Changing Tracks

Rate this book
Cole Mitchell runs the busiest saloon and brothel in Dominion Falls. He keeps his women at a distance, unwilling to relive a past he worked hard to forget.

Until the night Jane Doe falls into his saloon bleeding and near death. She wakes with no memory, only the firm belief someone tried to kill her. In the strange world of amnesia she manages to find solace in Cole’s arms and he finds home in hers.

While they work together to solve the mystery of her appearance, their pasts – her lack of, and his buried – build a barrier between them.

To make matters worse, Jane’s past isn’t willing to let her go. A stranger proves he’ll kill to keep his secrets safe. With those she loves in danger, Jane’s errant memory is all that stands between them and death. Cole can only do so much to protect her, will it be enough?

Hi! I’m Sarah Cass, author, nurse, mom of three, wife, and caretaker of six spoiled rescue cats. I’ve been writing stories for over 20 years, and they tend to get a little spicy, a little emotional, and a little mysterious—just the way I like them.

My published series include:
• The Dominion Falls Series – spicy historical western mystery/suspense (10 books & counting!)
• Holidays in Lake Point - A sweet small-town standalone romance collection (all set around holidays!)
• The Tribe – a shifter-based urban fantasy/paranormal romance
• And coming soon: Dark Sky Valley, a contemporary western romance set in the present-day version of Dominion Falls!

When I’m not writing or working as a nurse, you’ll find me crocheting, knitting, watching Friends or Star Trek for the millionth time, or plotting my family's next move—hopefully to Colorado!

A very solid 4.5 stars for this wonderful book. Packed with mystery and intrigue and with a nice dash of romance this book is one I would highly recommend for any fan of historical fiction.
Saloon and brothel owner Cole thinks he has everything just how he wants it, a successful business, and women on tap whenever he chooses, but his whole world is shook to its foundations when a mysterious young woman covered in blood stumbles through his saloon doors. Almost at death's door, Cole and his "favourite" Daisy (who by the way is one of the most interesting and intriguing characters in the book, and one I would love to know more about ) slowly nurture her back , only to find that she has no memory of who she is or why she ended up in Dominion Falls. Jane Doe, as she becomes known, is a woman unlike any other in the town, independent almost to a fault, liberated and determined to make the best of her new life, ideally with Cole as her companion, and is a wonderful character, most unlike what you might expect from a romance set in this era. When her mysterious past begins to catch up with her, it threatens to bring those she has come to care about into grave danger, and as her secrets begin to unravel she faces some very tough choices.
I absolutely loved this book, and would have happily given in five stars if the ending had been just a little more resolved, I am not a lover of cliff- hanger endings. However the characters are all so great, not just Cole and Jane, but also the secondary characters like Daisy as already mentioned, and Hammy, another Dominion Falls resident, and the pacing and plot development is so excellently executed , with the perfect blend of intrigue to keep the reader hooked, and timely revelations to move the story along, that it made it difficult to put the book down.
On a final note, I know there are several more books to come in the series, and with characters as great as these I look forward to reading them.

I adore this Author and all her books. I loved this book the first time and this second edition is just as noteworthy.

Cole and Jane are wonderful characters as well as everyone in Dominion Falls. They have a true sense of community and they always take care of their own. Jane can’t remember her past and Cole is very taken by her(which never happens)

The events in this book take us through Janes journey and Coles need for her.
My favorite character is Hammy. He is adorable in his own way.

If this is your first time or second, this entire series is a must for your collection.

Hats off to you Sarah, you are awesome!!!

There is a great mystery with many surprising twists and turns. A lot of suspense and anxiousness as clues are explained and new ones appear. The author teases the reader with surprising events and later reveals the secret planning behind the event that totally changes the original perception. Keeps one on their toes and constantly sneaking ahead a few pages to see if all is as it seems. Fascinating story, well written and would be an interesting movie. The frustrating three words...."To be continued"...came much too soon. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.

I loved this book series. It was a definite great escape. They are fast paced and easy read. They can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading them in order. The details are written great throughout and you're not left with wondering. I was given an ARC for my honest review.

Well the story continues in Dominion Falls with Cole finding Jane aka Clara. Well Clara has been through a traumatic time in her life with someone trying to kill her and trying to find her son. Well Jane ends up with amnesia and is wanted for a bunch of crimes to which she doesn't remember. We also get to catch up with the rest of the gang from Dominion Falls.this was another greatly written historical book about Indians attacking and how saloons and things happened back in the olden days.

I really enjoyed this book! I think that the author did a great job building all of the characters in this book. Not only do you fall in love with the main characters, Jane and Cole, you also find yourself wanting more and learning more about the secondary characters as well. There are plenty of twists and turns in this book to keep it interesting and making you want to keep turning those pages! The cliffhanger at the end of this book already has me eager for book 2 in this series! I can’t wait to find out what’s in store next for Jane and Cole!

Good read.
I really enjoyed the action part of this book and the part with the faster pace. I don't really like romance so much so I got lost a bit in the middle of the book where the story turns around the two main characters relationship. I stopped reading for a while.

I was glad I picked the book back up and went through it though, because the end really worth the wait. I mean really it's awesome, but I won't tell you why (no spoiler), if you read it though you can come to talk with me about it, I would love that.

I would definitely like to read the rest of Jane's adventure.

This book had my attention from the very first page! There's a back story for almost all the characters and enough twists and turns to leave you wanting more. I absolutely loved the authors writing style she made me feel as if I was actually in the book and going through everything with Jane. And also loved reading from Cole's point of view every once in a while. It helped me understand him a little better.
