most annoying person in a long time, luckily it doesn't last! This one is a real page turner and the quality of writing is better than ever.
